As E % moves higher and summer temperatures get higher ,is vaperlock going to be a problem?
My previous 1.4TSI Octavia hated E10, within 10 miles of filling with E10 the wideband lambda sensor would throw a fault code but not go into limp mode. Every time I cleared the code and it would stay cleared until the next time I filled up with E10. Not my problem now as it went to the ex...

Winter tyres - front wheels only?
Similar here, I used to swap between summer and winter tyres when the clocks change.

One touch window problem yet again, but with a twist!?!
First thought is that losing the settings after turning the ignition off MAY be because of the loss of non-switched power to the BCM, possibly a blown fuse?

Octavia VRS touchscreen unresponsive except for the power button
Timing chain or belt? On the Octavia engines with a timing belt Skoda UK 'recommend' changing it after 5 years but no other importer recommends this and some VW study documents suggest its for lifetime. Other VAG engines I've owned with a timing chain owners have reported some stretch becoming significant after more than 100,000 miles (the 4.2L 20V B6 S4 was particularly affected).

1.5tsi new dump valve sound
The only time I've experienced a dump valve whoosh is when I had an Audi 8L S3 chip tuned which increased the boost substantially, seems to me that your comment "running *very* well" suggests something has happened to the boost control?

Smartlink as standard on Octavia Scout December 2015?
Of course, I didn't go to my local Skoda dealer as they would charge almost 50% more and couldn't do it for several weeks (I wanted CarPlay working ASAP so I could use Google maps) so I went to a company I found in Redditch (Google is your friend...).

Smartlink as standard on Octavia Scout December 2015?
I had to have Smartlink activated on my 2016 model with a MIB2 when I bought it last month, seems the (only) previous owner never bothered.

Increasing Steering Feel on a Mk2 Fabia Monte
Might be worth asking those 'in the know' if there's a coding option in the electric steering controller (address 44?) to reduce the assistance.
-
MK3 choice
No only the front seats, the drivers seat is electric and has memory (which also memorises the mirror positions and means mirror dip on reverse works properly).
-
MK3 choice
My 1.4 TSI manual averaged 45mpg, I'm pleasantly surprised that my 1.8TSI DSG is averaging 42mpg with long motorway runs giving 47mpg.

Possible to fit DSG paddles?
Thread resurrection time.... I have a 2016 L&K with 7 speed DSG and multi function steering wheel but no paddles, does any know the part number of the "set of buttons with paddles" that @SashaGracerefers to?

MK3 choice
Previously I had a 1.4TSI 6 speed manual, I wanted a DSG but my ex has 'a thing' about all auto/DSG/MMT, I am so glad I've now got a 1.8TSI 7 speed DSG as it makes it a much more pleasant drive. Don't get me wrong I like performance manual cars (my previous was an Audi RS4 with a 6 speed manual but the 4.2L engine was so flexible it could go from 20mph to 155+mph in 6th gear!). But the Octavia, even the vRS, isn't IMHO a performance car (vRS owners getting ready to argue with me...) and the DSG suits it really well. I mainly drive with the DSG in E mode but with kickdown or tapping the gear lever into S mode (I NEED paddles!) it makes me smile as it leave a big gap to the car behind. BTW I've added the underbonnet sound dampening pad so that's the only time I hear the engine. DSG or manual Octavia? Having driven both for me its DSG every single time.

DSG or not to DSG?
I have DSG on my L&K but no paddles, I'd love to retrofit them (I have an MFSW) as I miss having them (my previous Toyota Aygo MMT had paddles!). Are there any guides on retrofitting paddles?

DSG strange behaviour?
You've posted in the Octavia III forum, it might be better to ask fellow Superb owners in the Superb III forum here On a general DSG note, what mode do you have the gearbox in D, E or S ?

Mudflaps do fit the VRS
Those of us who are long term Octavia III owners will remember that this has been posted before - probably well down the list of threads.

Subwoofer location in Estate -- thoughts?
Facing away reverses the phasing of the direct sound, that may have been the cause of the better sound.

2013 Skoda Octavia temperature warning light
Sounds like the classic TDI failing water pump symptoms to me, get the water pump replaced before it either fails or starts leaking (as one post in the thread I linked to commented 'like a waterfall').

Mystery Broken Window
What's the point? If they don't have stock then they don't have stock...and no amount of ranting & raving by me will make their supplier deliver it any quicker.

Mystery Broken Window
When some lowlife smashed the front passenger window of an Audi A4 I used to own it took two weeks to get a replacement fitted.

Octavia mk3 booked in for repair under warranty
That sounds like a dealer specific policy to me, even post-Covid I've always got a courtesy car from dealers and independents.

DSG or not to DSG?
My first Octavia was a 1.4TSI manual as my ex had a 'thing' against autos, but my current Octavia is a 1.8TSI DSG and I love it (in between I had an auto Toyota Aygo which she refused to drive). Not only is the DSG nicer to drive but my 1.8TSI DSG gives better mpg figures than the 1.4TSI manual despite me driving it enthusiastically(!).

Amundsen retrofit
If you're replacing a MIB2 Bolero with a MIB2 Amundsen (which is what those part numbers seem to be to me) then the only wiring change will be to add a GPS puck antenna as the Bolero has no GPS.

Replacing VERY noisy 18" Firestone tyres
... and the driver's style of driving in those conditions. In 1986 I had a Renault 5GT Turbo which ran 195 profile tyres on a car that weighed nor much more than a baked bean can. On my way to work in central Camberley one showy morning I had to drive up a steep hill from a bridge over the M3, on arriving at the bottom of the hill I was confronted by a long line of cars making no progress at all, but by careful throttle control and use of left foot braking to control the inevitable wheelspin I drove up the hill with no problems at all - much to the annoyance of several stuck 'Chelsea tractors'.

Replacing VERY noisy 18" Firestone tyres
I lived in North Devon near Exmoor (not that far from Cornwall) when 'The Beast From The East' blew in and we had roads on Exmoor blocked with 12 feet snowdrifts and the road to our house had 4-6 inches of snow which froze into craggy ice. It was noticeable that our neighbour on All Season tyres had no problem getting out to the local shops, while we couldn't even get out of the drive on Summer tyres. While events like this are much less common in the West Country they do still happen, my mindset is to be prepared. I respect your opinion but mine is different
