  1. The Octavia has a very configurable lighting system which includes information on the type of bulb fitted in each place, currently that expects an incandescent bulb for the reversing lights but can easily be changed to expect an LED. Most 'CAN ready' (or similarly named) LED bulbs fall foul of either the cold monitoring (bulb off) or hot monitoring (bulb energised) , so rather than a search for an LED bulb that passes both these tests it would be much easier to modify the bulb type setting using a diagnostic tool such as VCDS or OBDeleven or similar.
  2. That's certainly how the rear seats folded on a 2005 Fabia that we used to own. Can't comment on the situation after 2015, but the comment "they never made them in the first place" is incorrect.
  3. Sounds like a thermostat stuck open could well be the problem, being a purely mechanical device there will be no diagnostics covering it and hence no fault codes.
  4. Since they both use the EA888 engine that's extremely unlikely 🙃
  5. Has the 1.8TSI Octavia 3 got a timing belt? I was under the impression that it's an EA888 engine which has a timing chain?
  6. The Octavia 3 from 2013 -2020 switched to the same solid axle on lower powered models and IRS only on more powerful ones, I think the tipping point was 150PS.
  7. My previous 1.4TSI Octavia hated E10, within 10 miles of filling with E10 the wideband lambda sensor would throw a fault code but not go into limp mode. Every time I cleared the code and it would stay cleared until the next time I filled up with E10. Not my problem now as it went to the ex...
  8. Similar here, I used to swap between summer and winter tyres when the clocks change.
  9. First thought is that losing the settings after turning the ignition off MAY be because of the loss of non-switched power to the BCM, possibly a blown fuse?
  10. Timing chain or belt? On the Octavia engines with a timing belt Skoda UK 'recommend' changing it after 5 years but no other importer recommends this and some VW study documents suggest its for lifetime. Other VAG engines I've owned with a timing chain owners have reported some stretch becoming significant after more than 100,000 miles (the 4.2L 20V B6 S4 was particularly affected).
  11. The only time I've experienced a dump valve whoosh is when I had an Audi 8L S3 chip tuned which increased the boost substantially, seems to me that your comment "running *very* well" suggests something has happened to the boost control?
  12. Of course, I didn't go to my local Skoda dealer as they would charge almost 50% more and couldn't do it for several weeks (I wanted CarPlay working ASAP so I could use Google maps) so I went to a company I found in Redditch (Google is your friend...).
  13. I had to have Smartlink activated on my 2016 model with a MIB2 when I bought it last month, seems the (only) previous owner never bothered.
  14. Might be worth asking those 'in the know' if there's a coding option in the electric steering controller (address 44?) to reduce the assistance.
  15. No only the front seats, the drivers seat is electric and has memory (which also memorises the mirror positions and means mirror dip on reverse works properly).
  16. My 1.4 TSI manual averaged 45mpg, I'm pleasantly surprised that my 1.8TSI DSG is averaging 42mpg with long motorway runs giving 47mpg.
  17. Thread resurrection time.... I have a 2016 L&K with 7 speed DSG and multi function steering wheel but no paddles, does any know the part number of the "set of buttons with paddles" that @SashaGracerefers to?
  18. Previously I had a 1.4TSI 6 speed manual, I wanted a DSG but my ex has 'a thing' about all auto/DSG/MMT, I am so glad I've now got a 1.8TSI 7 speed DSG as it makes it a much more pleasant drive. Don't get me wrong I like performance manual cars (my previous was an Audi RS4 with a 6 speed manual but the 4.2L engine was so flexible it could go from 20mph to 155+mph in 6th gear!). But the Octavia, even the vRS, isn't IMHO a performance car (vRS owners getting ready to argue with me...) and the DSG suits it really well. I mainly drive with the DSG in E mode but with kickdown or tapping the gear lever into S mode (I NEED paddles!) it makes me smile as it leave a big gap to the car behind. BTW I've added the underbonnet sound dampening pad so that's the only time I hear the engine. DSG or manual Octavia? Having driven both for me its DSG every single time.
  19. I have DSG on my L&K but no paddles, I'd love to retrofit them (I have an MFSW) as I miss having them (my previous Toyota Aygo MMT had paddles!). Are there any guides on retrofitting paddles?
  20. You've posted in the Octavia III forum, it might be better to ask fellow Superb owners in the Superb III forum here On a general DSG note, what mode do you have the gearbox in D, E or S ?
  21. Those of us who are long term Octavia III owners will remember that this has been posted before - probably well down the list of threads.
  22. Facing away reverses the phasing of the direct sound, that may have been the cause of the better sound.
  23. Sounds like the classic TDI failing water pump symptoms to me, get the water pump replaced before it either fails or starts leaking (as one post in the thread I linked to commented 'like a waterfall').
  24. What's the point? If they don't have stock then they don't have stock...and no amount of ranting & raving by me will make their supplier deliver it any quicker.
  25. When some lowlife smashed the front passenger window of an Audi A4 I used to own it took two weeks to get a replacement fitted.
