Have you cracked open the bleed nipple and attached a tube to catch the emitted brake fluid once you start retracting the piston ?

Not done mine yet but does the auto hold handbrake affect wind back of the pistons. Just a thought if a different method is required?

Does this happen due to the incorrect oil usage @MicMacas one possibility ?

I always thought they were thermisto on my S2. They really look identical to me now. Well I hope this will open up the search for the OP if anyone looking for wheels for their car, either of the 2 types. Sorry for hijacking your thread.

It was a matter of time before the DMF was needed. Done well to last this long. It is advised to do both clutch and flywheel at the same time. I don’t know how much it costs these days, maybe shop around, make sure it’s a decent brand Sachs, LUK type thing. Have the slave replaced at the same time. It’s outside the gearbox but I had issues with mine. Better the devil you know these cars go on for years. Mine is nearly on 260k! It’s the best car I ever owned also. If you think of selling let me know, lol

Reminds me of the similar thing in front of the drivers bulkhead DPF pressure sensor because I had one replaced on a TDI.

It’s all about the upsell in dealers now. All staff must have competitive targets against each other be it in the workshop or the service counter. I have seen a board in the workshop of a Seat dealer a few years back. League table of sorts.

As per the title is it worth searching for a used S3 with DCC. I have read it makes for a good drive. Can you alter characteristics sport and comfort mode ? Is it better to fit Koni Special active Shocks on standard springs instead, depending on cost? Have read the DCC cost of replacement is high. Would never have expected to have problems on say a 5-7 year old car with low to average miles. Believe DCC is standard on L&K spec so may have no choice as you get it anyway. Any thoughts/experience from members welcomed

I replaced the EGR at a VAG specialist and I also had to replace the turbo. I drove on it after it went into limp mode quite a few miles. Cost about to £1700 to change both. I believe the EGR alone is about £700

Some owners say it affected the drivability and maybe consumption of the car post fix. Some also say the car is performing DPF regens more often. That said I have a 2011 170CR superb and the EGR went without the fix being applied.

The DPF has a life depends how it’s been driven. Also the EGR valve can go with out without the emissions fix. Regular oil and filter changes annually or 10k ideal.

That’s a lovely motor. Yeah the L&K spec is very tempting. Plus you added some of the Sportline bits nicely. Just for me it’s a dark interior all the way. Black or even that brown one would sway me. If one came up the same as yours I would be tempted. Age would bring the price down also.

I had set my heart on a sunroof, but hearing the horror stories I don’t want the hassle even if I don’t keep the car long. SWMBO has specifically asked for one on her next used car. So I may just take the punt on one of the family cars. advice appreciated. Feels like it’s going to be a very long search as these cars don’t come up in the price range much. I am swayed to a main dealer with proper warranty for 1-2 years for peace of mind also.

Looks like a repair has been performed to a wire before. But based on symptoms I also experienced it’s likely the wires IMHO. You can repair the loom. Replace with a new official loom. Or get one of the repair lots off eBay. It replaces the pillar connector. Runs into the door itself and allows connection of every cable with plenty of slack as working in the door pillar inside that cover is tight. Have a good search on here, plenty write ups.

You are putting me off the sunroof. I love the idea of one. Not had one since I had my Fabia which was retro fitted as a pop up glass one when I got it. I really don’t want leaks or problems especially when the stealers won’t be interested even if in warranty.

So the 272 is more frugal than the 280? Are we talking pops and farts of a Golf R or noise without the fake noise Soundaktor thing, on the 280?

I had my old faithful out recently to use the only working copy of VCDS I have. XP os. The battery is stuffed like most of my old kit., so needs constant power. Just for nostalgic purposes a picture. If anyone wants any of this old kit. I have a few n600/610c models if parts required.
