Fault code vcds octavia 3 vrs tdi
In as many cases as possible the VCDS guys use the message from the VAG module (translating if necessary) so I think the finger for this piece of gibberish most likely should be pointed at the VAG software guys.

If they 'get funny about it' then can you really trust them, and would you want to spend your hard earned cash with a seller that gets upset when you ask a reasonable question about how the car has been maintained?

Remove MIB1 folder from Columbus navigation
See how the icon is different? The USB pens are treated as a removable hard drive but the SD card isn't - maybe this is the problem?

Electrics crackling/shorting after interior LEDs installed?
I've replaced my door warning lights with LED ones, no coding no errors - if you look in the Leuchte channels there is no channel for the interior lights apart from the ambient lighting on FL Octavias.

ALL versions of Ross-Tech cables are licensed for the English version of VCDS, but to use a non-English version of VCDS you must buy the cable from the distributor in the relevant country. So if you buy the cable from the French distributor you can install and use both French and English VCDS, but if you buy the cable from e.g. the UK distributor or Ross-Tech direct then it's only licensed for the English VCDS.

Got a picture of the front you can share (blank out the number plate if you wish)? That will say for sure whether it's a III or IV

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
Don't think J.R. will go for that option...

KPH/MPH
Isn't that an Octavia III part number, not an Octavia IV? I thought the Octavia IV was an NX3 (saloon/sedan) or NX5 (estate/combi)?

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
If your TV has either a 3.5mm audio jack input or a pair of RCA connectors as an audio input then it may be possible to as well as the VGA lead for video use a 3.5mm lead plugged into the headphone output on the PC into those inputs on the TV. A read of the TV manual is a must to determine which audio inputs are live when switched to the VGA video input.

MY21 Amundsen Map update procedure
I agree, I couldn't persuade my then local dealer who I bought the car from to do an infotainment update and ended up doing it with help from this website - at least you could do that on an Amundsen MIB1!

Moll car battery at 11.79V - normal?
All the VAG cars I've owned since 1999 (8L S3, 8E S4, 8E A4, 8E S4, 8E RS4, 5E Octavia) have had permanent 12V sockets - which I find really useful when taking a coolbox on holiday. One of the first mods (if not the first) I'm going to do on my Toyota Aygo when the weather allows is to change the 12V socket from switched to permanent (and fit a much bigger battery!).

New or improved hubs announced, Government EV Loans in Scotland and free & no longer free public charging places..
Many probably still will in the mistaken belief that it will speed up their charging.

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
Some TVs (not sure about yours) have a VGA connector on them for a direct connection from a PC?

Moll car battery at 11.79V - normal?
Which in the UK isn't how they are wired on VAG cars - they're always live (but I understand that in some other countries they can be changed to ignition switched just by moving the fuse).
-
Moll car battery at 11.79V - normal?
Well it works really well for me - before I had the solar charger the battery voltage would be down to 11.6V after a month sitting doing nothing, but with it the battery voltage was 12.6V under the same conditions. So my experience is that the solar chargers DO work despite what the person at your Skoda dealer said.

Horn replacement
I fitted something very similar to this on my previous Citroen C1, just wired in parallel with the existing horn so a short press just sounded the OEM horn but a longer press allowed the compressor to spool up and make a MUCH louder noise! https://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-accessories/interior-car-accessories/ring-12-volt-compact-twin-air-horn-242268.html

Workshop error leave in position P gear selector or microswitch?
Read further down the thread (start at page 11) and you will see that a few months ago that changed - they now add a replacement 'Park' microswitch to fix the problem.
-
Workshop error leave in position P gear selector or microswitch?
In the Octavia III forum there's a thread on this very subject, the replacement microswitch is now an official fix so no need to go to your local garage as a Skoda dealer should do it. Anti-theft solutions
Planned and organised would be when they have a buyer, which is in the vast majority of cases for high value vehicles or newly launched vehicles in the media spotlight - neither of which categories would IMHO include a Skoda. Don't get me wrong, I love my Octavia but having come from an Audi RS4 (which received a lot of media coverage at launch and some people were even selling them at a profit for several months after launch) the difference in attention from media, public and scrotes is very noticeable.

1.0 TSI great to drive but rev hang??
I vaguely remember being told by one of the engine management experts I worked with at an automotive consultancy that the rev hang was an attempt to keep the cat at working temperature and was most likely to be needed on smaller engines (less gas flow) - which may explain why it's most noticeable on the 1.0 compared to the 1.2?

Octavia Fault codes
My first gut feel is that they should look at the oil feed/drain to the turbo bearings, if that's not allowing sufficient flow/pressure the bearings will fail prematurely.
