  1. On a similar subject (sort of) I just bought a set of bosch wipers for my octy rs. They didn't have the ones specified for the octy but a set of 21/19 AS ones fitted and work fine although the driver side spoiler is a little smaller than the original.
  2. I've just got back in from fleetwood (nr blackpool) which was a 280 mile trip. My Octy vrs was fully laden with 2 adults + 3 kids, boot full of bags/toys etc. I made 32.5 mpg avg over each 140 mile trip at over 80mph. I didn't have a bike rack attached though!
  3. You might even go so far as to say that a remapped octy would last longer than a standard one coz it dosn't need to be worked so hard to attain same acceleration/speed....I'll fetch my coat:D
  4. I have a couple on the sill of my octy, Revo and Forge. Just don't go OTT with them otherwise they will look VERY ****. Stay clear of the Kenwood et-al as they look tacky imo. Stick (excuse the pun) to manufacturers that provide mods for the octy or even better just use the stickers in accordance with the mods you actually have on the car...nothing worse than seeing the nova brigade with the Trust/HKS/Apexi etc etc stuck on the side of there cars.
  5. LTC tyres is where I got my 18" from. Lots of retailers are selling them via ebay. Just type in RS6 alloy on ebay and you will see around 20 different vendors.
  6. I would say around 250bhp max is the most you can realisticly go with bolt on mods and a remap. You could always get NoS...thats my next option tbh once the handling is sorted which should see a 50hp boost (I wouldn't use a 100 shot tbh). I was chatting to Sarah about the GT28 and a very rough estimate was around the 5k mark...before I even think about going down that road alot of 'strengthening' needs to be done. Clutch, brakes, engine internals etc etc etc.
  7. 300 miles per 50 litres is what I get on 95RON...320-330 on optimax/ultimate. Highest avg I've seen is 37mpg (65mph motorway driving) Lowest avg I've seen is 19mpg (b-road antics) Normal driving is around the 28-30 mark.
  8. Has anyone bought(and fitted) a bike rack from halfords? Fitted mine the other day (
  9. I think the temperature gauge is for water not oil.
  10. Only if you can get the 17 oems (with contis) to stick as well as aftermarket tyres (proxes etc)....there is also cornering to think of. Larger sidewall = less stability. Must admit I noticed a little decrease on 0-60 performance, just didn't feel as 'brisk', saying that I dont get as much wheel spin (with esp off) with the 18's as I did with the 17s so that will no doubt counter the effects. I think it was Continental who ironicly said - "Power is nothing without control"! (maybe it was pirelli).
  11. Had my vrs serviced at 17k and the dealer reported that I had only used apx 10-15% of the pads on front...which was nice:)
  12. Not had it since the weekend but it will almost certainly appear again. Is replacing the throttle bodies a big job? I ask because I've got it booked in for some warrenty work already (rad mounts) whihc is gonna take half a day apparently!
  13. I noticed today that my boost pressure had dropped from 20 psi to 9 psi (via boost gauge). There was obviously a noticable drop in power as the turbo didn't seem to be fully spooling up (in any gear). Searched the forums and it seems a few people have had similar problems. After restarting engine, boost pressure is back to 20 psi and everything is running fine. At no time were there any warning lights. My Vrs has 18,000 mls on the clock, run on optimax but this happened when on 95ron...mods below. I have checked all the hoses and all seem to be tightly fitted. I recently had the dump valve (007p) serviced and changed the spring from green(soft) to yellow (hard), I also had a samco tip fitted. Could either of these have contributed to this temporary loss of boost as this is the first time this has happened. In veiw of the above, what are everyones opinions of how to permanently rectify this problem? Head gasket...MAF...throttle bodies?
  14. /me sits drooling over spoiler :orb_snowb
  15. That is very nice as is m8! A full respray with full decal kit is in order me thinks. Where did you get this from? And where do you get the decal kits from?
  16. Personally speaking, if all this live 8 thing saves just one child then imo it will have been worth it. Unfortunately the money that is meant to 'make povert history' will probably serve to kill countless more than it saves due to the corrupt souls in Africa who instead of buying grain and farming eqpt will 'invest' in guns, rockets etc I also agree that we have our own problems and that helping people who are not willing to help themselves is a waste. The last Live Aid obviously didn't work as we wouldn't need another one....will this one? I doubt it very much with all the corruption and civil unrest in africa. Yet because certain celebrities have there heads up there own backsides they think they can save the world and make it all rosy again. Never gonna happen. I find it amusing to think that they believe that staging a few concerts worldwide will make the world leaders (who have no regret for bombing a country already in civil unrestl and debt) abolish debt, how conceited is that? Laughable. I'll wager that some will 'promise' to abolish the debt yet fail to follow through with there 'promise' once the hype surrounding live 8 dies its death. Sorry to be totally un-PC but facts speak for themselves. 'the poor always being fooked over by the rich...always have...always will' - King, Platoon.
  17. As per pm mine are ET35 (225/40/18) with no problems rubbing although the arches do get pretty close (fingers width) when fully laden.
  18. EddyH has done the full 'works' to his RS. LED's and MFD now blue/red. Looks very nice when done. The info he sent me was too advanced for my non-electrical knowledge tho:(. The changing of the led's was the 'easy' bit but the MFD is apparently a pain in the ass.
  19. PCD : 5 x 100 Offset : et 35 ( I think) Tyres : 225/40/18 Hope this helps
  20. I've got one of them sponges in mesh too. Probably the best labour saving
  21. Sorry to hear that. It all depends on how deep the scratches go. If you can feel it with your fingernail then I doubt it. If anything will remove them tho scratchX will, so its worth a try. You may get away with disguising it if you apply plenty of layers of was to the area. This will make them less noticable. As for those at the 'hand carwash' I wouldn't trust anyone to do a good job who was getting paid the minimum wage. I'll wager the sponge/cloth they use is also used to clean arches of 4X4's...think of the grit that will get embedded in that very same sponge they used on your once pristine paintwork. Live 'n learn I guess:(.
  22. A m8 of mine had a fuel pump on his focus give up the ghost and it cost
  23. Finally got an A-pilar pod that fits!!! Got it fitted by JBS last Friday. Well chuffed with it:D which is more than can be said with the dodgy camera phone I took the pics with:O .
