Flood water damage to front causing steam from front of Octavia MkIII vRS
Suggest you check your plastic undertrays if you went through deepish water at any speed. We have plenty of bits of plastic littering a local road/sometimes fordπ.

replacement caravan bulbs and coding
I have a caravan with a mix of bulbs, LED front and side marker lights and a high level LED brake light. The rear lights, brake, running and indicators are old fashioned filament bulbs. I do have a genuine Skoda tow bar wiring loom maybe this helps?

Replace old front shocks on combi 2.0 diesel, are vrs shocks a straight swap
Are you sure they need replacing? I had a MK2 Octavia for 13 years from nearly new and occasionally had "observations" when tested of misting. Sold it with 150K on the clock and original shocks with an MOT from a very picky examiner.

DIY Radiator Replacement
There have been some posts recently about refilling the cooling system on a 1.6. Might be worth a read as it seems there is a special procedure required when refilling the cooling system.

Spare wheel and Variable boot floor
I have a full size wheel ( from a scrap yard) under a variable floor, not a problem with my 2019 octavia estate. Didn't fancy a space saver wheel when towing a caravan.

Panoramic roof sunshade
Activating operation of the sunshade ο€ Read and observe and on page 70 first. If the operation of sunshade is deactivated (e.g. after disconnecting and connecting the battery), then the operation will have to be activated. βΊ Turn on the ignition and set the switch to position οͺ Β» Fig. 65 on page 71. βΊ Press the button ο and hold down. The sunshade opens and closes again after around 10 seconds. βΊ Release the button. The above is from the manual, suggest you look it up as my copy and paste is missing the pictures. It is some time since I did this. I think I had to do it a couple of times before it sorted itself. Basically you are cycling the opening and closing while keeping the button pressed.

Tyres again
I fitted Michelin crossclimate 2s for a variety of reasons and have found them to be reasonably quiet compared to the energy saver tyres. Not a scientific assessment as the old tyres were near their limit.

Looking to purchase; some advice required
First thing I did was change the 18s for 16s. I got lucky and sold the 18s for what I paid for a nearly new set of 16s with good tyres. Never regretted it.

Strange sound above ~80km/h
I cannot make out the noise from the recording. You said the noise was noticeable when turning and loading the wheel. Bit of a long shot, could it be a stone trapped between the brake disc and shield? I've had a number of these and are the devil's own trying to track them down.

Changing the rims from 16' to 18' is a sensible thing to do?
Mine came with 18's, kerbed them in the first week (first time in decades). Changed for 16's. Sale of 18's covered the cost of the 16. Never regretted it, better ride, lower noise(might be the tyres of course) haven't kerbed them in 4 years. With beam axle I was never going to notice a difference in handlingπ. Which I did notice moving from IRS.

VRS INSURANCE- WHOS THE BEST COMPANY TO GO TO

Estate rear end just slid out a little easily?
Any chance there was a diesel spill on the corner?

octavia scout used in anger π
Interested in your view of CC2s. Recently fitted a set to a FWD MK3 in the hope they would help (not expecting mud plugging performance) towing a caravan on wet camping fields. Sounds like I may have made a good choice.

What to do about gouges on right side skirt?
Personally, I would get an MOT inspector to confirm there are no structural integrity issues and then ignore it.

KESSY issues
Maybe a controversial viewπ€. If the thieves have mastered the technique of cracking Kessy why steal a Skoda as opposed to a Range Rover or other high value car? Skodas do not appear in the top 15 most stolen car list. I wonder how many Skodas with Kessy on this forum have ever been stolen? At the risk of tempting fate, I like Kessy and I like the idea that Skodas are not a target car. Maybe investigate a Faraday key box?

Silica bag question
Small digression, do you know why the inside of the tank after a few years has a brown coating? My Mk2 was clean as a whistle after 15 years.

Octavia mk3 buying advice - what to avoid?
Stook, can you tell me what the issue is with the coolant not being bright pink please? I am familiar with the teabag issue, are the two connected?

Panoramic sunroof leaking
I have a pano roof (which has not yet leaked) but have researched in preparation. Sadly there are many threads on this site, see the Yeti forum. More widely suggest you look at all the VAG sites and other car makers. It seems to be very common.

Electric tailgate issues
Happens to me occasionally. Have you tried closing it (using the button) then opening it again? I had mine replaced under warranty as they occasionally juddered when opening in addition to stopping half way up. The replacements are now starting to act up. In hindsight I am not sure I would have an electric tailgate or a panoramic roof on a car I was planning to keep beyond the warranty period.

SOLVED: Flapping / rattling noise at high speed...!
I assume you have checked the under trays/shields are secure and not hanging down or damaged?
-
Battery cover
My 2019 1.6 TDI does not have a lid, just a "fabric sleeve". Seem to remember the sleeve is some sort of heat insulator, but I may be wrong.

Dash rattle?
Phoenixboy, interestingly my long term average is very similar, on longer runs often over 60 and on a few occasions got 70 (according to the computer not a tank fill to fill)

Dash rattle?
I have a 2019 1.6 dsg diesel with the same noise. I look forward to someone offering some advice, I have been trying to find the source for a couple of years!

A faint rattle when applying breaks
You're looking for a piece of gravel/stone trapped between the disc and the shield or around the caliper. It may be difficult to see, the first time it happened to me I ended up having the brake assembly dismantled under warranty. The garage presented me with a piece of gravel highly polished on one side, and a bill for Β£50, not a manufacturing fault so I had to pay.,

Hiya and Towing advice
Upside of the 1.6 may be that I get 34 mpg towing, but then maybe it is my sedate approach to towing.
