  1. The OP has stated, 1. Front of car struck a cat and that trim is missing. 2. Has had warning that front assist is malfunctioning. To me dealer is correct that it needs to be recalibrated. But there are independent specialists that can do this that may cost less than a dealer. The dealers dont often have the equipment themselves and sub it out. Google ADAS recalibration. Its up to the OP whether or not they want to repair it, but I know that on my insurance i have declared my vehicle has brake assist technology in the questions presented at renewal, as its now quite common place across many vehicle manufacturers, so if faulty it could potentially invalidate an insurance claim.
  2. @J.R. My heater fan dial has a menu button, pressing that brings up an "animated" picture view of the dash. Press the settings, button bottom right and Auxiliary heater can be ticked on and off. My car is MY16 with amundsen mib 2.
  3. So i was our earlier this morning, 4C outside, put AC in auto and heat to to 28C. I certainly noticed the revs increased to 1100rpm. I did have some heat from the vents even with the coolant temperature only just registering on the bottom of the gauge, so can only conclude it does work as suggested. Thanks all.
  4. Thanks, well that'll explain why I'm not noticing it much. I think I can count on one hand the number times I've been out when ambient temperature has been less than 5C first thing. I tend to travel mid mornings. But is says none of that in the user manual, @fr1nklyn how did you learn that info. I've got the EA288 self study pdf stored.
  5. Thx @langers2k, I guess the "edge" is probably a subjective observation too😀. My car's warmed up in 10mins or less on my drive out to work as I get a few miles on minor roads then onto an arterial A road. Certainly the EA288 is faster to warm than my old 1.9PD, that was freezing still after 15-20 minute commute! Anything in vcds that would tell me it's on? Must be something I can log...😆
  6. My climate menu button on the dial shows I have the supplemental heater. (Not full on cold climate version that uses fuel to heat it up) I can't say I can notice a "significant" difference in my cabin temperature with it on or off over the few years I've owned my 2016 MK3. 2.0 TDI. Plus it's not been that cold down south this winter. Is it there to heat the cabin quicker only, and does anyone "notice" it clearly when the use theirs in the colder months? Observations appreciated. Thank you.
  7. Welcome to our helpful community, as you can see no question gets ignored no matter how "obvious" to others. A very good point that those odometer buttons can be obscured depending on steering wheel and drivers position. to add a little more for you, when you fill up with fuel, the main trip computer (found using either the main screen or the thumb wheels on the steering wheel) will reset some items such as distance since refuel, distance range, average mpg average speed etc. It does also record distance since you first started driving, however unlike the button A you used to reset the mileage counter behind the steering wheel, it restarts that distance record if you stop for about two hours or more. I have to record mileage for work travel and use the "button A " menu so it records my full day despite long stops. Regards.
  8. Imo it will not hurt to service once per annum irrespective of milage travelled. And I think long life servicing is not the best regime for cars that are used less than 10k per annum. Obviously it's your money and your choice. But yes you could leave it for 12k miles more if on long life schedule.
  9. When you login, click products and services, and select Digital Service Schedule. then you get this page, put in the VIN and then click Open DSS as highlighted below, this will pop up a new window and the use the magnifying glass on the left to see what has been done
  10. I read that comment being, the maxiumum value 80 refers to the ASH residue in grams. Diagnostics can read this easy enough. So it would appear you have 40 grams which is no where near a "full" dpf. That is a measurement of whats left in the dpf thats not able to be burned off by active regeneration when the car injects diesel into the system to get the dpf really hot, usually noticable if stopped and outside the car it stinks, the revs increase to 1100rpm and fans run on for ages when you come to a stop.
  11. Having suffered this common issue too at 67000 miles, 2016 2.0 tdi there is absolutely no doubt that @51MM3 has 1. Has a blocked heater matrix as in the UK, the driver's side has little or no heat when it happened to me, so as the OP is in Sweden they say "passenger" side as left hand drive. 2. Needs all the coolant draining and the system flushed several times. 3. Expansion tank replaced with one without silica bag. 4. Heater matrix replacing. It can be done without removing the whole dashboard which is what the dealer is likely to say and costs a fortune. however there is room with the fan removed and a few other parts around it, YouTube has video of some one doing this. I was lucky and my garage flushed my system twice and some heat was recovered and I'm living with it for now.
  12. 0w will be "flow" better at the same cold temperature than 5w. The w is the viscosity or "weight" of the oil. It's that simple. The higher the first number the higher the "weight" You can use either as long as both meet 504 or 507 spec as mentioned by others above. 0w "might" be more beneficial if you live in very cold area alot of the time that's all.
  13. 2016 2.0 TDI DSG SEL (3.5 years old at purchase date). Some interesting comments in this. I'll say I'm pretty happy with my model. Likes: 2.0 TDI is a so easy on the pedal, effortless to overtake but then can take it real easy and just trundle along. £30 CAR tax. (for now anyway......) Economy is very good even with spirited driving at times (I got 62mpg brim to brim with smarter driving tactics in the fuel crisis) and very comparable to my old 1.9TDI PD in a Seat Altea with a bigger fuel tank. I really like interior which looks smart in Alcantara, and the dash layout is very clean compared to other competitors. Buttons and dials on the infotainment are, I'm sure, much more positive than touch screen in later MIB systems and easier to use. Boot space, and all the storage pockets, Variable boot floor is superb. I have it half folded back for work equipment on that "shelf" with a net across to stop it flying about, and then in the space in front of it PPE and plastic storage boxes, two types of hard hats, hang off the bag holders which is nice. For holidays I use it level with the boot lip and then sling loads of stuff under the first floor like waterproofs and shoes and even a clothes drier fits with ease. Its simply clever. Dislikes DSG (but I wouldn't go back to manual now😄) took me a while to get used to and I don't feel its well paired with the TDI, you have to think in certain situations (swift exits and roundabout's etc). I've tried to read up on how to drive it more smoothly, but it bugs me a bit, so any offers of some DSG driving lessons appreciated! Rear suspension beam, would prefer the VRS suspension setup. Window switches too far forward, I always get the back...😆 No adaptive cruise on mine, yet it has Front Assist, seems cheap not to have both as standard on SEL. Headlights are dreadful even with better bulbs, OSRAM night breaker and Philips Extreme Vision. Be nice to have driver seat storage box as standard.
  14. Could you put it up on stands to rotate the wheels more easily and that would have the added benefit of taking the load of the car, off the tyres entirely? You could tarp over the wheels to protect the discs too, (or grease them up to stop them rusting...not .) Watch out for rodents nesting too as it gets colder, they'll find their way in and up in any nook and cranny if they can. Exhaust pipe etc and air intakes etc Just think of the poor chap I heard about on the radio the other day, who picked up his daughter a hamster, which escaped in the car and then days later was still not found...then the car would not start...Porsche 911.....ouch....
  15. If you want satnav to display metres you could change your system setup "Units" to km. Press Menu button, Scroll left or right to" Setup". Scroll down to "Units" change from miles to km. This will put the dash odometer to km I don't think you can have just the Nav in metres.
  16. @briinthesky That's your auxillary drive belt connected to the alternator (top) and air conditioning compressor or possibly the water pump (i'm a TDI owner so different layout) the camshaft will be driven from a chain or belt (petrol or diesel engine dependent) that is well protected from the environment. If you want to see how the chain is inspected then watch this video in this link, its "buried" under some covers and requires some dismantling to get too. https://www.shopdap.com/blog/post/timing-chain-tensioner-and-chain-issued-for-2-0t-tsi-vw-and-audi-models.html
  17. @PetrolDave the OP did confirm he has a Petrol 2.0l in one of their posts above but thanks that you also confirmed that the TSI has a TIMING Chain 👍. From a bit of research this engine had issues with chain tensioners wearing up to revision/warranty recall ~2012 (again confirming to the OP that their car has a timing chain) one other issue is coolant thermostat giving out and coolant loss which is rectified by the thermostat housing being replaced with a modified unit. Wikipedia references the following engine codes across the group. 2.0 R4 16v TSI/TFSI (EA888)[edit] Manufacturing commenced March 2008. identification parts code prefix: 06H, 06J; ID codes: CAEA, CAEB, CAWA, CAWB, CBFA, CCTA, CCTB, CCZA, CCZB, CCZC, CCZD, CDNB, CDNC, CHHA, CHHB, CJXA, CJXB, CJXC, CJXD, CJXE, CJXF, CJXG, CYFB, DKFA
  18. And the cost at a dealer is paying for 1.the mechanics, sorry, I mean "Technicians" because that's sounds more fancy to the uninformed, to have clean overalls everyday due to the health and safety police, safety boots and safety specs in case an employee takes legal action against them when they get an injury.. 2. A person on the service desk that does not know what a 13mm spanner actually looks like but can input a registration into a computer and refer to a list of money making items such as an "air con cleanse" @£60 which would be £8 from Halfords for a can of scent left blasting out for 10mins with the Aircon running😄
  19. Me too how that would make it work / not work is strange
  20. well the dealer hasn't a clue then as per usual!!! Like I edited above, ring a good independent Audi/VW/SKODA/Seat garage and discuss with them, you'll get a lot more out of them than the service department at a dealer.
  21. quick search on the forum pulls this out: don't think chain will need doing for a while yet.... "The 1.0, 1.4 and 1.5 TSi engines ALL have a timing belt which Skoda UK recommend should be changed at 5 years. The 2.0 TSi engine has a timing chain" . Probably worth discussing this with a good independent to see if there are any reasons to check it at any interval
  22. did you ever get round to finding the part number from my photos, then you can know if MIB 1 or MIB 2 unit as your year has a changeover of parts depending on the build date?
  23. indeed, even with all the posts on this subject and the guides other have written for us (thanks to those for the contributions) something can always trip it up!
  24. Excellant glad you got there with it, well thats logged for the memory bank for next time, "lock the SD card" . Triple hourly rates charged to my Swiss bank account please ....☺️
  25. Good job we backed up old data then. SD card "locked" again with the slider bit? I've not seen "checking data" before on mine sorry. The only other thing I can remember in other threads with issues was using Mac to format card doesn't do it properly or the format type used initially.
