  1. I just thought there were no mobile cameras about at night because of the darkness affecting the pictures... :| Presumably they couldnt use flashes on oncoming traffic. What an oblivious, simple world I must live in mentally
  2. I tried one of those GPS tracker based quotes, just to see what kind of difference it makes being so restricted (and monitored, der-der-dum!). It actually added more than £800 to my renewal, presumably with the added cost of the equipment, does that make the equipment yours after the insurance has run out? Can it be used as a plain tracker? hmmm :wonder: I think these people just make figures up in their heads.
  3. When I sold my Laguna to them, they only offered me an extremely low price for it. But as the car had a fault with the wheel bearings that would cost a lot of money to do (ie a lot more than the car was worth) I went with it, the rep went outside to look at the car (I had put as average condition) walked round it once, looked inside, and then came back in and the deal was done. He didnt haggle because he thought he was getting a good deal. Job done, with a smile on my face. If he had driven it he would have changed his mind mwahahaha. But in all seriousness I didnt find much to fault them apart from the value offered for the car. I found it the best way to get rid quick.
  4. I would say your not going to get the balance of having enough power to lift the hatch but not too much that it requires a lot of force to close it. All of course without bending or damaging the struts or mounts that werent designed for the extra load or to be constantly under higher tension when closed, would be nice if it did work. Maybe something electric? Costly though.
  5. White does seem to look better on rally style alloys IMO You could always go for RS+ Green Bet not many would go that way
  6. Silver or yellow car? no. White, blue or black car? Maybe. On a red car? Yes Not sure how Zeniths would look white, I think Neptunes would look better in white. Quick photoshop jobbie hmm
  7. Mine went up from 470ish up to 800ish, plus 3 pages of new rules to protect them some more. Gutted. Insurers I spoke to just blame it on being the rise in the claim culture we seem to be in at the moment, I thought that was what NCD's were for? I would also say it could possibly be that VRS's are becoming more popular with the 'louts'. So become more of a risk to the insurers. In effect you are paying being extorted for a service that you legally have to have, for them to squirm when you actually need it. I dont condone driving with no insurance in any way, or even those that don't declare mods, upgrades, etc. as that also boosts everyone elses up, but can see why some people do.
  8. Just had a mixed kebab with chilii and barbeque sauce, havent had one for months.
  9. Think I would prefer a Top Gear presenters job Or perhaps not as varied but better long term, that old guy that tests Ferraris to destruction. Thrash a Ferrari around a track till it blows, walk away without worries of a repair bill and gain a pay packet. All without the hassles of being famous. Sorted old but still makes me smile with envy.
  10. I do like those DRL's pagey They look the dogs cogs with the black surround
  11. Neighbourhood watch have some powers these days
  12. In proper pea soup I dont think front fogs do any good at all. I had a call out from Leicester to Liverpool at 2am around Christmas time a few years ago. The fog was the worst I have ever seen, think of the film 'The Mist' and you get the idea. It was also incredibly cold, the water had frozen in the washer bottle and nearly every service station had no water because their pipes had frozen. We darent risk turning the engine off at any point in case it wouldnt start again. Even with heaters on full blast and demisters on we had to stop every few miles to chip the ice off the windows. Anyway, we couldnt use the front fogs, we even tried high beams but the fog just reflected it back and blinded you. We just had to do the whole journey at under 30 on the motorway with the hazards on. It made for some rather scary driving. Thankfully it was quiet. People having fog lights on when not necessary doesnt bother me as much as people who fly along the motorway doing 90 in thick fog. Having fogs on is annoying but doubtful it would kill someone like that would :S
  13. Jaguar XF 3.0 V6 £29k? Diesel for £34k, (possibly knock it down to 30?). VW Passat CC V6 GT 3.6 FSI 4MOTION DSG. £31k Volvo V70 T5 R. £30k Just a couple of choices
  14. Be nice if you could Although you'd have to wear a gum shield everytime you went out to stop your teeth rattling On second thoughts, 19" Zeniths instead :p
  15. Does it feel tight or more like its hitting an obstacle? If it has a cage does it have any buckling or tabs sticking out that might be catching?
  16. Can't say Ive had this at all (at least, not to my face ) since owning the Octy. nor witnessed any badge bashing since the mk1 Fabia/Octy were released. Nearly everyone I talk to about the car says they are cracking motors now as they are owned by VW. The guy at the garage it was in for repairs the other day said he was really impressed with it and honestly surprised with the quality, performance and value the car was. Some people will have snobbery over anything if they think it makes them better than others or to keep up with the Jones's. Ive never been one for labels or fashions so it doesn't bother me in the slightest to be honest, and like Lady E said, the more people consider them desirable, the more we will all have to pay in the end. Skoda may well end up being a victim of its own success.
  17. No, that is what I was taught, if in doubt, 30, along with previous post about 'unless it states otherwise on every other lamp post or so'; streelighting and/or urban areas = 30, single carriageway (no lights or housing) = 60, dual carriageway (not urban) = 70 and Motorway = 70. Although I usually see the NSL signs at the begining of each (apart from the 30 of course as they dont seem to use the NSL signs for that). Cant say I have had a problem yet, apart from ones that drop down from 60 to 30 going through a village and then have a camera right on the change, rather than giving you time to slow down gently you have to brake aggressively. Only ever been pulled once, thankfully not for speeding. No cameras flashed yet either fingers crossed
  18. A little display between the rev counter and the speedo, seems to be one of the most wanted retro fits, it has a lot of control functions, displays, trip computer type things, etc. Very handy.
  19. Horse for courses, I'm afraid. There are lots of films dubbed 'classics' that I just don't get.
