  1. The steering wheel wiggle at junctions keeps or starts the engine. That for me at least has smoothed out the stop start, auto box ready to go. dsg is very smooth really. Occasionally find it dropping down or going up mid corner. So if I’m after enjoying the wiggly bits, I to it over to manual. those are my top two.
  2. The electric motor struts on my superb, failed twice in three years. If I had my way I’d get rid of them. Old man’s outback electric boot, now stops half way up. HUD , now this I do see value in. However apparently they do not work if you use polarising lenses. Idk if that’s true or parroted rubbish. rough road, lights I’d take. my order of what I care about is tyres, brakes, lights. The rest is just icing on the cake and highly variable. one would hope in the next six to twelve months production issues abate. However each nice to have might add to a delay.
  3. Updated thread title.
  4. Thanks. Getting a little grumpy at my creaking joints. then I get in the car and it’s joining in.
  5. That is a really tricky one. could be any warning. Yellow isn’t bad, so likely to be a : washer fluid, oil, service, or something like that. trying to recall what mine showed for things like dpf filter. see if you can find a local independent garage with a scanning tool. That will show the error. Otherwise I’m afraid it’s a guessing game with expensive outcomes if guessed wrong/ignored.
  6. If this combo was available On a 1.5tsi I’d be tempted. Don’t do enough mileage for a diesel. Do enough to esoteric areas to be twitchy on electric. the value proposition is, or was a strong card on skoda since vag acquired them. 20+ years ago, a Octavia next to an a4… yes you get a better door shut sound. But going forwards, round corners was pretty close and a good deal different in price. if the skoda price rises keep going(desirable pricing drive), sat in a similar priced let’s say Volvo vs Octavia, it gets much tougher. that said neither skoda nor Volvo are like their ancestors. I mean a modern Chinese Volvo isn’t a Swedish one; negative perception and the contra on skoda since vag. And overall vag not as strong as an Audi was in the 80/90’s. IOW Korean brands where it’s at
  7. Aye the lack of torque was high on my list after diesels. when I switched to the citigo, first sub 90ho car for 20years it was quite a surprise on big hills. Lots of keeping on top of power & revs. wifes 1.0litre focus much the same, but oddly maybe better in time than the previous 1.6d she had. Time as they say. re mpg, that I don’t know with the fabia 1.2. Might be in part driving it like a diesel and adjusting… or something else more mechanical. it does seem that a smaller engine and bigger frame seems counterintuitive to b better. I’ll use more fuel ragging it to get going. Surprisingly after a while, again re wife’s focus with a 1l turbo, they do get through fuel in urban, hilly places, but sip it when on the motorway. hth.
  8. Hi, welcome to the community. what about the fabia isn’t impressing you much?
  9. Hei, Welcome. Hopefully we can collectively answer, you can share back to the Norwegian forums too.
  10. Don’t have a mkIII Octavia boot to hand. However when it does not fit, the superb is bigger. I can get my sonder Camino in the boot without wheels on, or with seats down, in with rear wheel on; stupid flared bar pushes on parcel shelf so is 90degrees to frame. Might not help. it might go in upright/vertical in an estate form if you drop the seat/wheels off?
  11. Eliminating obvious of bringing fuel in with you on your feet etc… given difference with a slope, my gut is thinking small leak from something. Definitely get it checked at the service. Of course they will likely say nothing to be found, I’d say it’s unusual, one clip missing and water aka fuel always finds a way.
  12. At tuning box is still possible. Also helpful to remove it before garage etc. Many moons ago, apr did a selectable map, one was valet mode. Killed boost and capped at 4k. The garage were adamant there was a problem with the car and I should leave it with them to investigate. be nice if we could do similar, handing over keys to car park folks… while not a 250gto, ferris Bueller, springs to mind frequently.
  13. I use Chris knot insurance. Because the throttle thingy is not a power/handling change, it’s akin to a visual change; my take on it, thus no premium charge. Or I’m paying enough already they took a hit for me…
  14. I have a pedal box, transforms the feel. Decided after that I don’t need a remap… yet. declared at no cost, other than the box of tricks. tbh, fwd and 245 is naturally limiting, even with a trick diff. Can’t change the laws of physics after all.
  15. Hehe b roads.. for fun now I’d go and root out a Yaris GR. then get some dental insurance. I dare not go and find one as I’ll not be able to resist. the superb 272 on factory ice skate tyres in winter was dire. More in heavy rain. With a set of all season, or winters, I’d have no doubts bar ground clearance. My old superb4.4, 170> 200ish was a lot of fun in the snow, Meadowhall car park most notably after I was distracted by food while it snowed heavily. Drove out eventually, got lost and had to go around a few times the odd few weeks of bad weather; I’d still be happy fwd, with winters on. The citigo I had was brilliant in the snow and heavy rain on full winters. I left them on all year for those rainy days and muddy parking spots. do you need the size of an new Octavia? they are a bit bigger than they used to be. 12years of pies. Right on the end of b road. Plus low profile tyres in the roads now scare the hell out of me. So much so a xtrail is on my short list… totally concede to the old fart within. I’ve been half tempted to find a mk1 that’s not been too messed about with. not rushing is smart in this market too.
  16. Welcome, I too regret my mk1 Octavia sale, both of them for different reasons. From the sport line plus 272 side, it’s a point and squirt in comfort kind of drive. Yes she’ll hustle down b roads, but it’s big and even on dcc sport, not an Octavia RS experience. I had a remapped Superb diesel, did ok, neutralised the transmission losses, def did begin to cause some pain, but probably not due to the remap. the fun for the diesel drive was in rising the torque wave. If you feel you can adapt and acknowledge that it will never sound great… however if you don’t do a lot of miles, I’d really think twice about diesel. Friend who is a travelling sales, actually went to a 1.5tsi and reckons still saves him over diesel, due to cost difference at the pump and the whole magic Act cylinder stuff. the challenge/245 rs with the electronic diff is a difference fwd experience and apart from the odd wet junction launch a worthy challenger to 4x4 Haldex. hth.
  17. Welcome, yes the 245vrs is quite deceptive at hiding speed. the 272 are even worse glad we as a community helped your old superb along.
  18. Hi, welcome to the community. no formal rules to say hello, just a nudge id agree the back of the roomster; used to own one and miss it, is very practical. are you planing to modify for a lift/crane for your mobility scooter?
  19. In the interests of science, I asked an AI this morning. every 60,000km or 6 years. Fully synthetic atf, that meets vw/Audi spec g 052 162 A2. …but then it also thought I was the founder on an iot company in south wales and won an award last year… so maybe they not spam emails after all.
  20. @Smiler100 I split your post from the for sale topic. It’s a good question in its own right. changing tyre profile depth (40) is possible. Just be aware the overall rolling size, as that will alter many things inc Speedo. A set of 18” might afford more profile and a bit more cushioning. problem is, that’s all 4 wheels and tyres and far more expense.
  21. I keep swinging between do it and don’t do it. Each time I swing over to the mg4, I swing back via the qashqai with its electric drive sweetness mated to ice on board charging. At least with the branded Tesla you know who to call
  22. Welcome @Project_Yeti A good base can be built on. I think a few models over. the years have prooven this with keen owners. I hope you find your answers.
  23. Hi @lounas we have readers from all over the world. Rightly or wrongly we have a english posting guideline. It helps all, I've done a basic translation below. I don't mind native language posts, so long as they have an english translation, although the preference is english only, publically. Help Calculated mass soot progresses rapidly and triggers regenerations. What solutions?? Thank you.
  24. Yep, sorry I’ve had a lot on my plate. I’ve tried to extract myself from a few extra jobs I had on the go. Then good old life kicks ya in the walnuts, and before you know it two months have flown by. if anyone wants to organise, get a ball rolling, please do let me know. That said, I’ll see what I get up to tomorrow.won’t be making a salad for lunch so will call the south lakes place I had I mind. thanks for the prod…
  25. … and there’s that. a tin box does provide some crash protection. maybe it’s more a romantic connection to the freedom, or immersion in the environment. Feeling every flying insect. maybe I’ll watch some rider cam videos and scare myself out of it.
