  1. The only Public Charger i know that is still @ 55 pence a kWh for 50 kW DC charging, privately owned and using a Charge Place Scotland card. Debit / Credit / Electroverse take 70 pence. 41 kWh was £22.45. 3.5 miles a kWh. 143.5 miles probably. If petrol @ £6.36 a gallon then that would be 3.5 gallons. getting 41 mpg would be near as damn it the same cost. 55 pence a kWh is to me a fair enough price, but the 2 nearest charger that are Council owned are 70 pence a kWh and giving out under half the power and have a 1 hour limit. 1 has been blocked by a van locked in since last night. There is a max charge time daytime. But the van is no longer charger, still still locked in.
  2. @Graham Butcher I do not think that is @lol-lol you are speaking about and having been in this thread since the start i have no idea who you might mean. If it is @lol-lol you are talking about might as well say that.
  3. There are BEV,s at prices comparable to ICE vehicles and private users / drivers buying them, and the reason being quite possibly because they can charge at home on cheap tariffs, Not Business / Commercial,/ fleet drivers. Joe & Jane public that use their own money after tax to buy or lease.
  4. @Graham Butcher I just read some nonsense posted yesterday by you. Where is there anyone one here with an EV that has posted about EV,s being the best thing since sliced bread and ICE vehicles being a no no. I think everyone on here with an EV has an ICE vehicle as well or would use one. You somehow see what you want to see and not what people are actually discussing.
  5. A Full DVLA Safety Critical RECALL in the UK, so the Registered Keepers should be notified by VW Group since the DVLA gives their contact details. Those not on a V5 because Fleet Vehicle, Motability ex should still be given the recall but it can slip through, so not just a Dealers Phone Call but a RECALL in Writing.
  6. If it has a VAQ diff then yes at 3 years / 30,000 miles or sooner. Mk4 Octavia vRS now at 20,000 / 2 years.
  7. Until end of March the E5 and E10 delivered in the UK is the 'Winter formulation', and has been since late October in the North and November further south. Less hygroscopic. Quite possibly less Ethanol even in E10.
  8. Simples. Check car tyre pressures then you know. I do not trust people i do not know. I carry a tyre pressure gauge or check the screen on cars that tell you pressures or heat. Reason being, too many unprofessional professionals at dealerships. IME EV5,s drive lovely. PS, trusting that Transport Blocks are removed is just another issue. Cars taken off a Transporter and rubbish PDI,s are very common.
  9. @CubbyQ Just registered the day before is even more reason to check the tyre pressures IMO. If you drive enough demonstrators or loaners and check you will know it is 'Simply clever'. Sales Managers own car. Really, KIA,s or the Dealers car, that will be sold as Ex Management. I have a Kia dealership 1 mile away, and used to get to borrow cars........ Re Ice Scrappers. I have never needed an Ice Scrapper or De-icer with a BEV. Just turn up the heating, pre heat or in the car. 2 Minutes max and de-iced. Even at -10*oC. I have never used and ice scrapper on a car over more than 5 decades of northern Scotland winters, and never would.
  10. The 2018 Kangerooing (lack of torque) issue resulted in a Critical Safety recall & a software / engine management update. As to 2021/22 1.5 TSI,s there are those that report issues, but there will be many thousands that do not. Sub 40,000 miles the spark plugs should still have been replaced in 2025 or now in 2026.
  11. @Graham Butcher no need for confusion, the thread title is there to be seen. There are other threads on EV / car park, ship fires, or threads on many other subjects.
  12. Looking forward to reading on here anything that is new on the Truth about electric cars, vans, lorries, busses etc. Real stuff about them as transportation.
  13. Unless you adjust the tyre pressures of Demonstrators i would not take the car as being representative. Often the tyres are over inflated even at the PDI, or not adjusted from being 'In transit', some might even do it to have a PHEV / BEV appear more efficient. Youtube reviewers/ Vloggers, Motoring Journalists are bad for never checking or adjusting Tyre Pressures, as to Sale People, unlikely they do.
  14. Shirley / Surely it can be caused by Brimming the Tank, right up the pipe / hose, or venting. Exhaust Emissions light. Engine Light. Which is right, might show if Lambda sensor faulty, car sitting ticking over too long. E10 Petrol and bad spark plugs. Or as it showed with the OP.
  15. The wind can be high in streets, and it can be calm and hot, or low pressure or cold & wind free. Obviously you have no chest problems so would be none the wiser where there were issues. Really moan and grown about London and having to get with things, but there is a bigger world than just there, where there was Smog, and the supposed death total in a month in 2017, or when ever else. So it is all a hoax, faked science, just being done to make some rich and give some a good reason to moan.
  16. @CubbyQ Do you have to carry taller loads? Because there is supposedly just 10 litres more load capacity in the Skoda over the BMW with the rear seat folded, but it does depend who the numbers come from.
  17. @Graham Butcher Where is the gridlocked traffic pumping out particulates? So lovely where there is some rain and a breeze. Do you really just fail to see the bigger picture or are you just bl00dy minded. Reducing pollution is here to stay, unless you have the likes of Donald Trump who will scrap the measures in place. So maybe when Nigel Farage is PM and London has a Reform UK Mayor you can go about 'rolling coal'.
  18. Have you asked their Service Manager or Dealer Principle if they will? Did they do the wiring in-house or do they use a Contractor to hard wire Sat-navs and towbars / lights?
  19. I do not trust your experiences of City Centres & built up areas. You pick your locations selectively for your point. Leafy boulevards. Tree lined residential areas. But lets look at Low pressure & pollution and down it goes, cold air and you have a cold sink / temperature inversion. We know how they build properties in the Med, Middle east etc for cooling. Edinburgh and Glasgow are tenements lining streets even Dundee. Back when houses had chimneys and mills, foundries etc, even power stations had big chimneys and cooling towers the building still got filthy, as did washing on the line at times. Even today Edinburgh can stink from the Breweries, and that is in your nose at ground level or even in your car. Somehow it is there before ever blown out to the North Sea.
  20. All false is it, misunderstanding of data. Muppets quoting muppets. Was it not a Spokesperson that said it for him, and also a Deputy Mayor for the environment? They will not have been out monitoring the air personally or counting deaths and death certificates for 'Cause of death'. so who did count deaths for the month in 2017? Those bl00dy liars in Public Service jobs or contractors getting public money need punted. Misconduct in Public Office if deceiving the public. Make them walk every place or cycle. No Travel Expenses.
  21. Lots of Bus Stations / Stances and City Centres in Scotland or anywhere are in built up areas where there are high pollution levels / reading from there and other traffic and no onshore or offshore wind between buildings at ground levels. But that has been done to death in discussions and why there are LEZ,s or ULEMZ,s. But there are still those that argue all nonsense. They are welcome to their view, but just not to pleasing them self about what they can drive into them without maybe paying a penalty.
  22. April 2014, I remember the articles / reports that the English South Coast and even LONDON was supposedly getting high pollution blown across from FRANCE. ...............AI pretty much crap as The Office for National Statistics and AVERAGES. So 'Pollution', that will be like Environment, work, the good old days. Coal Miners, Farm Workers, Town Gas etc etc. Modern times, weather, Drinkers, Smokers, poor eaters, poverty or fast food availability, public transport or no public transport. Deep Fried Mars bars / Pizza Crunchie Suppers etc. HEALTHY LIFE EXPECTANCY, Diabetes, Heart / Liver, kidneys, LUNGS, environment, pollution as well as all the other stuff.
  23. @Graham Butcher Your neck of the woods really is only representative of places similar. I checked out Life Expectancy, and it was clear Averages might be from places like Your Neck of the woods while the average came about with areas of Average Deaths and much younger people in cities and towns further north in England. Plenty articles and statistics, but this AI sums it up.
  24. If set on Variable servicing then you can leave 24 months, or 18,000 months or even only 12 if you want. 18,000-20,000 miles even. But you might well want servicing annually. Safety inspections, brakes serviced, Suspension, steering, tyres etc changed. Pollen filter maybe sooner, Spark plugs or Air Filter at times other than in 2 year apart, or 4 or 6. Forget INSPECTION Service showing. That should have been set as Oil Service times. Or you can have OIL Service & Inspection showing year about. It does not just get an INSPECTION. Fixed, 9,400 miles, 372 days or sooner. Used to be Minor & Major Service, or Interim & Major, or Major / Major. Now Skoda Oil & Inspection Service annual & Extended Scope at 3 years, then at each 2. Service according to how you use the vehicle.
  25. I know a Local Courier who uses his own old car while at home is the Motability Supplied EV with his Blue Badge displayed. (for him not partner or other family member.) But then i know a Vermin Controller & Window cleaner who has a Blue Badge displayed on his vans dash. Funny how some are hounded by DWP or SSS & yet people can be blatant abusing the system.
