  1. Ive looked at these a few times but the sales blurb on the ebay ad says VRS 07-08 only, didnt realise there was a difference bodywork wise, or maybe theyre just talking plop. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SKODA-OCTAVIA-5DR-VRS-07-2008-RGM-REAR-GUARD-ROTECTOR-/250648596433?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a5bd20fd1

    DOGGY BAGS

Keep your hands warm in this cold weather too
  3. Saw these on the car yesterday, they do look the dogs cogs. quote from that site. Interesting.
  4. Last time I looked the 500 wasnt compatible on Octys, maybe things have changed. The 300 CAN should do what you want. EDIT: Cant see the adaptors on their site anymore, Im sure they did a Bluetooth add on for the 300 :wonder: Maybe the Gateway 5 would be better (dension site has pictures of gateway 5 on VW cluster) and that has bluetooth
  5. Of course, wouldnt forget the kids
  6. Well the cars booked in for the whole of next week at my local garage with a recon in mind. Hoping I finally get it sorted 150 labour plus 350 for recon unit all via warranty direct if all goes well. Only been 6 months waiting for this :wonder:
  7. Thanks for that, OK, so my next question would be what about the same unit that was in the car but reconditioned and then put back. Would it need programming again?
  8. Its not a 'mines gone, whats happened?' post, Im just wondering if any of the techies on here who have sold/fixed these units can tell me if the MK60 is just a quick swap job or does the unit have to be programmed in to the car?
  9. I was given a £300+ box, but forgot to pick it up , but cost in actual funds would be about £40. Usually its just the petrol cost to go to a free display
  10. Crash repair? Wounded in the line of duty perhaps
  11. -If it has ESP, check if the ABS unit has been done (there are plenty of threads regarding this) should be covered by any warranty you get with it. -Rear washer pipe not come loose -Seat airbag loom connector can cause high resistance (both sides I believe)
  12. Transit Tourneo? or Connects Tourneo?
  13. 32, 10 no claims, no convictions, no mods, etc. Renewal was nearly 300 more than last years price, up to nearly 800, plus a 3 page list of amendments to my policy (all in their favour). And after adding legal cover, breakdown, etc. they were the cheapest! Anyone else's policy get a nice big amendment list this year?
  14. The phono connection is just the most standard form of use, hence phono connectors. Based on the assumption that your changer connection is analogue, not digital... You could do the following, but it may be risky so please double check anything first before proceeding. Essentially an analogue changer connection is a few wires containing control/data/timing signal information, etc. Plus the un-amplified left and right audio (line audio) http://www.octavia-vrs.com/cms/content/mfd2-install-guide check the pin diagrams at the bottom for a general indication of pins. or specifically for symphony http://www.tehnomagazin.com/Auto-radio-car-connector/SKODA-Car-Radio-Wiring-Connector.htm What I would try is cut the cd audio left, cd audio right and the cd audio ground wires (AF-L, AF-R and COM on symphony HU) on the cable that goes into the HU. wire 2x sets of phono connectors or 2x 3.5mm plugs to it and stick the ground loop isolator in between. This would essentially act as placing the ground loop isolator between the devices. I would say that should work. if it doesnt just connect the phono connector together to go back as it was. If its a digital connection I would say your out of luck, but I seriously doubt youve got digital. The only possible problem I can see possibly the connects2 not functioning 100% because your running the common ground through it for all the data not just the audio. Bear in mind I am no pro on this stuff, more of a 'lets give it a go' electronics type thats tried a lot of projects that would be considered 'bodgit' or pikey and no serious or costly problems yet, but please try at your own risk. Like I said thats what I would try, and Im happy to try things without too much bother, but I can't guarantee 100% perfection or that it would work at all. Hope this all helps in some way (even if its just to avoid it ) Disconnect battery, etc, etc. EDIT: Added Symphony diagram
  15. The MOBO's were on in Liverpool last night. Could have been a big 'star' or 'celebrity' on the way back to London (P.Diddy has one I think), plus I think X-Factor has had auditions in the north west recently so could have been Mr Cowell (who also has a Maybach I believe). If it was P.Diddys, might explain the lack of number plate if it came with him. Could have been an MP on the way to discuss spending cuts with Mr Osbourne, hence only 1 Range Rover at the front. Who Knows :p
  16. I take it its via an ipod connector not standard 3.5mm jack? And that the ipod gets power from the same connector. A quick-fix solution would be to fit a ground loop isolator in the audio line somewhere between the ipod and the back of the stereo. If you had a simple 3.5mm jack or standard phono jacks setup its just a case of adding another cable between the two with the isolator in the middle of it (between £5-£10) but if its a ipod connector This could mean hacking at some cables or just a quick clip on job depending on your setup. Or the long winded approach would be to find the ground loop problem (no easy task). I would reccomend the ground loop method as its the easiest to do, but that depends on how comfortable you are with possibly having to splice into your cables.
  17. Prob caused by a ground loop. Try running the ground to a part of the car chassis (bare metal) before going the battery way . Might be a bit easier.
  18. Try holding the glovebox door firmly closed, see if it makes a difference.
  19. Ah right sorry, thought it was a list of 'or', not 'and'
  20. Why not do as many of those as you can fit in a day? After all, none of them are a whole day deal.
  21. You need to eliminate as much as possible form the possible causes. Couple of things to try; Get your ISP to do a line test. Try replacing the cable between the router and the filter, unlikely but possible. Remove everything from the router apart from the pc, including wireless connections. Then test your connection and see if anything still happens. On one hand it sounds like it could be a router (restarting it causes it to come back on), but on the other hand it sounds like it could be the line (loss of internet but not network). It could be that one is affecting the other to cause the faults you are describing. It could be work being done on the line, but your ISP should be able to tell you if this is the case. You need to try a different router to eliminate it from the possible causes. Hope this helps
  22. As mannyo put a changer emulator is probably a better investment for head unit control without sound quality loss. The Denision Gateway 300 is another CD Changer emulator that allows Ipod, USB and AUX in. You are also not limited to the amount of tracks or playlists you can have. The control system to allow this can be a bit confusing at first, but you soon settle into it.
