  2. Make your mind up, 1st you say the benefit of V2G whatever, you can go off grid and save money (standing charge), but then you say otherwise. I'll leave it at that.

  4. I pay £1,029 inc vat and standing charge for 3211kWh annual consumption. Less from 1 April. Lets assume my yet to be purchased £50,000 Tesla can supply my home electricity needs at 90% round trip efficiency. So 3568kWh. I'll discount the cost of the trip to the charger and back and my time spent waiting or buying/consuming overpriced coffee and effect on my mental and physical health. Never mind VED, Insurance, S&M, depreciation cost. Lets assume the charger is always working and available. 3568 x 0.67 = £2391 pounds. Bargain, but how do I stop the ice cream melting in my freezer when I'm away?
  5. How cheap is this Tesla electricity? Not sure Id want to drive to my nearest Tesla charger, spend half an hour or more to top it up then drive home every 3 or 4 days at best. Oops I forgot about my freezer and fridge and home heating. Especially when I go out for the day, or go away for a few days. Oh and what if I need to use the car to go anywhere a bit further? Yes another trip to the charger. All to save £200, I don't think so. Don't tell me your solar panels will help, not in winter or at night.
  6. I'm sure there would be legal, insurance and tax implications. You might be even in breach of your contract with electricity companies or mortgage provider. Public liability, safety certificates, declaring income to the taxman. If you rent your property you'd certainly be in breach of your rental contract.

(Got a pro rata refund) The All In plan was far more cost effective (then it was £25 per month) offering 2 years warranty basically the same warranty as the Skoda extended warranty PLUS 2 services (which can be long life /variable but now must be carried out within a 3 year time frame) PLUS 2 MOTs PLUS Roadside assistance for 2 years by the AA. Can be transferred if you sell the car. Its more expensive now but still probably better value for money than an extended warranty. And as its for cars up to 6 years old you could get warranty cover up to 8 year old. In my case I renewed mine in Nov and I have cover till the car is 7¾ years old. Car does 18k per year so the service cover is ideal and for me the plan is as cheap as just paying for servicing in isolation. As official Skoda servicing is included it gives less scope for them to refuse warranty claims. Btw, you can have the 1st included service done straight away if you need it. Ask it be done on the longlife regime and then schedule the next to suit you. So maybe that will save you money too.
  8. Never driven to Zero miles, I try to avoid unnecessary stress. I've seen 76 litres to 1st click with 70 miles remaining so thinking mine has a 80 litre tank.   9. What's a safety bolt? The anti theft bolts are tightened the same as the standard bolts.
  10. I suspect you haven't used this google feature. The warning is merely an audible bong, hardly a distraction. Unless it's a mobile speed camera warning which in effect is telling you to keep your eyes peeled and speed down. You'd find it even more infuriating when the double flash goes off (newer cameras don't flash) and a letter marked private and confidential drops on your doormat a few days later..
  11. You left it too late, should have rejected it when the 1st MOT gave the advisory. As wear and tear items, they are probably not covered by any warranty you may have been given and your 6 month consumer rights act period has passed, they did you a favour by allowing you to go to an independent which was probably half the price.

" Repacement is due in 2026, today is early 2024. 2 years is a long time for a product replacement with no production. In the UK, as you know, pure EV's need to make up 22% of their UK new car sales this year increasing year on year to avoid crippling penalties or the purchase of expensive credits from the likes of Tesla. I personally believe they have over produced either not anticipating the collapse in sales of the Leaf or maybe intentionally building stock to optimise costs/tax and then cut further costs by closing the line completely.
  13. The left shock absorber is perfectly ok and need not have been replaced. The right shock absorber may have passed an MOT but I'd be inclined to replace it. Contrary to popular belief its not necessary to change both sides provided you are going for equivalent parts. The same goes for Springs.   16. Allegedly the rod would only extend on its own if its a gas filled shock absorber. Oil filled only dont. No idea which Skoda factory fits. Gas filled are a bit more expensive so maybe not those Both contain oil before you ask.
  17. Not sure what that video proves. He had to push down hard on the rod so it was a still functioning shock absorber. Was that fluid stain nearby oil from the shocker or just some water as further seen in the background
  18. I'm only aware of one "free" colour - Energy Blue. Skoda worked really hard to come up with a colour that offends the eye so much. Most people don't go for it, I wonder why?

Yesterday I drove the length of the M1 and round the M25 and back with numerous road works, smart motorways and a motley collection of overhead gantry signs some to one side some in colour others all orange and standard roadworks speed signs by the side of the carriageway. Lots of closed lanes with stranded vehicles and some stupidly low limits, foul weather and everyone trying to drive too fast for the conditions. Traffic sign recognition in the Superb didn't work correctly 50% of the time, ignoring a lot of signs. Good job I have 2 eyes and a brain otherwise could have got fined very easily. Google maps is the way to go. The audible speed camera warning is fantastic. Skoda maps are rubbish in comparison and don't have speed camera warnings.
  20. Hmm, I may be wrong, but I think I recall some discussion that changes e.g. wheel alignment or windscreen replacement, may require ADAS calibration. This could also apply to matrix lights. Which might be a reason not to buy a car with it.

  22. It's rather strange that all 3 exhaust valves were damaged but none of the inlet valves. If oil is being burnt as blue smoke then it's likely thats oil drawn in through the inlet valve seals, not exhaust valves or overpressured crankcase oil coming back through the PCV. As @J.R. points out it could be ring related, bore damage maybe even a piston with a small hole where a valve punched it. They earlier did offer to fix it for £300+ perhaps @Catherine41 should accept if they will still do that but can guarantee it will be fixed and warranty (6 months min) the work. Maybe there has been too much confrontation now to pursue this solution. @Catherine41 should take @thomasaspin advice and pop over to Ashtons Autoworx in Lees Oldham and ask for free advice and a quote.

  24. Without further evidence, its difficult to guess what was or not done. The OP keep talking about a cambelt when any 1.2 engine of that era is a camchain. She said they replaced a couple of bent pistons, pistons dont generally bend, a conrod might but unlikely, Valves will definitely bend due to the angle they hit the piston crown.
  25. Maybe living in France you don't have the same protections as us. Section 75 protection is a uniquely British credit card thing enshrined in the Consumer Credit Act 1974.
