  1. Broken spring? Sounds a bit metallic for a bushing?
  2. Booked in for MOT before end of warranty, will add this to the booking.
  3. Unfortunately, yes. G13 Mit silikat.
  4. Checked the coolant level and noticed a very fine layer/coating of red "something" inside the tank. It wipes off easily with my finger, coolant is crystal clear with a light red tint. I have never needed to top up the coolant. Car has never given cause for concern (well not engine wise). Car is a MY19 1.6 diesel. 25k miles. Main dealer serviced. It will be going to the local main dealer for it's first MOT just before the warranty ends. I would welcome your thoughts before I become paranoid about the infamous "tea bag".
  5. I've done the same as 3rdoctavia.
  6. Thanks paulski for this post. I run a 2007 and a 2019 Octavia and had noticed the 2019 warmed significantly faster than the 2007, now I know why😁
  7. From memory I really doubt you could put the MKII rails and floor in a MKIII, I am happy to be corrected. But not sure why you would want to do that, have seen the MKIII floor in it's upper and lower position up close? I could send you pics if it would help.
  8. I have had exactly the same issue moving from a MKII. Suggest you take your crate and try it in the new car in both the upper and lower position. I took my crate to a Skoda dealer and asked them if i could try it out (no need to tell them you have already bought a new car. They were cooperative as were BMW, Volvo, Audi, Seat and Peugeot, Mazda did not help😁. My crate fits in the MKIII and I find the new floor arrangement quite good.
  9. I replaced mine a few years ago and remember finding more than a few internet sites offering replacement struts for Skodas. Beware stronger struts as they will also increase the pull down force as "The Boss" made clear to me!
  10. I did need a bumper cut on mine but you need to lay on your back and look up to see it😁
  11. Do you know if your quote includes a cooling system upgrade? There are posts and and information online that suggests some cars in some countries need an upgrade for "proper" towing. Obviously if you are only carrying bikes it would be overkill.
  12. I had a Westfalia with dedicated electronics and removable swan neck ball fitted on my drive for £550. I commented in an earlier post (03/01/20022) in this forum with some details. It was fitted a couple of years ago so prices may have gone up a bit.
  13. I use a double press of lock button on the key fob. You will see the indicator lights flash for each press. Timing is crucial too fast or too slow and I only get a single flash of the indicators and "I think" this means the alarm is still armed.
  14. My experience is probably 20 years old so may not be relevant. Had a 406 estate, diverter flap under the dash failed to move and continuously clicked if you tried to change the air flow. Tried to claim as it was a dash out job. They refused on the grounds that the A/C and heater still worked and the warranty only covered complete failure. They were polite but had highly trained call centre staff who took me around in circles until I lost the will to live!
  15. If it's any help checked old receipt from November 2019. Towbar 317132-mbwf including hook £315 dedicated electrics 305408300113 £224 13-7 pin adaptor £10 Not the same as yours, not sure of differences, might be something to do with the electric boot which I have? Includes labour.
  16. Looks like the one I had fitted in the UK, cost me £550 fitted on my drive by an independent, not a dealer. Everything works as expected. Your quote looks high, there is great debate about whether a cooling system upgrade is required. Does your price include an upgrade?
  17. paulski your comment is oh so true but you missed the "we can't find a fault code so it didn't happen"
  18. Out of curiosity, rather than anticipation, how long will a 1.6 tdi run on say 10 ltr of diesel if you get stuck (obviously not in a snow drift due to fumes) and you need heat? I suppose the calculation is complicated as the engine could be turned off for periods of time. Also could this damage the engine?
  19. A bit of heat might help, aim would be to heat the alloy collar quickly but not the shaft. You would need the right equipment, a fine nozzle blowtorch and a heat resistant soldering pad to protect the glass/paint etc. Really a last resort given the location unless you have the equipment and the skill. A puller would be my first choice.
  20. As an aside and not wishing to hijack your post. If you do some research on the internet there are some views on the subject of EFB or AGM suggesting that for many users an EFB is at least equal to an AGM and cheaper. I am no expert and it does not seem clear to me but nevertheless interesting .
  21. Just an observation that probably does not relate to your problem. My trunk opened once by 1/3rd, I gently pushed it up to the full height and then pressed the close button. It has worked correctly since (hopefully not jinxed it by saying this !)
  22. I seem to recall a post somewhere, (my memory fails me) where it was suggested the two prongs on the sensor inside the header tank get a coating on them and need cleaning. Might be worth a try?
  23. While researching a leisure battery for my caravan I came across various articles or views on AGMs not being the "gold standard" compared to EFBs. I had seen that EFBs were fitted to most cars but "upmarket brands", such as BMWs, got AGMs. The thoughts were the development effort put into EFBs meant they were a challenge to the more expensive AGMs and that they were starting to be fitted to the upmarket brands. I am interested in people's views and any real life experience in advance of having to replace my EFB. I did end up buying an AGM for my caravan based on the claim that they are much slower to self discharge.
  24. Pulling the plug worked on my 07.
  25. Suggest you do some research on this site. Seems there is an issue around an acceptable level of oil on shocks, sometimes referred to as "mist" . MOT inspectors often list it as advisory. My MK2 had an advisory on one MOT, same inspector over the following years never mentioned it again. It has now done 165K miles still on the original "leaking" shocks. Maybe get a second opinion from another garage before spending money.
