  1. No that is no longer required. I had to do it with my first Octavia in 2021, but last year I didn't have to do it with its replacement.
  2. I just noticed that you were asking about the rear wiper, that has a fuse located in the fuse box behind the glovebox.
  3. Mine froze up in the very cold weather when I didn't have a strong enough screenwash mix. I found that there are no fuses for it, the Body Control Module just disables it. After adding screen wash and allowing it to defrost, it started working again for me.
  4. Does your car have internet connectivity, i.e. does it show a red cross where it should show the globe on the infotainment screen? If you don't, you can pull a couple of fuses (as per another thread), but I found it easier and quicker to just pull the battery lead for a min or so. This should force it to re-connect to the servers as that may be causing your car to not report in and configure.
  5. Mine was out for a couple of days but I pulled the battery cable and reset it all. Now back on and active.
  6. Never something that I have experienced with routine servicing. Oil service intervals are not that far apart that the oil has degraded to the point of ceasing to lubricate effectively and the air filter is not clogged where it restricts any flow. I am sure that going massively over these intervals would have that effect, but as you say, that isn't what you do.
  7. Ah, mine looked like the images in the first post. Not sure how to fix your one though.
  8. Yes, there is a menu option within Android Auto settings to enable disable application shortcuts, this removes the ones from the bottom of the screen and reinstates the ones down the side.
  9. My reading of it is that it will shut down from 1 Jan 2026 (Telecoms companies) , but they (Skoda) will stop selling the remote access service etc on 31 Dec 2024. If you have a current licence it will function till it expires. Mine is due to expire in July 2025, what I don't know is if I renew it now does it extend to July 2026 (after the 3G network has shut down) or is my reduced price from £36 to £27 because it will stop working at the end of Dec 2025. The renewal message says that my car doesn't support LTE and 5G networks, but some people have indicated that they do support LTE. Confusing!!
  10. You should have created an S-PIN when you set yourself up as the primary user, if you don't recall it, you can reset it from within the MySkoda app
  11. Thanks, I had previously seen that menu option to enable disable application shortcuts, but took it to mean all shortcuts including the side ones, With it switched off I now have the maps full screen again (without the music controls) and all 4 Google Maps buttons displayed. It would have been nice to keep some way of seeing and controlling Spotify from the full screen maps, but it's not the end of the world as we have steering wheel buttons which I use most of the time and can change to split screen if I did want that. Much appreciated.
  12. Do you mean down the side on Google maps or in Android Auto? I probably wasn't clear enough about that, mine has the maps buttons in a vertical column and the Android Auto buttons in a horizontal row, just like the pictures at the start of the thread. I am going to play around with AA developer settings to see if I can get it to display all 4 like it did before
  13. I updated with no issues to 1985, one observation that I've noticed in Android Auto is that since it now has the buttons along the bottom rather than down the side, Google Maps no longer displays the newly introduce button for alerting of road works, cameras etc. It only has the space for map settings, audio mute and the compass. I'm assuming this is the case for everyone else, has anyone come across a way to bring it back?
  14. Is the Sportline is viable option for you, as this has Matrix headlights as an option according to the brochure?
  15. I guess you missed what Warrior193 posted back to you 15mins after your question. It is pretty much what you have posted back. I.e. 1. Buy a battery 2. You don't have to maintain power during the swap 3. Code it with VCDS or equivalent.
  16. It might be worth getting in touch with a SMART repairer to get a price, that looks like it should be repair/repaintable rather than fitting a new one. Unless, of course, that part is removable and replaceable for less, I don't know that bit though.
  17. Wow!! So a cable was disconnected from factory but they charged you to re-connect it and not automatically put it through on the warranty or have I missed something about why your insurance is being claimed against? Did the infotainment issue and brake issue present itself as soon as you got the car back (i.e. have they completely failed to check their work)? I would be contacting/returning to the dealer ASAP as car that slams on the brakes at will is surely a serious safety issue. Never mind the rest of the faults they have introduced.
  18. Have you been able to confirm that your car battery is sufficiently charged, I haven't had a low battery in mine, but it's conceivable that it won't try at all rather than crank slowly?
  19. Manual? It might be the clutch pedal switch, does it still show the message about depress clutch to start?
  20. @Oslo11 If you don't make a habit of it, then I can't see this one off incident making a difference to the function or the life of the clutch.
  21. Did the dealer say that you have to pay the diagnostic fee and if the fault is not covered by the warranty then you would have to pay it, or is there a flat charge regardless? I know that even on new cars the warranty works like this.
  22. That is a good result and a good job you persevered.
  23. That oil meets the recommended grade and standard (508 00/509 00) so should be fine.
  24. I haven't seen this issue before, I'm on my second Octavia and both of them worked without a problem for me. Have you tried a re-boot on the system, i.e. a long hold on the power button until it re-sets?
