  1. So on a hot day in a hot climate when climbing a long hill will the BMS reduce the discharge rate and hence reduce the available power to the motors - potentially making it not possible to maintain the same speed up the hill? Will there be any warning to the driver that he is about to lose (or has lost) some power?
  2. Clear as in colourless or clear as in not cloudy? Coolant should not be colourless (like water) but the correct coloured coolant as specified by Skoda.
  3. I never experienced it with my previous 1.4, and if my memory serves me correctly it's only been posted about on here with the 1.5ACT version of the EA211 engine.
  4. Which will mean less time in the warmup phase for ICE, and hence could lead to lower emission figures without any actual change to the engine mechanics or fuelling strategy - so will make ICE appear better during the test without any effect on the real world figures!
  5. The ACC system takes account of the steering angle so if on the motorway you are changing lane and the system thinks you could be heading for the bridge abutments it will warn and brake.
  6. Depending on where the 12V battery is, you have to fool the car into thinking all doors, boot and bonnet are closed then lock it and wait for the car to properly go to sleep - usually this means waiting 15 - 30 minutes. Using a DVOM you measure the voltage drop across fuses in turn (a wiring diagram helps) to see if any have a "large" voltage drop. The infotainment display usually gives a reason for stop/start not working, if this is something like "consumer drain" then this is worth doing, if not then it will probably be a waste of time.
  7. Was that after the battery had been charged by the alternator, or a separate charger? Have you investigated whether there is any significant current draw when the car is locked and fully asleep?
  8. Yes, my previous Octavia had the VBF and a handle, but my current Octavia doesn't have the VBF and just has a fabric strap.
  9. Zoom problems after update Translated to English as that is the language of this site. You need to post this in the appropriate forum, which is not Skoda Dealers! I suggest it's https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/7-audio-electronics-and-security/
  10. You can't have the radio off as it's a combined system, but what I do is turn the radio volume down to zero - the sat nav volume is separately adjustable.
  11. On the infotainment under the Car screens you will find a TPMS reset option.
  12. Given the scale of the "black economy" in scrap metal I don't think that would have a serious impact on this particular crime.
  13. Initial thought, all EVs get the higher level grant and all forms of purchase and lease have 0% interest with a deposit of no more than 10%, plus introduce a vehicle scrappage scheme for ICE cars (this allowed me to change from a 12 year old car to a new one back in 2021). Costs to be met by increasing the tax burden on all those paying higher rates of income tax. This would make the entry, and ongoing lease/purchase, costs affordable to many more people currently running cheap ICE cars and no/limited savings and limited disposable income. We need to do something to make EVs affordable to all if we really are serious about net zero.
  14. Many in this generation want to change away from ICE vehicles but are unable to do so without both some financial assistance (the latest Grant scheme is close to a farce) to lease/buy an EV suitable for their family, and a viable solution to allow those who have to park in the road to charge an EV. Remember there is no right to park outside your property (as an example, I am very rarely able to park outside my fiancee's house, often 200 yards down the road!).
  15. And now can't afford to run those 2kW convector heaters so they wear multiple layers of clothing and sit under blankets - BBC West showed several people having to do this last Winter, and I don't see any reason to believe it won't be the same for them this Winter.
  16. That means nearly 80% of us are not! Please do NOT make the incorrect assumption that pensioners are well off! Despite having worked exclusively in the allegedly important high tech industries I was made redundant 4 times during my working life and had to restart from a lower salary each time, so my private pensions do not match those of someone lucky enough (like my father) to work for one firm for 40+ years. So my pensions income does not meet the suggested level for a "comfortable" life style and I have to carefully consider every outgoing.
  17. It's not unknown for the software in some of the many modules not to wake up properly!
  18. Renewable generation is problematic during an autumn/winter anticyclone like we have over the UK at the moment. I've been watching National Grid: Live for the last couple of days and so far today gas has provided around 70% of UK electricity generated with renewables down less than 15%. We really need to move further and faster on both Grid battery storage and local micro nuclear if we are to stop burning gas without having grid failures.
  19. @lol-lol But does the saving in electricity bills pay for the purchase of the multiple small batteries? What's the payback period?
  20. There isn't one answer to that as the car has a Battery Management System that dynamically changes the battery voltage. Before starting if the voltage is below 12V then that's cause for concern, when the engine is first started expect something around 14V but this will drop to something over 12.5V after a few minutes except when you come off the throttle when it will rise again to around 14V as the "micro regenerative braking" comes into effect.
  21. I 100% agree, get the multimeter out and start doing some battery voltage measurements.
  22. My bad, too early in the morning!!! If start/stop only works for a few hours then that suggests the battery charge state isn't being maintained. How old is the battery?
  23. PDF files only. If you download everything to your local device then you only need to pay once.
  24. Removed due to early morning brain fade 🙃
  25. erWin has the factory repair information, so it's probably the most complete information you can get. Just buy the shortest subscription (1 hour in Europe), enter your VIN and download every file available as PDFs.
