  1. It's not normally that simple - the shifter assembly usually has a normally open and a normally closed contact for each position (for safety and redundancy). Some investigation with a wiring diagram is needed I reckon. And what about the now incorrectly labelled trim - how to you plan to solve that?
  2. Here's the newest one I can find at the moment 5L0 051 236 AH
  3. Not quite all passenger cars - my previous Toyota Aygo with x-shift had the manual mode the right way round (forward to shift down, backward to shift up). To me this makes so much more sense since the G forces when accelerating or braking now work in your favour! I too would like my DSG Octavia to work this way, but I suspect that due to the redundant switching in the shifter assembly it will require more than just moving wires - and there's also the problem that the trim piece will show the now wrong +/- direction.
  4. Sounds like you have a MIB2 Amundsen - yu can get the 5L0 prefix SD card you need off auction sites such as eBay.
  5. Doombar is one of my "go to" beers, agree about the lack of mushrooms and onions - they're essential with a steak iMHO. @John2022Have you tried Creamed Horseradish, it gives a much milder flavour?
  6. I'm already running 2110, just wondered if VW have published a newer version without the traditional half year delay?
  7. When was the last MIB2 Amundsen fitted in production? Are we now past the 5 year limit that VAG have for map updates, if we are then there will not be any more MIB2 Amundsen map updates?
  8. It's been a topic of much discussion on here over the years (at least since 2016 to my knowledge) how different the advice from Skoda UK was to the rest of the VAG world. It's great that Skoda UK have fallen into line with the rest of the VAG world, but it took them far too long and it has cost UK Skoda owners a LOT of money in unnecessary cambelt changes - if this was the USA someone would be starting a Class Action case against Skoda UK!
  9. The 1.5 is a different engine type to the 2.0 in the vRS, so the recall doesn't apply.
  10. Then he's going to condemn Israel and the Palestinians to a perpetual state of war - both groups have a history stretching back over more than 2000 years to live in the area at the Eastern end of the Mediterranean, and unless and until that is recognised by all concerned there will be conflict resulting in pain, injury and death.
  11. 4 identical glow plugs fitted, but the ECU expects glow plug 3 to have an additional pressure sensor - I think you've diagnosed the problem yourself?
  12. ... and many adults who have moved from one council area to another and can't get their heads round the totally different recycling rules (different colour bins, different things going into different bins, food caddy or no food caddy, glass separate or with other recycling, cardboard separate or with other recycling, paper separate or with other recycling, only clear plastic recyclable, only plastic containers below a certain size recyclable, etc.) Recycling rules need to be the same wherever you live or go on holiday, until they are it's very unlikely that recycling targets will be met.
  13. It's the pulsed nature of GSM that caused the noises. I started designing mobile phones just as the switch from analog TACS/AMPS to digital GSM (2G) was happening.
  14. AFAIK that only applies to the TDI, and definitely not to the EA211 engine (1.4TSI and 1.5TSI).
  15. There is a LOT more than just a relay within J519, so the measurement you made is based on an incorrect assumption.
  16. Methane is the major constituent in natural gas.
  17. Between which two points exactly? Remember the BCM isn't just a straight through connection - the input will go into a microchip and the output come from a microchip, so the BCM resistance will be very high.
  18. Please explain - if you have VCDS then you can do an Auto-Scan - even if it shows no fault codes the information will help.
  19. The use of a code was removed many years ago and replaced with component protection (which can only be removed by a dealer or an independent with online access to the VAG servers).
  20. Really? I suppose being Electronics Manager for an automotive consultancy hasn't equipped me with that information? I think you need to look in the mirror for someone who doesn't know how CAN bus systems work.
  21. Probably not, my L&K has an Amundsen (plus Canton) and AFAIK Columbus was still an option on L&K models.
  22. I'm not suggesting bypassing a fuse??? - just connecting the input of a fuse to a switched feed not an unswitched feed. BTW any lead that carries power is NOT CANbus, CANbus is data signals only.
  23. Need to know a lot more: - it appears you have a 2019 Octavia (is this correct?) - what model of infotainment unit was fitted? Swing, Amundsen, Columbus, ... - do you have Canton? - what vehicle did the unit you have fitted come from (make, model and year)? - what model of infotainment unit is it?
