  1. Mine has not faded but does have some very fine scratches. I was wondering if it could be replaced/covered with "car foil" https://www.autopartspro.co.uk/tips-advice/diy-car-wrapping-825 and what would be the cost, has anyone done this?
  2. I would also suggest checking the wheel bearing. I have replaced 3 on my Mk II, the first was at around 100k. All 3 were as a result of annoying droning and not as a result of an MOT failure, in fact one garage checked the bearing and were doubtful it was the source of the noise.
  3. I had a similar issue with a broken front spring on on a Peugeot 406 many years ago, took out the brake hose and CV boot. I have had 4 broken rear springs on my 2007 Octavia so not impossible, I suspect Wino above may not be short of the mark.
  4. Ray Luxury-Yacht, I find your post interesting and have the same thoughts as you. So I was surprised to have a "Diesel fuel cleanse" included in my first service by my local Skoda main agent. The car had only done 10K. I politely declined the offer and saved £25. I assumed it was upselling or am I missing something?
  5. I found that scuffing on my wheel faded over time from simply using it. Obviously going to depend on level of scuffing. I imagine it was the polishing from hands.
  6. You may want to think about rubber mats, so much easier to keep clean and "possibly" aid sound reduction. I have OE Skoda mats, not cheap but a perfect fit. Sold the originals to part fund (50%) the new rubber mats .
  7. Got a 2007 with 165000 miles. Many years ago got an advisory for misting on front shocks. They are still working and no more advisories, have used the same MOT station for past 10 years.
  8. Out of curiosity do you know how it does this?
  9. I think pikpilot may be correct, a regas solved a similar problem for me on a 2007
  10. ACC with DSG, after having them on my latest car would never be without them.
  11. Need a car quickly! 2007 1.9 TDI 105bhp - thoughts/opinions.... By Raker, 23 June Still can't create a link but this should help you find it. Not exactly what you are looking for but may help you. Currently on page 4 of this forum.
  12. There has been another recent post almost identical to your post, not sure how to link to it but but a quick search should find it.
  13. Minor point, I have a 2007 1.9tdi and over lockdown found I needed to charge at least once per month to keep the voltage up, admittedly the battery was 5 years old
  14. Not seen what you have but do know I had to take mine for a very short drive (200m) to get a load of dashboards light to turn off.
  15. The condenser is behind the front grill along with the radiator and is a pain to replace and not too cheap. "The condenser works like your car’s radiator by dissipating out heat but also cooling the high-pressure refrigerant gas so it forms into a high-pressure liquid."
  16. I've got a 2007 1.9 estate 163,000m. Has been reliable apart from 4 broken rear spring over the years, check carefully as not obvious on a test drive or a quick look underneath. Last MOT had an advisory about corrosion but was told it had a good few years left. Now used as a local runaround going to the tip and taking the supermarket dings. Watch for the airbag warning light, well known problem with the connector under drivers seat. Fixed mine in an hour once the problem was identified. Also had to replace driver's door lock, DIYable but fiddly, don't think it is a common problem. Did have to replace the A/C condenser a few years ago, corrosion in bottom corner. I would pay £1500 for mine if I needed a local runaround, not sure I would take it to France again!
  17. Had mine for 1 1/2 years. Combined with ACC its so much easier on long boring motorway journeys. I agree with comment on autostop above, my routine is engine start/autostop off. I would not go back to a manual. Copes well towing a caravan.
  18. I have the same engine can you tell me what the problem and fix was just in case I have an issue in the future?
  19. Google Michelin for a view on tyre age, I know yours are not Michelin but an interesting article suggesting 10 years for replacement. Lots of ifs and buts of course.
  20. J.R your right. I should have phrased my reply differently and expressed an opinion and not advice. I personally would only buy OEM or a major brand having spent too many years working for a large German multinational sourcing, amongst other products, belts.
  21. Having bought belts as part of my job from Conti and Gates, not all belts are equal. Stick with the big brands and OEM.
  22. I believe so according to earlier posts and it say "Mit Silikat" in the tank.
  23. I have an early 2019 and it has the double wall mit silikat. I will be changing it when the car is out of warranty. Have suffered a VAG corrosion protection screw up years ago on a Golf MKII when at 5 years old the core plugs rusted through!
  24. If the're the ones I'm thinking of when I needed to change the door lock I got mine from the dealer surprisingly reasonably priced. Be warned they are heavy duty so you will need a large pop riveter ( I broke two cheap small ones before borrowing a big one). Alternatively I saw someone drill some alternative holes and use DIY sized rivets available anywhere, B & Q?
