Possibility of change from my 2011 petrol Yeti DSG to a lower car ... e.g. an Octavia (in DSG Estate form)
The VW / Skoda DQ381 DSG wet clutch has not been fault free or reliable, nothing like. We will not know if the ones built in the last couple of years are any better for a year or so.

18 inch Tires Elroq 50
Look at what Skoda says is the size that is required when Snow Chains are being fitted. Then maybe point that out to the sales person. That sales person might be selling footware next month. Sales is sales.

Skoda is lying to us... in a good way. My 2025 Octavia vRS Mk 4.5 beat the official 0–100km/h claim.
I use Dragy often with cars, every loan car or new car i get. Demonstrators etc. I set the tyre pressures first usually and use the same section of roads. Often the road temp is low, but occasionally warmer, seldom heated by a beating down sun. Every car performs better than the Official figures. Then there are setting or modes as i only drive 2 pedal cars (Auto, Semi Auto, Servo Clutch, CVT etc.) It is good for the insurance that Performance Figures are played down. Many BEV,s official times are nothing like the real performance 0-62 mph or 0-100 mph. Many reviewers give a 0-60 MPH time or talk about that, the official figures are usually in Europe or the UK 0-100 Km / 62 mph, not 0-60. ........................ Below, MINI Electric & the crap sports tyres in the colder roads or damp or even a hotter road were poor compared to when All Seasons were fitted.

Whats the torque spec on the drive shaft?
Sorry no idea but i could check as others might do. Maybe an idea to tell what engine it is you are asking about in a 2013 Mk2 Fabia.

The BHP / PS & Nm is not the Max figures it is the Minimum you should expect, especially in the UK where the temperatures are not extreme, the fuel is what is says it is E5 97 or 99 Min or E10 95 min and you are never more than 3,000 ft above sea level. Skoda / SEAT often get lower performance figures officially than a more expensive and heavier VW or AUDI with the same drivetrain. They will even give a more expensive estate better performance figures than a hatch back, even just the 0-62 mph. Longer roof making no difference, car even heavier, maybe the stronger springs on the rear help though with traction at the front.

Timing belt replacement
They were at the 5 year time in 2023 and owners were not going to pay the ridiculous price at Main Dealers and were trading in cars rather than a huge 5 year Manufacturers guidelines, brakes, AC, cambelt, advised discs etc. So Franchised Dealers had cars that they would need to spend the supposed 6.5 hours doing the cam belt on. Many never had the equipment. Hense the Goose that laid the golden egg was slaughtered in the Non Dusty UK Region. So now Skoda / VW Approved Used cars might not have the Cam Belt changed.

the truth about electric cars
UK Strategy. That is just ridiculous. The Dude above needs to say UK Government and actions for ENGLAND when that applies,.,.,. or sometimes the British Isles or the UK. Location location location, like the explosion and charging increased numbers in Dundee. The 1/3rd that can not charge at home. More than 1/3 rd without home charging availability. Time the Office for National Statistics get on the case. How many homes at gound level or offroad parking. PS. The tartan shirt is about as close as he gets to anything Scottish in that video. Time that England gets the Nuclear going, the pylons and on shore not just offshore renewables, and battery storage up and operating. But as far as Battery Storage that applies in Scotland even more, what a carry on locals are kicking up around the Borders, across the Scottish Mainland and even on Islands about small. medium or huge battery storage facilities.

Timing belt replacement
Lots of expense as much as £1,000-£1,200. I would not be getting the cam belt changed at your mileage. Well actually i might because of how i drive. But normal use, if a technician will just check the belt i would be getting that done. I would get the spark plugs changed if not done, and the brake fluid, and have the air filter checked, probably replaced. Leave the DQ200 DSG well alone.

the truth about electric cars
Location location location and maybe 10-20 pence a difference per litre on the Gasoline / Derv. Very different from running EV,s where the kWh can be under 7 pence & the VAT only 5%, or over 10 times as much from a public charger and 20% VAT.

Timing belt replacement
@jazzyjeff Best you say what engine your car has, TSI (ACT or not) or a TDI and what capacity engine.

12V error, 48V error, driveshaft failure, loss of drive
Only a 3 years manufacturers warranty on a MHEV is ridiculous. Anyone getting one to keep best be sure to have an Extended Warranty covering the battery.

Winter roads, ice, snow and wet or dry driving in an EV..
For me the very best thing about a BEV is the speed and easy of de-icing / defrosting them and heating or demisting the interior. That is even without pre-conditioning or remotely starting the procedure. I did curse at the MINI Electric because clearing the screen took time, but then it turned out the AC / Demisting was faulty from the factory and a whole new system was required under warranty. It was only after 2 winters at the first proper service they discovered this. I just thought it was built to suit theLeft Hand drive cars. Glass all free of frost in 2 minutes from turning on the car.

the truth about electric cars
There is no incentive from the UK Government for private drivers without the ability to charge at home or offpeak charging to drive an EV over an ICE vehicle. The Grants / Reductions in the price of a new BEV might appeal to some, but if they can only Public Charge then they need to be aware of just what the running costs are of the purchase / lease and running costs, now and then once PPM comes in in 2028 if it does. PHEV,s as well. It really looks like the Chancellor & Treasury employees and the Secretary of state for transport are clueless to the cost of Public Charging. Probably because money in and out of their bank account is easy come easy go and claim on expenses or be driven by others while on duty, or even off.

the truth about electric cars
@domhnall I am not bitter, but it is another of the Social divides, one that seems to keeps being ignored by those that can do their charging at home, those that drive not just for private use, and those that get help or repaid for buying the energy / fuel fully or partly for business use. Be that electric or liquid fuel. Liquid will be public at known prices, electric can be cheap rate at home / work or public. There are plenty Ultra Fast Chargers around now, but unless a Tesla, Porsche or Ionity north of Tayside you are paying in the 75 pence or above a kW for Rapid charging. That now includes Council operated chargers. That is now say £7.00 for 10 kWh so maybe for 27-45 miles. If you are driving as part of your work or to get too or from then you might have the various Subscriptions paid up and able to use an operator even just occasionally and pay the likles of 43 pence a kWh. Tesla non Tesla offpeak is what works for me when i am near at the right times. InstaVolt offpeak using the App as well. Otherwise it is MFG and pay the high price of convenience and reliability.

Brake fluid change cost at dealer
People might well not want to be paying for it. There are many here that post they have never changed brake fluid on vehicles and not crashed and died. Skoda Approved Used Cars. FULL MAIN DEALER SERVICE HISTORY. They will sell you are car not Serviced to the Manufacturers Guidelines, Schedule or advised servicing. They will sell them with no history of Brake Fluid service replacement at 2 or 3 or 4 years and they will often not do it as a Pre Sale service.

Space Saver Spare Tyre
What size tyres are on your car? Best get a good steel wheel with an identical circumference of a tyre since you have Haldex if you might have to carry on travelling for more than just a few miles at a much reduced speed. @Carlston will know what your options are.

Royal Green
Discounts make no difference to the £40,000 & VED. If the car was already in stock, it is the Manufacturers List Price that matters @ the time of purchase. Many have been caught out thinking they managed to be below £40,000

- Brake fluid change cost at dealer
Testing of the brake fluid for H20 is 'Simply Clever'. it is obviously just the brake fluid in the reservoir that is tested because they are not letting any out of the calipers and testing that.- Tail Lights
Surely the Tail Lights come on with the Sidelight on and Headlights, is it with the DRL,s at the front on you want the rears on? Parking lights are One front and one rear sidelights on when the indicator down and ignition off. Side / Position Lights are not Parking Lights. Not in the UK anyway. - Royal Green
