I think your priority should be to get the cause of the battery draining solved, then you wouldn't need to know where the 12V battery is as you wouldn't need to keep replacing another damaged battery!

When I had to "give" it to my ex (as part of the divorce settlement) it had done approx 45,000 miles with no unplanned maintenance (just annual servicing) and only 1 warranty job when the front inner left parking sensor failed. It never failed to get us from A-to-B without drama. It was a 6 speed manual estate and averaged around 45mpg mainly rural and motorway driving, which was far better than my previous Audi RS4 (4.2V8, 420PS, 6 speed manual). According to the online MOT check it's now done just under 72,000 miles and the only MOT failure has been when a new owner hasn't checked the tyre condition. I enjoyed driving it so much that's why at the first opportunity I traded my Toyota Aygo for another Octavia, I would have liked another estate but this 1.8 L&K hatchback tempted me too much!

I think you've just confirmed that your car has a parasitic drain problem, which Skoda need to solve under warranty.

Then I suspect the leak is related to the connection to the right side headlamp washer, you may be able to access it by removing the wheelarch liner (someone may be able to confirm or deny that suggestion).

Yellow "Check Oil Level" is a notification to top up the oil as soon as possible. Red "Low Oil Pressure" is a warning not to be ignored, stop as soon as safe and turn the engine off.

Added clarification for you! That to me suggests either the interior motion sensor or the tilt sensor is triggering the alarm.

I think you're getting confused with the larger engined Octavia's - the EA211 (1.0, 1.4 & 1.5 TSI) have no reputation for water pump problems and Skoda UK earlier this year aligned their guidance on cambelt replacement to be in line with the rest of the VAG 'empire' so the 5 year guideline is history as it was never sensible.

The washer reservoir is on the left hand side of the car, so it's not coming from the reservoir. Do you have headlamp washer jets (some Octavia's have those even with Halogen headlamps, my previous Elegance did)?

On a 1.4TSI the DSG will be a dry clutch 7 speed DQ200, problem reports on that combination are rare. I have the DQ200 with the 1.8TSI currently on over 65,000 miles with no problems (touch wood!).

You have purchased a clone of VCDS, which we do not wish to support. Please contact the seller and tell them they have sold you a clone and ask for a refund, then visit the Ross-Tech website and purchase a genuine copy.

I hope it's a TSI (petrol) as that driving pattern won't suit a TDI due to DPF issues. I would definitely change the service interval to annual, and even consider a 6 monthly oil change.

I agree more people are time poor & income rich than are time rich & income poor, so most people will still favour the quicker route (which sometimes in Summer due to Grockels can be the non-motorway or non-dual carriageway route! - I've seen the M3 queued all the way from Southampton back to Camberley).

Which CAN? The Gateway also acts as a CAN switch between multiple CAN buses - Powertrain, Comfort, Infotainment, Extended, ...

Did it come with software on a CD? If it did then as it's the English version of VCDS then 100% it's a clone.

Does the CAN Gateway need some kind of wakeup message on the Diagnostics CAN connections before it will start talking?

???? The rear camera connects to the glovebox unit and the dashcam doesn't connect to the infotainment system (except maybe for power).

What do you mean by infotainment system? The screen in the centre console is just that, a screen - no more. All the wiring is behind the main unit (it's much more than just a CD player) in the glovebox.
