  1. On both my previous 2015 1.4TSi and my current 2016 1.8TSI the battery was/is wrapped in a fabric box that included a lid, but you seem to be describing something much more rigid than that? Maybe something more rigid was a facelift change?
  2. One mechanical water pump plus one electric after-run coolant pump IIRC.
  3. I can only remember one post regarding water pump failure on the smaller TSI engines, so given the oldest cars are now 9 years old I don't think it's something to be regarded as a preventative maintenance job.
  4. The advice to replace the water pump at the same time as the timing belt is only valid on engines where they are on the same end of the engine - which means it does NOT apply to the 1.0, 1.4 & 1.5 TSI engines.
  5. I always had a chuckle at how the rear silencer on the early XR2s just sort of hung in mid-air, just waiting for some corrosion and a large bump/pothole to make it snap off onto the road.
  6. 1) Poorly fitting bung in the spare wheel well base. 2) poorly sealed rear light cluster. 3) Poorly sealed tailgate/hatch. Basicaly anywhere at the rear end that has an opening to the outside. One way to test is to sit inside the boot area while someone else sprays a pressure washer around the rear of the car.
  7. 1. Depends on what headunit it has. 2. No, Android Auto needs a MIB2 headunit which was only introduced from mid 2015 production date.
  8. I had the same experience when living in Southampton, the local Skoda specialist was verging on incompetent (even letting my ex's car out with the reversing lights permanently on and denying they had done so!), so I started taking her Fabia to the VW specialist I used in Totton and the standard of their work on her Fabia was as good as on my RS4 i.e. excellent.
  9. I just got a set off fleabay that came in the original OEM labelled bag.
  10. The standard VW/Audi/Skoda radio removal keys, you need a full set of 4, available from many places including Halfrauds.
  11. I have to admit I went for a Metro instead of a Fiesta, after 2 Austin Metro's and 2 MG Metro Turbo's I vowed never to buy another Austin/Morris, Austin Rover Group (ARG) vehicle as the last one 'eat' 3 batteries and 2 exhausts in just over a year (all replaced under warranty but just too much hassle).
  12. I fitted the engine cover off a Golf 1.4 to my EA211 1.4TSI Octavia (the 1.4 doesn't come with a cover on the Octavia), and fitted an Octavia bonnet badge which was still firmly in place 5 years later when my ex got the car.
  13. From the small screen and lack of NAV button I'd guess at a MIB1 Swing. *EDIT* wrong on both counts - a MIB2 Bolero 😭
  14. Before I fitted the underbonnet sound pad I could heard the turbo on my 15 plate 1.4TSI when in Sport engine mode.
  15. Probably better to ask in the Octavia 4 forum not the Octavia 3 forum?
  16. See post from varooom , you need to post the Software Train information to identify the correct firmware upgrade required.
  17. There are 3 versions of the BCM (low, mid and high) which can be identified by the part number. You'll need a diagnostic tool (e.g. VCDS or OBD11) to change the coding to add the heated seats and that can identify which BCM version you have.
  18. VCDS saves 2 very useful files in the C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Debug folder called CodingLog.csv and AdpLog.csv which record ALL the coding and adaptation changes you have made. Open these in either Notepad or Excel and you can see all the changes you have made, and reverse the ones you are concerned about. BTW there is a newer version of VCDS available which is free to all owners of legal VCDS cables, the current version is 22.9
  19. Anyone got recent experience of Turners for Skoda servicing? I'd rather go to them than battle into Bath, if they get a good recent review. Of course, if anyone knows a good Skoda/VW/Audi independent garage near Trowbridge/Westbury/Warminster that would be a better option for me with a 6 year old Octavia...
  20. IIRC the DSG 'tune' increases the DSG clutch clamping pressures so it can handle the higher torque?
  21. Seems the Octavia 3 is different, another cost saving maybe?
  22. Did you code the battery management system to tell it you have changed the battery? If not it will assume the old battery is fitted.
  23. Correct, I was involved in a case last year where the Registered Keeper was most definitely NOT the Legal Owner at the time, so requesting the V5C for proof of ownership is BS.
