  1. I did mate, just gave it a good yank and off it came, complete too, I thought the anti-theft tip would come off but it didn't, put the new one on and am a lot happier with it. It's a few cm's shorter but doesn't affect the reception and looks better in my opinion. I think it was only about four and a half quid! Well chuffed!
  2. I work at the Nissan plant in Sunderland and a lot of the lads (of all ages) drive the Qashqai and not one of them has a bad thing to say about it! Might be worth a look... 2 diesel engines 1.5, 2.0 which are very quiet when you're sat in it... 2 petrol engines 1.6, 2.0... Some models have 4WD... 150bhp on the 2.0 diesel... Plenty room inside, decent spec even on the base model, drive very well... I hear they're pretty well built too!
  3. I took mine off last year, it was a hot day so didn't bother with the hairdryer malarky just pulled them off really carefully. It only left a couple of bubbles on the near-side rear door which haven't left too bad a mark barely visible to tell the truth! Really pleased I did it though, cleaner lines and all that! Makes a subtle difference IMO. One thing I would say is that the silver Fabs seem more prone to the bubbling effect (possibly softer metallic paint compared to the solid colours? Not sure) I would post pics if I knew how to, I'm busy detailing it at the minute so when I've finished I'll take some pics and have a go posting them!
  4. Cheers Andrew, Gaz, appreciate the quick replies, I'll give it a bash... What's that famous saying? What's the worst that could happen?
  5. I bought a Seat Ibiza aerial yesterday from a Seat dealer yesterday after reading the popular Seat Mod thread and was going to fit it today but can I get the bugger off? In a word NO! I know they're designed to be anti-theft so was just wondering if there was any knack of getting them off easily! I've searched the forum for answers but can't find anything specific to the Fabia. Is the aerial on the Octavia the same, as a few people have said just give it a tug upwards to break the tip off! Now you may ask "why change it?" The reason is the one that is on at the minute is ****-eyed and looks a bit sh!t, tried to straighten it but just goes back to the way it was! Any help would be appreciated, cheers!
  6. +1 Absolutely loved your first Fab Vrs, the TT comps were the best I've seen! Big fan of the focus too! P.S. Welcome back!
  7. I used to use the Megs Hot Rims and was happy with the clean it gave, however, I was told it was quite acidic so switched to Bilberry and  it's tremendous! Smells nice too! Honestly I've used umpteen different wheel cleaners and this by far gives the best results! One more thing I would say is use the 2 bucket method when cleaning your pride and joy! 1 bucket to wash in and another with just water to rinse out your washmitt after every sweep! You'll reduce the chance of putting swirls and small scratches on the bodywork!
  8. Never seen them before. I know when I bought mine it had a couple of the nut covers missing but managed to pick them up at the dealer for peanuts! What you have sound a bit like an aftermarket jobbie. Could you not just whip them all off and replace them with the black plastic covers? Might be easier. If not, hope you get lucky finding the ones you want!
  9. Are these Audi TT jacking point protectors readily available from an Audi dealer then? Just curious! Any idea of a part number? Just don't want to look a complete tool if I go in and ask for them by name as I have no idea what they look like!
  10. SWMBO calls mine "Delilah" Just because the reg number starts YY Told her we're missing a Y and she's a bit daft! I haven't told her but I really like it!
  11. I love my silver Vrs but if I could I'd swap it for an SE in a heartbeat! I love the colour, leather seats, etc, etc and I KNOW I could get leather for mine, cruise, etc but I wouldn't, I'd rather have it on the car already if you know what I mean!
  12. I like to do this and park as far away as possible from any cars, however I've lost count how many times some t!t has parked right next to me! I swear if I was the only car in the bloody car park someone would park their hunk of junk as close as they could to my drivers door!
  13. Black-Cat (Garry) Bishop Auckland Really hope the NE Detailing meet in May happens, thoroughly enjoyed the last one I went to up there!
  14. I had this problem on my 05 Fabia Vrs too, absolutely drove me crackers. All bulbs were fine, replaced all of them anyway to see if it would make any difference, did it b0ll0cks. Had it in at the local VW garage who couldn't find a fault and were as stumped as me as to what was wrong. Luckily I had a few weeks left on the warranty so took it in to the Skoda garage where I got it and they turned the warning lamp and buzzer off via VagCom. Unfortunately it must be linked with the windscreen fluid level as that no longer has any warning when it's low! Touch wood, no problems since! HTH
  15. Looks the dogs danglies fella.... P.S. The grille looks 100% better painted and suits the car better (I think I've said that before on another thread of yours!)
  16. Looking really good so far, can't wait to see the end result!
  17. Hope you enjoy it... P.S. Best colour IMO.......................
  18. Motorsportworld.co.uk (I think) had the springs for £150.20 inc vat and delivery.. Looks like you've found a better price though, if it includes VAT
  19. Cheers D, just wanted to have another look at it after buying some Eibachs'...
  20. As title really, searched, searched and then some but can't seem to find it! Just keeps bringing up an error message!
  21. Up until two years ago I worked for Halfords and did so for 15 years, felt a lot longer believe me! I ran the "Ahem" Auto-Clinic or Parts Desk or whatever you want to call it along with one other fella and don't really want to blow my own trumpet but I'd like to think we did a really good, competent job. We had customers travelling from other stores to have parts fitted all because of our reputation. Anyway, just wanted to say that the staff training Halfords bang on about is non-existent nowadays, the company is cutting costs left, right and centre and all the experienced staff who knew what they were doing moved on. A lot of my friends are Managers or Deputies in Halfords and can't believe the way things are going. One more thing regarding the fitting, I lost count how many times I was asked how much it was to have brake pads, wheel bearings and exhausts fitted in our store car park! It's not just the staff which are sometimes a bit on the numb side!
