  1. Nope, not need for a Stage 1 tune. I will b getting a TCU tune later in the year, so it's (the DSG transmission) more "comfortable". I had a Stage 2+ ECU and TCU tune on my previous mk2 Octavia RS, nothing beefed up, with no issues for 6 yrs.
  2. yesterday i "accepted" to APR's terms and conditions!!! Stage 1 High Torque ECU tune. boy oh boy!! i forgot how much fun a tune can be!! car has transformed nicely. tuner guy was saying the 4th gear 80-120km/h test dropped from 5+ secs to 3 secs!! in theory, its now doing 320 hp (240 kW), 381 ft-lbs (510 Nm). happy as can be
  3. retrofitting a BSM system is quite complex, involves lots of wiring, and has many components. with regards to a full spec list for ur vehicle, get urself a Skoda erWin subscription for 24hrs, and get an 8 pg (or so) report for every PR code used to build ur specific car (based on ur VIN). "7Y9 - Blind spot monitor plus lane keeping system" is what u'd b looking for in ur build/spec sheet.
  4. the process is very simple!! https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/
  5. No way I would've known. The TPMS alerted me, saying the pressure on the right rear was down to 23 psi. An indirect TPMS would've alerted me too, but just won't tell me how bad.
  6. we've (east coast of aus) had about 3-4 days straight of high 30s, with a day or two above 40 - so i'm familiar with "hot". when its that hot, setting to AUTO 20-21 is more than adequate. otherwise i leave it on AUTO 22 all year round either way - its ur car, ur comfort, so a chilli 16 degrees it is
  7. It's the same for me - listening to Spotify via the car's Android Auto is much louder than listening to Spotify on the phone via Bluetooth. I've played around with the settings, no improvement.
  8. I drive past a commercial building site on my way to work everyday - so I'm pretty sure where I'm getting my share of screws!!!
  9. The Superb already comes with a Qi Wireless Charger in the phonebox.
  10. For the 4th time, since getting the car brand new 3.5 yrs ago, I've had to put on the spare tyre!!! Yup, I got screwed....again!!!
  11. 16 degrees!!! Eesshhhh.
  12. I've got an MIB2 unit, so no chance of it having wireless capability. Hence I too have signed up for an AAWireless unit. I'm looking forward to it as it will pair nicely with my wireless phone charging.
  13. I came from an MY11 Octavia RS liftback to my current MY17 Superb 220 liftback. The rear space for the kids & passengers is immensely more. The boot space, again, immensely more. Ease of driving the bigger Superb is still the same as wat the Octavia was. The Superb is a nice comfortable "cruiser", compared to the more sportier & firmer Octavia RS.
  14. It was relatively easy to do. The front cover unclips easily from the top, then unhinge from the bottom. The actual tray has two hinges at the bottom - the right side pops up, allowing u to slide the left side out. Then unclip the wire plug to the car, and u can then proceed to freely remove the 12V socket from the tray. The replacement USB socket fit perfectly in the existing hole.
  15. Completed the rear console 12v socket to a dual port USB. Was nice n simple to do. Clean finish. Happy with it
  16. the indirect TPMS version is good and accurate. it uses the ABS sensors to determine "tyre pressure loss". the direct TPMS uses a sensor valve in each tyre to give u actual tyre pressure readings. the battery in the valve sensors have a 10 yr lifespan. i recently upgraded mine from the indirect to direct version, as per the link posted above by @MartiniB. standard/default Indirect Tyre Pressure Loss Indicator (Indirect TPMS) vs Direct Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) not really. it cost me $200 to retrofit the direct tpms (OEM version) to my Superb. u can get much much cheaper direct tpms kits that use either a smartphone app, or a small unit that sits on ur dashboard, showing the readings. @MartiniB has got this version, and has provided links for it.
  17. Manoeuvre Assist was introduced from MY18 onwards, at least with the Superb. i have an MY17, and it didn't come with, or have the option for Manouevre Assist.
  18. Manoeuvre Assist - "The integrated Manoeuvre Assist brake function detects obstacles in front of and behind the vehicle and automatically brakes if necessary."
  19. Removing the snow filter didn't make any difference to the power delivery or feel, or induction noise. It was more about knowing that having it removed would allow an uninterrupted airflow through the airbox. With the turbo inlet elbow - can't really say there was a noticeable difference on its own. In combination with the inlet pipe, and air filter - it definitely felt more eager. It didn't feel like hesitation, and would want to keep urging u on for more the car throttle also seems a bit more throatier. There is more induction noise. I like how the engine sounds now
  20. Fuse no. 48 is the blind spot detection. I used to. 47 (rear wiper). No issues with the dashcam, working only when there is ignition.
  21. Wat @Winosaid. It's the only place that will give u a report of every PR code (item) from factory the car was built with, based on the VIN. I've done it myself.
  22. Link for the rubber insert. Link for Hardrace Rear swaybar for AWD. I got the FWD (7759) version. Very happy with it.
  23. @Colin170CRlol, now that u point it out, yeah, I've let that one slip The engine bay would certainly look much better with the hard plastic version how is it held in place though? Does it "stay" by simply sitting on top of the battery? With regards to the air intake cover - it's the standard factory one. All I did was stick the Superb lettering (that I debadged off the rear bootlid) on it, spaced out
  24. @Colin170CR - so i went away, much to my fear, and put some numbers against it!! wat was i thinking?!?!? lol end of day, it wasn't too bad. all up, over the 3.5 yrs, i've spent a total of $7k on the above modifications. most were cheap, small mods - but there were lots of them, so they added up. the "significant ones" were:- - Rieger side-skirts (total cost just under $1K to ship it across the world and have it painted. i fitted it myself) - Sportline rear diffuser (cost $420 in total. the shipping alone, cause Superskoda, cost more than half of the actual diffuser itself!! i fitted it myself) - Roof wrapped Gloss Black vinyl (cost me $450 to get it professionally wrapped) - Rear sway bar (cost me $330) - Eibach Prokit Lowering Springs (supply and fit cost me $900) - Smart Light Assist (SLA) retrofit (parts cost me $800. sold my original headlights. so total cost was just over $400) i've saved on a lot of labour costs by doing/fitting many things myself. i also invested in a VCDS cable, costing me $330, but i've done many many codings over the years. p.s. the doctor's don't want to see me - they say there is no hope for me!!!! p.p.s yes, planning to keep Gandalf for a while. we're both going to go grey n old together
  25. again, all installations/retrofits i did myself Technology/Lights Modifications - Start-stop memory device - Smart Light Assist (SLA) retrofit (P/N: 3V2941015B, 3V2941016B, 4H0941329 x2, 8P0941621) - Direct Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) retrofit (P/N: 5Q0907273B, 5Q0907275B x4, 3G0907538) - Dynamic Wing Mirror Indicators - Mega Power LED boot lights - Auxito LED bulbs - reverse and indicator bulbs. top = factory halogen bulb bottom = LED bulb - Lumileds LED fog light bulbs - Philips xTremeVision Gen2 D3S bulbs top = factory bulb bottom = Philips bulb - Rear door warning lights retrofit - SUPERB Ghost LED door warning lights, front & rear - Blackvue DR450 front dashcam - Rear console 12v socket converted to Dual USB ports (in progress)
