  1. Sorry have I missed something? The video I get shows how to lower the car and the jack is not placed at the sill jacking points. How is this relevant to jacking a car at the proper sill jacking points and then putting the car on axle stands? tom
  2. ...I suppose I'm just a bit reluctant to buy stuff from China. Silly really, half the stuff you buy in the UK is probably made in China anyway. tom
  3. Sorry can't answer this question, but here is an observation. I had a problem using my small trolley jack on the specified jacking points. The head of the jack did not spread the load around the seam. I solved the problem by cutting a groove in an ice hockey puck. They are a hard rubber and not expensive. This idea may be useful with the axle stands. I'm curious why you need four wheels off the ground all at the same time? Good luck tom
  4. How friendly is your dealer? See if they will let you have a look at the computer or even tell you what you need to fit the cover. tom
  5. Amazing. One hand covering the sensor, one hand holding the torch and one hand taking the picture! tom
  6. Have you tried using one of the better quality fuels like Shell V-Power. The different/extra additives in these make for a cleaner combustion. tom
  7. Glad you have worked it out. I'm still lost! tom
  8. ...but https://kumhotyre.co.uk/kumho-news/should-you-fit-new-tyres-to-the-front-or-rear/ https://www.edentyres.com/should-i-fit-new-tyres-to-the-front-or-rear/ tom
  9. Anyone come across the bag of silica crystals cooling problem in their Karoq? There is an article in the 1st March Car Mechanics (UK). Apparently a reader had the bag break causing cooling problems in their Ateca. There appears to be some posts here on Briskoda but mainly regarding Octavias. Another thread similar to the one mentioned in the article https://www.seatcupra.net/forums/threads/removing-silica-bag-from-coolant-header-tank.470769/ mentions a marking on the header tank 'Mit Silikat'. My Karoq's header tank doesn't have this marking. tom
  10. My take is that the high cost compared to other cam belt changes is down to the cylinder deactivation. They are covering themselves for any extra stresses this puts on the pulleys and the belt as well as the extra labour involved because of all that technology. I think this has been said previously and deserves repeating. tom
  11. My SeL resets to normal every time the ignition is switched off, tom
  12. On a 2wd car it's a good idea not to put a skinny wheel on the front, too much torque will be put through it. Would you really want a skinny wheel on the front in an emergency braking situation? Put the skinny spare on a rear wheel and use the 'good' wheel taken off to replace the front punctured one. tom
  13. Cannot the tables be removed? Looks like they unscrew from underneath. Just need to work out how to cover the holes. tom
  14. Check your engine oil level. Regens are made by extra diesel being injected into the engine. If these regens don't burn off this diesel then it runs down the bores into the engine thus diluting and raising the oil level. Not good. If this has happened you will also need an oil change. If a regen is occurring and you turn off the engine before it has finished the engine will be hot and often the cooling fan will remain running. After "the fix" my 2010 diesel Yeti did this regularly. I would then immediately restart and go for a decent 60/70 mph drive alternating between 3rd or 4th gear, not top gear, in order to burn off this extra diesel and complete the regeneration. Modern diesels are not designed for too many regular short journeys. This was the reason that when my driving pattern changed I got rid of my Yeti and bought a petrol Karoq. I am currently only doing around 5000 miles a year. tom
  15. I top up using filtered water and Skoda/VW/Audi washer fluid. I have done it this way since buying a new Passat in 1996. I would never use water straight out of the tap whatever the dilution with washer fluid. tom
  16. Varooom is about right with the price. see: https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/5g0857551aj2f4-sun-visor-left-skoda-35283.html https://skodapartsdirect.co.uk/product/skoda-karoq-drivers-sun-visor-2017-21/ the illustration show both driver and passenger. tom
  17. Anyone know where the aircon drain is? If it is in that area then dry the carpet with a hair dryer and then turn OFF the aircon. If the carpet remains dry then you have isolated the problem. Similarly, dry the carpet and put water into the well underneath the wipers, nowhere else. Again this may help to isolate the problem. After the above, if the carpet is still dry then pour water over the windscreen and see what happens. tom
  18. As said by Dappernut above clear the void between the rear of the bonnet and below the windscreen wipers, a good place for leaves to collect. tom
  19. This may be just a quirk of the system. On my 2018 SeL if I plug in my phone at the front in order to charge it it goes to CarPlay only. I don't use CarPlay. To just charge my phone I have to use the usb socket in the rear centre console or the boot. tom

When you decide what to do check out Asda. They are very competitive. They give you a choice of local tyre places. I went to a tyre fitter from the list who couldn't match the Asda price. I ordered with Asda and two days later the same fitter fitted the tyres, go figure! I saved around £120 on four tyres. tom
  21. I have often used white vinegar to remove the wax left by a car wash. Never had a problem. tom
  22. Thanks. Presumably the radar is only fitted if you have ACC. I don't, does that mean I don't have Emergency Braking? tom
  23. I'm confused. Isn't the radar, when fitted, situated at the top of the windscreen where the rain sensor is situated? Surely emergency braking is initiated by the parking proximity sensors in the bumper. tom
  24. On snow/ice 2 WD on winter tyres beats 4 WD on 'normal' tyres every day. tom
