This is exactly how the old Lane assisted worked in slow moving traffic

Hi there. I have a 2023 L&K with Travel Assist and pACC. I've tried the change to 'add tolerance for Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control' but nothing seems to have worked. Are you supposed to get any changes in the menu for ACC system.

Travel Assist did exist in 2016 but back then it was called Lane Assist and had adaptive lane guidance to keep you in the centre of the lane as apposed to just bouncing you off the white lines like it does now. I was a bit annoyed when I changed to an Octavia Mk4 which also had Lane Assist. I was expecting it to work the same as my older Superb MK3, but then found out it had been dumbed down to just keep you in lane

Me Too. Time to call it quits on the Octavia Mk4. Can't say i've really got on with it. Nice car to drive but there too many niggles that I've had with it that spoils the whole experience. Going back to a Superb L&K and hoping for a better driving experience.

Like yourself I had a 2016 L&K but I part exchanged it for 2021 Octavia Mk4 which came with Lane Assist. To my amazement it wasn't the same as the original Lane Assist as the Superb L&K but something that just stopped you going over lane markings. As a result of this I got myself a second hand steering wheel and upgraded the software to activate Travel Assist which has worked well. It has better torque on the steering when going around bends and does keep you in lane better. Anyway getting back on track. I am getting a 2023 L&K next weekend which does have Travel Assist, Predictive ACC, TSR and a few other additions that I didn't have on the original L&K. I suppose I'll find out when I pick it up.

HI all. Can anyone tell me what the Lane/Travel assist is like on the 2022/2023 Superb. I had Lane Assist on a 2016 L&K model which was adaptive and kept you in the centre of the lane. Does anyone know if it's been updated or is it still the same. Would be glad to hear from anyone with experience of it on the recent face lifted model as there doesn't seem to be much available info on the inter-web

Typical Skoda/VW response. ‘Not heard of this problem’. They’re just waiting for warranties to expire on early reg MK4 Octavia, Golf’s A3’s etc and then they wont have to deal with the problem. If you want it fixing you’ll have to replace the steering wheel yourself at your own expense.

I have an mk4 diesel estate with an aftermarket removable Westfalia tow bar. The car has a towing capacity of 1600 kg which is ok for my caravan. With regards to towing, the car has no issues with towing re hills etc. I normally tow at 57 on a motorway. The only issues I have experienced is passing wagons on the motorway. You normally have do 60mph and it can become a bit unstable if your not careful. I try to give them a wide berth if possible. I normally get around 34 mpg on a motorway trip as apposed to the 65-68 mpg I get for a similar trip when not towing. on a positive note I have used travel assist in good weather on the motorway and it has done a good job keeping in lane though it doesn’t do so well around road works. Doesn’t like traffic cones at the road side.

I agree with you reguarding the pricing. You can get a specked up Audi A3 or an Audi A4 for not much more than a than the equivalant Octavia or a Superb. Good look with your new car.

In the UK If your car has a manufacture date post Jun 2022 then 'Traffic Sign Recognition' is available as a function on demand through via you MMI screen, though I have no idea how much it costs.

The short answer is ‘No’ but it is possible to activate the current speed limit sign in the MMI screen and get a speed limit audible warning with some coding using an OBDeleven

Ive never heard such a load of old crap about a requirement for a more powerful graphics processor to get updated graphics. The 1st Mk4 models are exactly the same as those on the 2021 Seat Leon, Golfs and Audi A3's which all show a combination of maps and standard clocks. The Octavia Mk3 had a digital cluster upgrade with clocks and maps on the same screen. I remember when buying my Octavia Mk4 the rep was telling me you could choose from millions of colours for the background graphics. turned out to be 9. Sales reps will tell you anything to get a sale As usual Skoda holds back on features to differentiate from Seat, VW and Audi.

I would stay clear of any VW based vehicles based on the current MQB evo platform. Although my Octavia mk4 drives well enough the standard of the infotainment, ACC, Travel assist and safety systems are awful.

I totally agree. It’s the most obnoxious looking thing I have ever used, very plasticky. I think it’s so small so it’s not confused with a normal gear selector. There are replacements for the golf and Audi A3 but to be honest they don’t look much different to the standard selector.

I don’t generally use it. The only reason I checked it was because of the speed limit warnings I was getting and the fact that the travel assist was showing the wrong layout on the motorway. everything seems to be working again ok for now

Just had the same problem this morning. On my way from Leeds to Manchester on the m62. Started to get audible alarm for exceeding the speed limit. On checking the sat nav it thought I was in Horrogate. I also had the same problem with the ACC which kept slowing me down as I was passing cars along with travel assist which was only showing single track road instead of the usual 3 lanes on a motor way

Noticed that your MMI was showing traffic sign recognition. Did this come factory fitted.

Hi there. Just out interest, what year and model of Octavia do you have.

Mine didn't show adblue levels when I bought it. The only reason I knew it was available to display was that I had it on my old Superb Mk3.

if you want to display adblue on the main dash you are going to need access to an OBDeleven or a VCDS Select module 5F Information Electrics. Adaptions Vehicle menu operation-menu_display_Adblue. Set to activated Vehicle menu operation-menu_display_Adblue_over_threshold_high. Set to activated. If you check through the dashboard options it will be available on the list.

It’s supposed be the eco display. It’s replaced the old bar chart you used to get on MMI screen. From my point of view it is pointless. Apart from the green bars bobbing up and down I don’t see what it’s supposed to show. If you want to know how economic you driving is display the MPG.
