  1. First thing id do i look through the grille and see if there are any speakers there. You can see them through the grille. If not, id be very suprised if the car had a different loom to those with speakers but couldnt say for sure. Id spend the 5 minutes it takes to remove the door trim to find out
  2. knowing what the cables look like I dont see anything which will connect to any of them. There is no quad connector which is the main connector to the headunit and nothing which looks like a steringwheel control adaptor. You will probably have to fork out more cash on a adaptor aswell. Why people dont buy pioneers android units instead of these things i dont know.

  4. If you have a mk2 fl I personaly would bother with a mk2 or a mk3. A mk3.5 would be more of a upgrade. The mk3 is a nicer car but from what ive seen its like Windows, you always want to jump a version lol
  5. My current windscreen sunshade needs replacing but apart from the cheap and nasty ones which wont fit and wont last are there any about which are for the mk2 octavia? All i find are the blinds for the rear windows, nothing for the windscreen and blocking the sun whilst parked up.
  6. This is why you buy decent brands over ebay specials
  7. I took it to Skoda in the end. They charged me a set price for headlight adjustment (£25 I think but it was a white ago). It took longer for them to do the free health check which included a made up issue for them to try and get their money back lol
  8. If you are happy, why not continue using the cheap ones. Id recomemnd replacing them in pairs though. Especially being that cheap. As you get even wear in the light and the output will be the same from both headlights. If you want to try some good bulbs, try the philips xtreme vision h7's. They will give out a slightly whiter light than you are used to giving you better visibility. The bulbs should last a respectable amount of time too. I highly recomend the xtreme vision range from philips. Back when I had halogens in my last car I tried loads, Philips, Osram, Ring and PIAA. PIAA are just a rip off, osram dont seem to last. Ring are good aswell as philips but the philips xtreme vision came out top imo. Stay clear of ones saying they are white like xenon. They achieve this by coating the bulb with blue paint. This gives a white light and achieves this by cutting out part of the light spectrum thus giving less output.
  9. If you get a single din headunit you will need a instilation kit which includes a cradle that the headunit sits in. This will have screw holes in the correct location
  10. it probably will fit but you will need to find the right facia which will fit properly and you will need to get the correct loom aswell. I personaly would always steer clear of this fad of cheap double din units simply because they offer a huge amount for a very low price telling me they are poorly and cheaply made. I would never spend my heard earned on one
  11. I know it says it is but it's a lie like I said. The RNS510 is NOT a android unit
  12. I wouldnt no. That is not, as it states, a RNS510. So the advert lies from the off. Not a great start eh? The unit mentioned above is found in this thread Reading the thread. There are a lot of people reporting issues which you get most of these cheap, poorly built copies. I personaly would never buy one and if I wanted android would always go for a trusted brand like pioneer and alpine who both make "oem" replacement headunits aswell as andriod etc
  13. I personaly would stay clear of the cheap ebay specials. There is a reason they are cheap and packed with features. People like Pioneer and Alpine make android headunits to take a look into those. You will need the correct instalation kit for the type of unit you choose. You will need mouting brackets, cabling, facia. I wont lie, changing a headunit in a modern car is NOT a cheap process. To fit a single din pioneer into my mk2 pfl it cost around £80 in cabling, facia, adaptor units etc
  14. You remove the plastic nut then pull the leaver to release the headlight. Pull the light forward and the cable connector has a tab you push down to release it. If the light hasnt been out for a while it can be very stiff
  15. Scot5. There is no switched live to the headunit. The car is canbus, therefore uses data from the ECU to allow it to turn on, not 12v. The better high level converts use sense to see voltage through the speaker cable then sends 12v down the switched cable to the amp. Otherwise you need to find a switched live in the fuse box or make your own
  16. Yea I know. They need to be set to a new home position and I don't think they did that. Going to take the car to a local vag specialist instead I think
  17. group 31, 096....its only physical sizing of the battery. Leisure battery.....don't even contemplate. What is your budget? That's the main factor
  18. Had them alligned last week. They alligned them so they were correct in the light box and now they point way too low. Almost like the home point has been changed
  19. id suggest the best people to ask would be eibach them selves. Especially as there are identification numbers on the springs
  20. halogen and hid projectors are different. Your headlights are designed to have halogen bulbs fitted. Not hid, led etc
  21. Bit of an odd one. Drivers headlight and mounting was removed for access. Since being re fitted (correctly, I've checked) the drivers headlight is facing too high. These are OEM xenons and they still do the sweep. Could the home point have changed when it was all taken out?
  22. I did think that but only 1 button didn't work
  23. Just had a call from the wife. The unlock button doesn't work on the key fob. The other two do however. She took the key apart and back together and it works. My thoughts are dry solder joint somewhere. Anyideas on anything else it could be ?
  24. If you plan to get an amp I wouldnt bother until you have an amp. Right now you'd have to hack into the loom and will most likely be dissapointed. Once you have an amp you can run seperate speaker cables from the doors to the amp without touching the loom and the speakers will get the power they need
  25. You need more detail there mate. Budget? Will you be amping the speakers? Will you be fitting any sound deadening? Will you be making any adaptors or using nasty plastic ones? Do you have an aftermarket headunit or oem?
