  1. Where did you get the new thermostat from? Is it a genuine part or a pattern part?
  2. Only Skoda UK recommend such an early change of the cambelt, no other Skoda importer nor the Skoda factory (nor VAG as the engines are used in most VAG marques) recommend a change so early - some VAG documentation even suggests that they are "lifetime"? It's been asked on here many times what makes the UK such a bad environment for cambelts? The conclusion, so far, has been it's Skoda UK doing some covering of their rear end
  3. The 2.0L petrol has a timing chain but the 1.0, 1.4 & 1.5 petrols have a timing belt.
  4. If it's got navigation then it can't be a Bolero! Can't help on the camera, not done the retrofit myself.
  5. That looks like a MIB2 Amundsen to me. To update the maps (which MUST be saved on a genuine Skoda SD card - if you use the one you have then save the contents on your PC first as a backup) then visit the Skoda Portal here then enter your VIN and it will show you the latest available maps to download. Once downloaded follow the instructions to uncompress them then copy all the uncompressed files onto the SD card AFTER clearing it first (I use fast format as that's quicker than deleting all the files).
  6. Drive mode needs an FEC (Feature Enable Code) - if you told the supplier of your hacked unit that you have Drive Mode they SHOULD have activated it. Sounds like whoever hacked your new unit didn't do a thorough job.
  7. Those values are so close to the original that the change isn't worth being concerned about - so as langers2k has said just add 1 to the serial number and you're done.
  8. With a unit hacked to remove CP this error will always be present.
  9. No you don't need to disconnect the battery - it's better if you don't as changing the battery state of charge will disrupt the cars battery management system view of the battery state and possibly upset start/stop and load shedding. Just connect the charger to the battery positive terminal and the tag on the chassis where the battery connects to (NOT the battery negative terminal).
  10. No worries, glad it's working again
  11. See my reply to your other thread on this subject - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/489909-key-fob/?tab=comments#comment-5501528
  12. Then either you have a duff battery or the battery hasn't been properly inserted. Where did you get the battery from? The key fobs are incredibly sensitive to whether the battery is fresh and from a well known manufacturer - Duracell et all. I would get a fresh battery made by a good manufacturer with a good long expiry date and try again - no I'm not kidding!
  13. MIB1 Amundsen maps on both the Skoda portal and the VW infotainment website haven't been updated since the version in June last year (even though the VW website claims it was updated in November 2020 this isn't true - it's the same maps, I've done a byte by byte comparison of all 6GB). Strangely the Skoda Portal claims those maps are 2020/22 - which is either a typo or a hint that there won't be any MIB1 Amundsen map updates until December 2021 or later?
  14. Does the red LED illuminate when you press any of the buttons on the key fob?
  15. That''s not true, ANY Skoda dealer can access the service record of ANY Skoda car whether it's in their workshop or not.
  16. Sounds like water could have got into a connector in the sensor wiring?
  17. That could be any of them as infotainment systems weren't spec'd by engine size/type. Best to post a photo of the screen.
  18. I used the same router when we moved from Hampshire to Devon (stayed with same ISP) - connection was FTTC in both cases.
  19. I'm using a 256GB SD card for music (with over 190GB of music on it) with my MIB1 Amundsen
  20. Whenever I rip multi CD albums I always use an MP3 editor to renumber the tracks from CD2 onwards so they follow on from each other, then I make sure all the CDs have the same album name WITHOUT a CD number. So if CD1 has 16 tracks then track 1 of CD2 I renumber to track 17, etc. Works even for 5 CD albums, yes it takes a few minutes but it only has to be one once.
  21. A kaput battery will appear to take charge but won't hold it, as a rough test measure the battery voltage just after getting home and again a few hours later - if the first is over 12 but under 15 and the second is under 12 then the battery likely isn't holding charge. The only way to be sure is with a battery tester which checks the ability of the battery to supply starting current - any workshop or car electrical place will have one.
  22. Remember a 4x4 gives you better traction to get moving, but when it comes to braking there's no difference between 4x2 and 4x4 versions it's all down to the tyres - that's when All Seasons will really make a difference.
  23. You're wrong there, battery Ah is one of the parameters that can be set/changed in the BMS.
  24. Those are not MIB1 Amundsen maps. MIB1 Amundsen maps have one file (DBinfo.txt) and one folder (markets). Visit the VW map update site here select Golf until 2015 and Discover Media to get to a link to the correct maps for a MIB1 Amundsen.
