  1. You can update the maps manually without paying for the subscription, however you obviously won’t get live traffic and POI’s. I generally use Tom Tom Go and Waze via CarPlay but good to keep the in-built maps up-to-date as a backup. If you simply want to keep the database up-to-date then goto this link. https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/
  2. Question for those who have done this procedure..... I have downloaded the latest map database from Skoda, unpacked the files and placed all of these on the top level of an ExFat formatted USB drive (MicroSD Card inserted into USB-C adapter). I know the adaptor and card work with the car as successfully updated Infotainment software from 1941 to 1969. I note that in the first couple of minutes of starting the car, there is some USB activity (LED light flashes on USB) but then for the remainder of the journey, there is no USB activity at all. I imagined I might see some USB activity, then none while the system updated certain files, more activity, and repeat. Any ideas or guidance on this - should I just leave it to do its thing and after a week or so the map updates will be complete?
  3. I have updated to 1969 but I fully understand holding off if 1941 is working perfectly well for you. There are no discernible differences and, for me,!it’s equally fast and responsive as 1941. Whilst there will be “under the bonnet” changes if 1941 is stable and you have no issues the adage of “if it ain’t broken….” is certainly relevant. It’s not like it’s an iOS or Android update that brings new functionality.
  4. I actually haven’t heard of anyone getting the 1969 update OTA whether it’s an older or newer Octavia. I assume Skoda only push the update to a certain number of vehicles at a time so it literally could take many months before it is even made available to a specific vehicle. Not sure what the protocol is if the vehicle / user refuse the update when it is made available for download.
  5. isIt's hard to say, but you would likely benefit from updating the infotainemnt software to at least 1941, which is regarded as the version that bought with it system stability. I would also suggest you ask the dealer to update the Telematics module firmware as that possibly is causing your system to crash and reboot.
  6. That’s encouraging then as since vsn 1941 my system has been rock solid. I updated to 1969 myself and system remains solid. At the same time I got the dealership to update to version 1941 I did have to get the Telematics module firmware updated, related to the SOS error, at the dealer which used to drag the system down when it crashed and that is now stable. i think this is the issue with these cars, all the modules firmwares can have an impact and you have to be “pro-active” on these forums to get a sense what might need updating. It seems a module can crash the system unexpectedly. Whilst Skoda seem to have updated the firmware versions for various modules they don’t seem to have devised a clear route for dealers to apply them hence why issues for many persist.
  7. Whilst the Octavia has had its fair share of software issues I think this is a separate issue to those. Some of the earlier models screens seem to be suffering from overheating which crashes the software. I suspect later models screen hardware specifications have been improved to prevent this?
  8. Out of interest what manufacturer year is your car?
  9. The infotainment system rebooting due to ambient heat/sunshine is a bit concerning. Purchased my First Edition Octavia last Autumn so not had it during the warmer summer months - Has anyone in the UK, where the summers are a lot "cooler" than a lot of Europe, experienced this issue?
  10. If it ain’t broke….. Wait until the service then any potential issues and it’s the dealer’s responsibility.
  11. Working Download Links: I have uploaded the file to a couple of my cloud services, and no password is required. Give them a try and let me know if they are working okay for you. The first link will likely become unavailable when it hits a bandwidth limit so best to download ASAP. https://e.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZVfN9Zh62r0cJ7y4YQMaldlQMJxbP78tTV Hopefully this link should work okay: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rT0eItntrx6zeUz0dMAnzpBKL5Ktswg7/view?usp=share_link If requests become to much I will likely have to restrict downloads but for the time being I'll keep them live and un-restricted.

  13. I can also confirm the iOS app reports the correct metric as defined in the settings.
  14. I’m on current iOS (not the beta) and not had any issues with CarPlay. For navigation I either use Waze or Tom Tom Go
  15. I think you are correct, I find if there is an OTA, on occasion, I have had similar messages about certain functionality being unavailable. Generally sorts itself out but the way the unit handles updates is not the best - even having more informative warnings would help.
  16. Just a flag but this is the Mk IV Octavia forum, so models 2020 onwards. I believe the issues you are discussing won't be relevant to this group. You would be better off posting on the Yeti forum to get any feedback from other owners.
  17. The Skoda Approved Used Car Warranty does not include software and, I assume, firmware updates which, considering how reliant modern cars are on software, is rather disappointing.
  18. Might be worth doing a factory reset in the settings? It's simple enough, you will have to reconnect your car to the primary account using the two keys and then log back into any other user accounts but once that is done your user settings get downloaded so there are not too many things that then need resetting to how you like them. After updating to 1969 the electric seat position, which was linked to the specific car keys and user accounts (1 set for my wife and the other for me) stopped working for me but factory reset sorted it.
  19. I have a first edition and both versions and, I find they are as responsive as one another. I always found 1941 fast and the same applies for 1969
  20. Sorted this out - did a “Restore To Factory Settings” which unlinks the car to the user accounts. Then logged back in / reconnected the user accounts to the car and immediately started working once I has re-assigned each key to the individual accounts. All seating and driving data retained as I guess it’s stored in the Cloud.

  22. Thinking of doing a factory reset which would then require me to re-link accounts / User profiles to the car. If I do this does the driving data get preserved such as long-term mpg? My only trepidation is becoming the primary user again as had issues prior to getting the infotainment system updated to version 1941.
  23. I have to confess, I am confused and don't quite understand this whole post.
  24. I haven't noticed any speed difference, performs much the same way as 1941 which I always found relatively snappy. One negative is the driver's seat position which linked to the individual key fob/user profile seems to have stopped working which is a minor annoyance.
