Spins,bangs and rattles
Can't understand why people get expensive cars and then fit the cheapest nastiest ditchfinder tyres. I've seen plenty of tarted up, lowered etc high end Audis, BMW M series etc. with rubber band profile tyres and many have unheard of name Chinese tyres on! The ones I laugh at most are the ones with mismatched tyre size/profile and rim sizes where the rim edge is proud of the tyre wall. Inevitable alloy kerbing usually noticable. Wallies

Amundsen with Deactivated NAV? How to solve it?
Good info being posted. Compass is likely GPS derived not a real compass hence not available without navigation. A real magnetic compass would not work very well in a steel bodied car.....

Kamiq review - short and sweet
I have bought and driven Skodas for sixteen years, know the range inside out, and yes I know a Kamiq when I see one. Wanted to test drive a Scala, but none available sir, take this Kamiq for an hour instead. I did think it was the basic model, with the hard plastics and manual aircon, but the salesman insisted it was an SEL. Said it had optional extras too, ACC and something else iirc. No moniker on the tailgate to confirm. Maybe he was lying or just plain ignorant and it was an SE or even an S. It would make more sense as I found it difficult to believe a range topper would feel so basic. Maybe Kamiq is ok as a car for the missus doing the weekly shopping but the price was ridiculous for what it was.

Amundsen with Deactivated NAV? How to solve it?
Media files can also be accessed using the USB sockets, a memory stick or an SD to USB adapter. Some microsd usb card readers are very compact. Amundsen requires a Skoda protected SD card loaded with maps and works directly off the card. It needs to be a Skoda SD card as Amundsen uses the secure digital protection on it so an ordinary SD card won't work. In the UK its normally supplied with the car but can be purchased from Skoda or various other outlets. However......you don't appear to have an SD slot to plug it into. Could this because it's an optional extra in Turkey? I don't know.... Not sure if it would work using an USB adapter, someone else might know. You may have to ask your Skoda dealer. But with Android Auto, you may well find Google maps/Waze/Here maps/other more useful and they are free apps and updated far more frequently. Can't help with the Android Auto wireless question, I believe its only supported on the latest MIB3 units. Others may know more. .

any views on these seats?
Better check in the flesh if the 3d diamond effect is more an optical illusion or really raised.

Why is car insurance so expensive?
Quite simply its all about risk (for the insurance company) You havent given full details but heres a list of some of the things they take into account Fabia VRS 1.4 DSG insurance is especially high group 27 (our new high spec Superb is group 19, our fabia 2 1.2htp is group 2) Any modifications or extras Your age How long you've had a full licence Where you live (to do with insurance claims associated with the surrounding area) Your occupation Your credit rating Any accidents, claims or convictions in last six years Where the car is stored Use of car (social and domestic, commuting, business use) Annual mileage Age of all named drivers, their occupations, where they live, their other cars/policies, any claims or covictions in last six years. (They may have protected NCD so had accidents) If your nan/auntie dont live with you, adding one or both may actually increase the premium, ask the companies.. Likewise if they are too old. Plus more....including other (non car) insurance history of all named If you have never had car insurance in your name you are starting at 0% no claim bonus. Shop around directly with insurers as well as comparison sites, ask their advice. Best advice I can give you is sell the vrs, buy a low group insurance car and build up some no claims before trading up. 1 year no claims gives 30% or more discount. Insurance companies regard young newly qualified drivers as high risk, not just their opinion, butnhard statistics calculated by crunching insurance claim records for your particular demographic.

Disc
What I've done in the past is to use a penetrating oil spray can fitted with the straw and carefully spray a little oil in each of the disc stud holes at the split between the hub (threaded bit) and disc. Also the other alternate holes which have the hub blanking them. The oil gets drawn in by capillary action. A little oil around the hub centre/disc join too. Turning the disc at the same time. Allow the oil to penetrate, repeat squirting after a few minutes and wait for the oil to do its job for say 30 minutes. So far it worked for me as the disc usually then drops of with a light tap of the hammer at the edge of the disc face.

Wipers issue
For information, those occasional mm movements on start up/ shutdown are deliberate, so the blades don't always park with the same folded, pressed down position, which leads to judder as the rubber blade loses its flexibility to flip with direction of wipe. Or that's the theory.

Radiator grille centre piece
Its a clip in part, no screws involved.

Kamiq review - short and sweet
Ive not been in the back of a Karoq but I find your claim hard to believe. Checking with the brochure dimesion show Karoq being bigger than Kamiq, which is to be expected. Maybe your dads has varioflex seating that reduces headroom Karoq Kamiq

Radiator grille centre piece
Its a broken off clip of the original cover. Look at the clips on the replacement or broken cover to understand how they latch in. You need a small screw driver inserted on the top side and lever down the plastic latching bit while pulling out the clip with long nose pliers at the same time.

Kamiq review - short and sweet
To each his own but in my case, they must have got a special 1.0tsi SEL when I had a test drive last year. Cheap and nasty interior was my impression, hard plastics all round, some badly fitting, including the top of the dash and doors where I would have expected some squidgy material on a SEL. Had to check it was not the basic model. The rear seat area looked even worse. It was fairly quiet, but had a tendency to bounce around, sometimes quite violently, on less than perfect roads. Rear seat area looked very cramp indeed with lots of exposed hard cheap plastic trims at the sides. Basically a Fabia size interior on stilts, ridiculous pricing for cash buyers.

Skoda Enyaq
763 seems way too expensive for a 3year/10k pa lease as a starting point! I understand the principles behind salary sacrifice can't find an easy to understand comparison calculator.

CTEK MXS 5.0 battery charger
13.6 may be due to it hitting current limit during the bulk/absorbtion phase, check again after a couple of hours and it should have risen if thats the case. https://www.ctek.com/storage/28170E5A4DF8DDE255F2544A55F5C421179A3398C557729443D3E9C908F0382E/d4c71f1fcf354b37bdfb3841d00adafd/pdf/media/01d8e64db81c4259bda89213323dad93/MXS_5.0-manual-low-UK-EN.pdf

My Third MK3 Superb But The First Diesel
What happened to @shyVRS245? I'm guessing from his profile that he's been banned, but for how long? Did he fall victim to our resident snowflakes?

Spins,bangs and rattles
Iirc, its easy for the front tyres to break loose when you floor the throttle on a 220ps tsi. Only time I provoked tyre spin on my lowly 1.4tsi with P7 tyres, there was a lot of uncouth banging and other noises with the traction control light flashing away. So maybe its just the budget tyres, have you decent ones on the back you can swap to the front?

1.2TSI cam chain problem
Heres a video showing the camchain change according to workshop procedure, you can see the crankshaft sprocket is changed using a special tool.

1.2TSI cam chain problem
https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/03f198229a-timing-set-1-2tsi-63kw-77kw-skoda-25113.html Note it says for pre 2011 engines ALL components must be changed. As yours is 2012- they are possibly going to reuse the existing sprocket which is a bad idea as @sepulchrave says, this is the sprocket that the chain will jump if allowed to due to wear and lack of tension Saving time and need for appropriate puller tool, cutting corners? Only other reason if the sprocket is not removable on this engine, but I think that is unlikely given its in all the parts lists -> 2014 https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/03f105209g-chain-sprocket-skoda-38508.html Btw I think its not necessary to change the oil pump sprocket or chain. Its unlikely they are worn. They didn't change these when they fitted the new timing kit to our 2011 Octavia.

What’s this loud noise after engine turned off?
I was referring to TSI petrol engines which do have water and oil cooling on the turbo with run on after switch off. EA211 Page 23 of SSP 511 SSP-511_The_New_EA211_Petrol_Engine_Family.pdf Also EA888 SSP606 page 31 SSP606 link Thought it might be the same for all current engines but stand corrected as far as EA288 diesel engines. Apologies, but now we know....

Thoughts on a new MY21 Superb Sportline 280
1.4tsi with torque converter box, what an ideal combination. Pity the EU insist on us getting 2nd best to please the greenie activists who jet around the world to their hot air conferences and jollies.
-
TSI 1.2 timing chain issue
It is a great pity that they couldn't get it right because this engine is otherwise quite excellent, though the turbo actuator is something that gives problems on later engines, also effecting other tsi tubos to this day so not unique to the CBZA/B engines.

A British adventurer plans to drive an EV truck from Pole to Pole
No it wasn't him, this was quite a long time ago. All I can really say is the person I refer to was very demanding (both finanacially and it terms of what luxuries he expected to be provided).
