Cupra Born
Worse than the past three decades… I was spoilt by growing up around Citroen, discs were a thing for them before disks were an idea for many uk manfs. The vow van we had was drums and they never stuck, didn’t always slow down that much when a tonne up… I’ll take it for a test, can’t say fairer than that. I think it fits on the drive. Maybe a Little bit sticking out, for pushchairs to prang.

…and drum brakes on the rear. Had no end of hassle with them on the Citigo, think John Cleese and a tree branch for one such occasion in a glen in Scotland. next…

Cupra Born
I was thinking I might get a call. I think as I said I wasn’t putting a deposit down on launch day they have fatter wallets to snack on. started to book a Tesla test… only 45mikes away… this testing my nerve to committing to 90miles of vodka burning.

Back again
Welcome back. Now anybody know the lyrics to hotel California? There are a lot of us oldies. Many lurk, waiting for something. I’d say there are not many that skoda has managed to hold onto for 20plus years. That’s a lot of changing values, brand and individuals.

Enyaq vs Tesla Model Y
I actually think its how dealerships will become. There will be super centres where all models and lots of options will be there to go and kick…. You’ll go home and order. Then the ‘smaller’ garages in each town will become service centres. That’s my view anyway, because how can a 10million Volvo garage be justified when another n million one is 20mins drive away in the next town/city. I’ve driven up to a couple of hours to see a spec/model. That puts a lot of garages in between that I skipped, lots of staff to fund, on the off chance someone pops in to buy. Sure it’s generational things too. Renault Zoe is a good example, few options, but good enough not to worry about pack a with pack b while you have to deselect pack c and oh crap thats 500 more than if I pick pack d without pack b, I only wanted a mug holder. So I think it’s a perfectly good and seemingly profitable model. After all, it’s a once in three years event, mostly. With all the charging network woes, I am thinking a tesla makes sense, given it can slurp of non tesla points too. There ain’t many in the wilds of Wales/Scotland etc

Anyone dead set on Sportline estate, but then changed to an L&K and glad you did ?
I’m in a 272, sportline. Did consider l&k, then found a sportline with DCC, canton, heated bits n bobs. I’ve lost 2k in three years if I got what autotrader reckon. I brought it at 4 mths old. problem is swmbo does not like the seats. That said she’s not driven it either She may of liked the l&k. I opted for a throttle/pedal box till now. In sport with pedal box set to race 1, it’s quite peppy. Toying with a remap. mostly use it in individual sport everything, drive eco, tap it back to sport when I want it.l to pick up its skirt and go.

Enyaq vs Tesla Model Y
despite the cost of a hire car it’s far less than monthly’s for a new nice car. i don’t care tp for the looks that much. I do care that Ev’s are overpriced, all that r&d they need to get back, put the onus on ice too. I’ve ruled out larger ev’s now. Instead thinking about the stupidity of a carpeted van for weekends and a Zoe like ev for everything else. Swmbo lease car expires next year, possibly for good 😢. Shame as it’s a 1/7th deal. Bigger trips, enterprise car hire around the corner two weeks for one big ev monthly. just got to get past the no car outside to just use… consumerism got a good grip of us eh 🤣

Tested and working coding Octavia mk4
Self moderation is the key to happiness. The best reply is sometimes no reply at all. we’re all free to do what we want to do with our stuff. Why would someone buy a brand new car and take the engine out… because they can. warranty is just a risk assessment. Like any insurance. You do or do not tinker. Any manufacturer would have a hard time proving a light code change broke the transmission. Nissan tried it and lost, can’t find the reference now, 350z owner, massive warranty claim voided on unrelated change; many lost case, in the USA mind. so all that said, above all else we can and should remain civil in our replies. if we can’t, please don’t reply, self moderate for a few minutes. If after an hour you still feel the same, reply with civility. Thanks.

Cupra Born
Yep that’s what I am thinking. North of Manchester not many above 50. meganne e tech, might be a good alt from the few videos I’ve seen. was just told though, the batteries for this, and I guess by proxy other vag, are in Ukraine. So certainly for the born, manufacturing is paused. I can still place a deposit though I’ll wait thanks.

Cupra Born
Some more choices to consider. As you've been keen on keeping up to date with the award-winning CUPRA Born, we want you to have the opportunity to order the 58kWh 204PS model at the pre-April price of only £33,735*. Order from 22 March and before it goes on sale nationwide on 1 April at £34,715, for a saving of £980. And, depending on which trim you choose, you can save up to £2,445^. ev or transit van or keep the superb… dam my mind. it’s a distraction from scrolling and feeling totally powerless. how a few weeks changes the world. an old quote, whymper… remember a moments negligence can destroy the happiness of a lifetime. so true for so many moments in our lives.

Sold - Nokian WR A4 18” winter tyres - M+S marked.
Four Nokian WR A4 tyres in pretty good condition. previously used, although not by me. I paid £100 three years ago, stored since then. plenty of tread left ( can’t find my measure ) see photos. all stored in darkness and moved frequently; they are in my way. never got around to getting wheels, unlikely to now before I sell/swap. so pick up a bargain… literally… free to pick up from sheffield uk. A contribution to a charity would be nice, but in short I want them gone not dispatching on a courier unless you want to organise one & cover “packaging” etc.

the truth about electric cars
So I spent a bit of time today planning journeys based on a new Zoe. given there are almost no 100plus chargers north of Manchester (Zap-Map) buying/renting something with a 150 feels like a folly. In the sense you can’t use it that often. Granted the network improves monthly. im good for the lakes, wales from sheffield. Either a half hour stop on the way or the way back, or both gets me there and back. Cornwalls a bit trickier but doable around Penzance ie pop out for shopping, pastie, beer and it’s good to go. it’s only when I get to fort William and beyond I begin to get a little twitchy. still tempted as Renault have a 0% on atm and previous man maths all savings wiped out on pcp/pch charges. much to mull over as a diversion from other news.

How To: Heated Windscreen Retrofit
I use the heated steering wheel far more than I should. Poor circulation. I don’t mind scraping the windscreen, it is heated but I forget more than I remember. the heated wheel though, just perfect for cold or slight wet days so get it done not that I know how.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Eeep well I’m on 30miles left so it’s of to the petrol station for me too. I really want to keep her on 99. Or 97. Driving it like a granny seems daft. Economic but daft. I can’t bring myself to change for the sake of some big ticket fill ups. See today exon are doing a huge reinvestment in oil, 45%. As the price is rich enough to get a return… so I don’t think it’s coming down anytime soon.

Bike ride stats/Strava etc
I only time myself as I’m in competition with my former self. today I felt sluggish. Shaved five mins of a up and down loop, yay; no idea how. 2.35km, up and down 278m. but dagnamit five seconds more… I had that in the tank, and now I know, I’ll be back to 40min segments
