  1. Especially when fitted with a non-resonated Milltek exhaust and with an MRC remap
  2. I never read Briskoda on my phone
  3. When I worked at an automotive consultancy we developed some engine tunes for Brazilian E80 fuel, so one of the pumps we had on-site was for E80 fuel.
  4. Added details to original post (2015 Octavia Elegance 1.4TSI estate) - also shown in the left hand pane on all my posts
  5. Just to add that not all direct systems report pressures on each tyre or report which tyre has low pressure. My previous car (an Audi B7 RS4) had direct TPMS with pressure and temperature sensors in 4 wheels, but like all B7 Audis there was no means of seeing the pressure or temperature of each wheel on either the entertainment system or the instruments - you had to use a diagnostic tool like VCDS. How come? Because Audi didn't add the firmware into either the entertainment system or the instruments to display the TPMS data, so all you got was a tyre pressure warning symbol on the instruments.
  6. I've use E10 fuel once in our 2015 Octavia Elegance 1.4TSI estate when we were on holiday in France, about 50 miles after filling up the MIL came on. On checking with my VCDS cable (never go on holiday without it) the lambda sensor had reported an error - cleared it and it didn't come back? Didn't fill up with E10 again after that - glad that by the time E10 is in the UK the Octavia will be SWMBOs problem not mine.
  7. If the battery is the same type (EFB or AGM) then all you should change is the serial number (just change one digit, the actual number is unimportant).
  8. When I worked for a car manufacturer it was well known within the engineering teams that the demonstrator of their new model definitely did NOT have a factory engine map, but all the reviews by journalists never asked the question or commented on how the demonstrator was so much quicker than their long term test cars?
  9. I've never found any dealer sales person with decent product knowledge in the 40+ years I've been buying cars. Skoda UK contact? see Skoda UK - Contact Us
  10. If you're going abroad with bikes on the back be aware that in some countries you can be stopped and fined if the bike wheels protrude outside the car bodywork.
  11. Seems that replying on an Autocar article (any magazine article?) might not be the best way forward - @nickcollwhy not ask either a Skoda dealer or Skoda UK the direct question about LSD or electronic alternatives that may or may not be fitted to Octavia IV models?
  12. Doesn't getting retrofitted ACC require a FEC code for it to work and for the coding changes not to produce fault codes? I can remember several threads (here and elsewhere) where owners have tried to downgrade from ACC to CC and found it needed a FEC as both types of cruise control have separate FEC codes - and neither work without the appropriate FEC code.
  13. Or did the Autocar article refer only to there not being a physical limited slip differential without checking whether there was an electronic pseudo limited-slip differential? Most magazine reviews cannot be relied upon to be completely accurate about the spec of the vehicle they are reviewing.
  14. I use quick format - it's quicker than delete.
  15. It either is or isn't TJA - and since it can't bring the car to a halt and restart it when the queue moves then it's NOT TJA. That doesn't mean it isn't useful, but to call it TJA is misleading.
  16. Very few of us speak Romanian, better to always post in English (use Google translate if necessary):
  17. Shared with the 12V socket in the boot (if you have one).
  18. On the 1.4TSI & 1.5TSI the water pump is on the opposite end of the engine and I can only recall seeing 1 owner on here comment about having water pump problems. Contrast this with the 2.0TSI where the water pump is on the same end of the engine of the cam belt and there have been numerous posts on here about water pump problems. Taking all this into account I don't see why OP should be concerned about whether the water pump has been changed on a 1.4TSI or 1.5TSI?
  19. If Skoda still haven't fitted a plastic engine cover (cost saving measure compared to VW & Audi) then if on the top of the engine there are 4 large blue(?) solenoids then the engine has ACT.
  20. Just do it the proper way from now on, it will take more than one charging for the BMS to correct its view of the battery SoC but it will get there. BTW since lockdown 1 last year I've been using a 15W solar charger from Amazon plugged into the 12V socket in the centre console - start/stop works within a couple of miles of leaving home (when allowed out!) and the battery voltage never drops below 12.6V
  21. There will always be hackers that can remove component protection, so as always it's a case of the car manufacturers playing catchup.
  22. The key point is that any journey has to be for an allowed reason - exercise (once a day and staying local), shopping, caring for someone or going to work (if you can't work from home), so going out for a drive 'for the sake of it' is NOT allowed. That means that matmacka's statement that " I carry on using my car as no rules against it in your local area" isn't correct, as every time you go out in your car it has to be for an allowed reason. I may be more keen than most on helping people to comply with the regulations after having spent time in Intensive Care with Covid-19 in January - during which time the doctors told me that there were 3 days when my condition wasn't improving and it was 'touch and go' whether I would be leaving the hospital feet first in a wooden box
  23. I had an Audi A4 Sport with the 130PS 1.9PD and the 6 speed gearbox - I had it mapped to 180PS and never had any problem with the gearbox.
