  1. @Colin1051 Absolutely, prepare for winter. That would be Simply Clever for Dealership services around winter time..,.. So DIY Clean and polish metal and prep rubber. What temp can be around 2 degrees c Ground or Air temp and below. When ice can form. Odd so many here over the years have the issue. Skoda have dealt with the New Peaq EV. The door handles have a hammer effect and can break them free when frozen. So maybe they have sorted the charger flap with a heating element...
  2. Eon Next just asked if i want to sign up for their Power Up / Power Down Scheme. So they are introducing what others already do. I use so little electric during the day and between 16.00 - 20.00 that i can not power down. Plugging in using the 3 pin lead for 2 hours is not going to be Powering up much. 5-6 kWh max..
  3. A few around the UK with £3,000 or so knocked off. Nearly Toyota GR Yaris or Hyundai N120 Never raced or rallied much more of Hot rather than warm hatch.
  4. According to Skoda / VW UK you no longer are on a 5 year / 50,000 mile recommendation for the cam belt. That was always a nonsense and changed in 2023. So up to you if you want the Belt and Tensioner kit done. I would do it, and with a independent with the equipment and knowledge. Cheaper than a 1.5 TSI ACT, but how much depends on who / where you go to. Service it, cambelt, plugs, airfilter, brakes etc then maybe get a Remap Done...
  5. Yes they have to rise. But that will be at the end of the Fixed Tariffs if you have that. Today to fix Smart Drive Next is 8 pence offpeak & Drive Next 9 pence for 12 months. PS, we as in the UK does still use Gas Plants to generate electricity, we as in Scotland have one remaining gas plant and 1 nuclear plant. Both will close at some point. The Peterhead plant is one of the most polluting facilities in Scotland. No.1 one most polluting now i think. Funny not funny really, that is where they want Carbon Capture to be and take Carbon from elsewhere. Yet right now they are not collecting there and piping out under the sea into where they took oil and gas from.
  6. The new quarters price list is available. This is the chance up till end June to order before the changes come in. Annual Mileage allowance down from 20,000 miles to 10,000 & then 25 pence a mile. VAT on the Advance Payments, 6 tyre limit for replacements, charged extra to take a vehicle abroad, and some other stuff. This quarter there are some very low prices on EV,s. Like the Kia EV3 (Last month was the EV4 from £299), MINI Countryman EV & the Suzuki e-Vitara look the best deal in EV,s as far as range from them and low advance payments, Not much in the way of the various ICE vehicles with low advance payments other than smaller cars.
  7. Eon next drive down to 5.99 pence for 6 hours. The Eon Next Smart drive is lower for those with a Smart Charger. Not checked today's Fixed prices though, they will be higher than early last month.
  8. What is the cost of a new axle? Mk2 ones were available much cheaper than some expected and were available and a best option as far as fitting.
  9. The new tariff for 6 hours offpeak with Eon Next Next Drive. 5.99 pence. Next Smart Drive is cheaper than this, and if i had renewed a day earlier than i did it would be even less i would be paying.
  10. Welcome. @Carlston might be along and help with advice. I will alert a Mod so they can move your thread to the Fabia Mk2 section.
  11. I watched a Youtube vid on the Skoda Peaq, it showed that the flush door handles will open if in a crash or can be pulled open, but also have a hammer feature type action and can force themselves open if frozen closed.
  12. Hardly. They have yet to engineer vehicles so as the fuel freezer or Charging Port flat do not freeze closed on an Island Nation (4 nations) where wet and above freezing then freezing temps can occur. This from a Central European manufacturer.
  13. Age / generation dependant. Euro 6, cambelt.
  14. ? is the Off / Reset easy enough? I got a Mini Countryman courtesy car that was set for the Employee Driver that usually had it. Radio stations and heated seat & steering wheel on when the ambient temp was 15*oC or below. That was the only thing i bothered to reset as i was like a wet rag.
  15. Strange that Motoring Journalist & Skoda Media never report it correctly as the Fastest Skoda Fabia available to the general public from Skoda UK in Showrooms. Obviously the Customer Programme Rally / Motorsport Fabia are faster & under £150,000. Required for Homologation so that they can have the Rallying Success.
  16. Good news today or Audi fans from VW. A 3.0 V6 Mild Hybrid Diesel engine that can do 50 mpg. Actually they were doing similar when the Diesel Scandal hit. All that Endurance Racing R&D. Pity it is not Smaller Lighter highly efficient diesels they build at lower prices. But then they need more Electrified vehicles first registered to be able to get these sold without penalties. Roomsters and Octavia without SCR are an issue not being Euro 6 if the driver is entering LEZ,s.
  17. A 1.5 TSI and DQ200 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG. It has no more BHP or Torque than Mk2 Fabia vRS had, & less bhp that the Polo GTI 1.8 TSI 192bhp that followed the Twinchargers had. There the Manual had 320 Nm and the DQ200 DSG limited to 250 Nm.
  18. There are VW Group diesels that kept big fuel tanks, 60 litres plus, do as good range with a DSG as a manual does. Lower Emissions under testing. False testing often.. The issue brought in was SCR/ Adblue. VW Group conspired with other German Car makers on Fuel Tanks, Adblue Tanks and components and then came up with the defeat device for Engine Management. Sadly elephant in the room, SCR and cost of failures & DQ381 DSG,s and poor reliability, MCU,s. Issues not addressed by VW Group. A pure lottery if thousands of quid in costs coming when they go wrong, sometimes even within 3 years & manufacturers warranty. PS Earlier DSG,s & 2 litre petrol or diesel, Pre WLTP & 6 speed DQ250,s. Then we have DQ381,s & 7 speeds. Quite simply 7 speeds are different ratios than 6 speed, gear changes are supposed to be to get best economy, not best performance. As it is on UK roads you might never use more than half the available speed the can do, and seldom the full BHP / Torque available.
  19. For a 'Keeper' or buying a used car it is 1.5 TSI ACT,s i would avoid.
  20. @AksA87 Welcome. Is that a Mk2 Octavia, how old & how many miles /km?
  21. Evolution13 replied to mad_dad's topic in Skoda Yeti
Welcome to the forum. Sounds like a winner if it runs well and has a valid MOT, maybe best leave well alone. Do you know the DPF has not been gutted out, the ERG coded out and a blanking plate fitted?
  22. Needs plugged in and changed Variable / Flexible to Fixed, and reset for 372 days / 9,400 miles or whatever.
  23. The AA or RAC inspection is unlikely to pick up any issue with the DQ200 DSG. For that best take along for a roadtest a friend familiar with these and get a long road test. Check the service history, spark plugs and Air Filter last changed (open air box and look.) . Check the tyres, brakes, look at discs, wipers, windscreen (no chips) etc etc. Give the car an inspection, or have a family member or friend with mechanical knowledge do that. PS. sorry missed discs and brake pads are new. What does the past MOT,s look like, any advisories in the last 2 MOT,s. Any outstanding. Does the Dealership have a MOT Examiner?
  24. I have never ever thought i wish this was a manual i was driving to have more control. I started driving when about 10 offroad, in Manuals and me Mums Mini,s, or 1100 / 1300 Austin Automatics. I lost my leg at 17. Then Out of the dozens of 2 pedal cars i have driven or owned in 50 years the Toyota iQ 1.0 CVT was perfect. I even liked my Volvo 340 & 343 Selectamamatics, they were perfect in winter / snow. A favourite i had for 3 years was a Fiat Punto 1.2 Speedgear (CVT) Not a Duologic. The biggest issue and failure was a Transit Durashift. when it worked it was great, when it played up was when i found out the ex Demonstrator should have been scrapped and never sold, but i had bought off a disabled lady that raced huskies & had it converted to a camper at much expense and i had thought the hand controls and a failed brake light brought on the issues. It could still be changed manually by the buttons on the steering wheel.but that eventually stopped working. I have never been disappointed at the performance of any vehicle because it was an Automatic or Automated Manual or CVT. Probably because it is Horses for Course. @FilipSljeme I have no idea what country you are in or what you drive or if you fit appropriate tyres, but as far as Automatics and winter roads or even offroaders then all mine have been used in some of the most serious conditions and traction has never been an issue. Automatics are used in Winch Challenge, events, tyro,s, comp safaris etc. Correct tyres and the vehicle driven to conditions is what matters, for road use many Autos had a Snow Button, or maybe just a on / off overdrive button which is perfect for reducing speed, as is the S with a DSG. As to climbing, the issues can be 'Driver Error'. TC / ASR off might be necessary, or selecting modes or what ever. As to a Manual on the same tyres as a 2 pedal vehicle being more capable in extreme conditions i would like to know how steep this is supposed to be that having a clutch pedal and manual selection better and have more traction.
