  1. Yep!! TransCity and I have a 'history', from the old days when I had a felicia. That is why I bought the Octy from Preston Motors in Forest gate and they service it. Very helpful and professional!! OK, I bought the car from them, but they have made a living out of Skodas for about 40 years, without having to diversify into other makes
  2. Do a search, there are several threads about wipers. As I recall you can get rubbers only from VW dealers for about a fiver
  3. Just what I need, but I can't find it as described on the Belkin web site! Is it this one?..Belkin : Mobile Power Cord for iPod w/ Dock Connector
  4. , So, I need to pull the mirror off. Can I do all the job after that? Sorry, badly worded! I meant, can I do the rest of the job without major dismantling?
  5. Clashed door mirrors with a BMW, and thought that I had got away with it, but closer inspection shows that his mirror had gone under mine, breaking the lens on the indicator repeater. Does anyone know if it is possible to get the lens, or repeater light assembly, as a separate item? If possible, is it a simple job to fit? Thanks Obadiah
  6. I have never really got the hang of the thing, but it should slide back if it is down and level.
  7. There have been a couple of threads about this subject recenlty. So, personal info from me...... We wnet to pick up our new caravan yesterday, which involved a trip from NE London to North Norfolk, with an over night stop to play with the new toy. Tow car 1.9Tdi Estate 4x4. Caravan Gobur Carousel 749Kg ex works. what wa in it had mainly gone up in the car, probably about 50Kg. Performance. More than adequate. I tried one 'can I get out and moving before that car gets here' at a junction, and ended up pulling away from him, so good acceleration. Normal driving - considering weight on the ball good, although there is a tendency to need one gear lower. having said that, cruising at 50mph - limit in single carriageway - 6th can be a little high, as the engine is below the turbo. On dual carriageways there were few problems maintaining the 60 limit, in sixth. Any downsides? Only the one trip fuel consumption going 54+mpg. coming back? Mid 30's. Am I happy to carry on with the outfit? YES!
  8. Certainly not normal. mine works normally with both trailer and trailer board!
  9. if the car was designed like this, I suspect that you would upset the whole geometry by changing the track. Something which should be done by someone who knows what they are doing, and has the equipment to check the results.
  10. Boot sockte is definitely estates only. There was a thread on here about a week ago, which gave several suggestions as to cable routing for the extra socket. As regards draining the battery, have a good look at the coller box market. We have a Coleman box, which is many years old, but incorporates a voltage sensor, so IT cuts off when the battery gets low. NB, take a tape measure. Our box is too tall for the estate boot (with VBF), so you can't close the cover!
  11. Hope it works, because we pick up our caravan on Tuesday!!! Seriously, we have towed a van trailer with MGW of 1 ton (Imperial ton, 'cos it's rather old!) and had no problems at all. Loads of torque, although 5th gear gets used rather more than usual. I have no fear of towing the caravan (Gobur Carousel max 1000kg)
  12. Always usd Thule and never had any problems. curently have them on my Estate. One word of advice, get the aero bars, mine are the square type, brought from my last car and they are damn noisy!!
  13. Off to France in a couple of weeks and collecting all the necessary bits. As my tool kit is a bit antique, col ld someone please advise me as to what tools I need to do bulb changes, please?
  14. What worries me even more, is that they will be forced to add bio to diesel as well. My fuel filler flap has a sticker that clearly says NO BIO!!
  15. Only experience of a modern hatch was the three hour test drive, but I don't think it's any worse. Find a friendly dealer who will let you take one out for an extended test!!
  16. Sympathise!! Octy looked so much bigger that the Suzuki. I only have SWMBO, 2 dogs and STUFF, and still run out of space. next big trip is to collect the new caravan. Looked at the pile of stuff accumulating and bought..Skoda Octavia est (05 on) :Rear bag size SWR (105 x 95 x 72H)- SILVER no. ERSSWR, so I can seriously stuff the whole boot!!
  17. thats the anooying thing. Mine has a proper tyre on it, but because of the silly sticker Mr Plod would spot me going too fast. I suspect that mine is fitted with this because the haldx causes a slightly shallower boot!
  18. But some are intrchangeable. mine were bought for a Suzuki Grand Vitara, but are OK for the Octy Estate (not just OK, but the same on the Thule fitting list!)
  19. I have always ssumed, from posts in here, that the MY runs from somewhere in the middle of thecalendar year, hence the question...
  20. What really irritates me is that my 4x4 comes with a 'space saver', which is 195, against 205, but it is still labelled as 80mph max!!
  21. On the Yeti thread it says that the new unit was fitted from Week 48 of MY08. How do I work out when mine was built?
  22. 6. Yes, I got 13 pin electrics with a 7n adapter. Current retail for a 7n/7s adapter is about £20. Cost last year was about £250.
  23. Was certainly available separately when i bought mine last year!
  24. Nearly a year old, First Service time. Rang up to arrange, told they had a slot today, if I was in by 8.30, I would be away by 9.30. Arrived at 8.20, they opened a few minutes later, booked in. Finally left at 9.50. Good service? Judge for yourself! Check list has 7 items. Oil and filter change, I have to take on trust. Re-chrck oil level, will do again later Check brake linigs, again, have to take on trust Reset service interval display ditto Recode service interval display ditto " " " " Fill in next service due sticker and attach to end of dash panel....ooops! Fill in mirror label and secure to mirror oooops!! So, the five things I cannot fully check, are they done? The two things I can check are not done! I can but wonder??
  25. I would rather be without it!!! Once it is tripped the damned thing keeps falsing at you every few minutes. Truly great if you have no spare fluid on board and you are driving in the dark. My VBF is slowly filling up with all the things that I feel I need to stop warning lights!!
