Dangerously close... maybe I'm more of a petrol head than I thought.
Yep, i think he's trying to convince me the power is the charge rate. I'm 99% sure its the one I tested for an hour one damp day... and the last chap; who left, was my trusted guy. Anyhow he didn't mention it was a rapid as we discussed the 50kw dc as a bit of a headache on a road trip. I recall this as the 1st edition was being rolled in and that also had the 50kw dc charge on a 50k+ version, prob 60k now used lol. In all honesty after another afternoon, albeit interesting, I was half reaching for my card to sign up for the new meganne. Seems to tick enough boxes, range, charge, driving, tech, boot, design in and out. Thank god I'm going to be offline for two weeks, my mind can get back to simpler things like where is my snack bar.

Well the petrol head says what ever goes fastest. either the zoe, pug or vax. If they work the enyaq surely does. or buy one and sell in two months for what I paid for it although my car buying is more like sailing in a sieve.

So this isn't a cheap approach, but it's more palatable than selling up and committing to an unknown path. https://on.to/electric-cars/ Basically rent one for a month, or two. Then I know. This was on the back of a car listed at 50KW dc the right bits of the pack, I can stomach the inflated price, it's 7k on the clock. Problem is sales guy is saying it's 132KW... Is there anyway to check, like opening the bonnet and seeing a 1.6 instead of a 2.0

Although I’d prefer the 208 design, more than 50KW charge… the moon on a stick too pls.

Very much seeing the Zoe as a definite choice. swmbo is on a gov lease. All her next choices are ev. They come on unlimited mileage, service. So much of this deliberation is a smoke screen for that choice. She wants a focus estate, or civic diesel of old type size and go. the Zoe would be the local kick about. Not sure how I’d be getting out at fort bill from sheffield. Not as refreshed as the superb for sure, but maybe better from the extra breaks. plus the Zoe is “sensible” money and Renault have proven the battery tech, management., plus 0%, plus stock… so I can scratch the impulsive itch.

@roottoot that was my gut, hence I was exploring the ‘rent’ it path on hp/pcp. @skomaz not sure they have. The only person I trusted has left. My bs meter was on alert when a 50KW charge car was listed as 132Kw, and I’d have no idea how to tell from the exterior of the car, unless there is a way? @classic I’m certainly inclined to own, empty the bank style purchase, run for x years till value is minimal. Definitely the way Iv’e done the last few ICE cars. Sure it’s painful on the day, but slowly the balance returns to the mystery account. When. Have enough I can own outright it gives you options. Scary options, but options. I really was HP/PCP as a way of renting past the tech/war bubble. Accepting it would cost more overall. But possibly less than a 5+year drop on tech cycle. I rarely go for the first release of anything, even in my vaguely skilled area of tech. Always wait for the point release or the second generation, it’s worth the wait. I felt I did that in the early ev days, now maybe a little late to the party, timing wise, with a brighter future options down the road… unless china goes for Taiwan in which case we’re all on shanks’ pony by year end and it’s all a paper exercise. Yeah I’m in a positive mood today 😛

I think with pcp, and lease, I’m super wary of fixing a mileage. The overage isn’t a huge amount but it will make a difference. Plus never been down this path and second, no idea how many miles I do. I could go through a phase of going to wales every weekend; 400mls Or Pembroke. Or not at all. A Scottish pop is a good 900. Not many of those and I blow the mythical caps, or have a huge cap and end up going nowhere after braking my leg or something daft. That’s life! if I can wrangle a 60, 132kw charge for nearer to list, I’d be tempted to skip pcp. Or put the order In and wait

Thanks for the detailed reply. I was much cruder in my calcs. even so, to get near mid 21/25mpg equiv you’d need to be launching full beans on every junction and using top price chargers. off peak is the sort of man maths number I was working on. Given the superb struggles to get to 20mins on local runs to the peak. Too many hills and stop start. I think it’s the idea that if you end up just in public charges the cost benefit in fuel terms alone isn’t that great. Not for the liquid to ev upfront cost difference. I wanted to put solar and a Tesla battery on the wall at home. Swmbo does not want roof panels. Ground is not even marginal where we are due to neighbours trees. thing is I really like the pug208 size, style. But don’t like anything about the platform for when out of town. Hehehe. so a 200+ range and more than 50kw is a base point. A few of the “stock” options fit that, or so they claim.

So I keep popping onto skoda, keep running the config... Then keep hitting the money bit... skoda finance is 2x volvos rate and a good bit more than ford... windscreen price, good value, total cost, 5k more evens things up a bit... Renault still holding on the 0%, doubt it will hold to the release of the meganne. Incidentally that xc40 recharge 400ps thing is bonkers, so comfortable, not actually driven it yet, dare not. So little range too, tiny boot too However one interesting post from a review on that particular model. If you drive it, and use it, then charge on ionity(?) big fat rapids on m-ways, it works out at an equivalent of 21mpg in petrol cars, before the price hikes of the last 6 months. I don't know the maths behind that, even my man maths find it hard to believe. So the key to this electric savings is the home charge, that makes sense. I can fit the xc40 on the drive as is, enyaq, no chance. SWMBO front garden is at risk! I've read so many posts and reviews suggesting the iv60 is fine for uk use. It totally is for my weekly, local needs. My weekend blat needs... 200+miles each way... little less convinced. Although I do look forward to the cat naps while charging. The few on forecourts now... dropping in price weekly, down 2k in 3 weeks some of them. Although they are the 50kwh capped recharge ones. Still compared to saved 80x sportline at release all way over priced, same model now is 10k more in a year and it's a year till you get it. I'm really, really tempted. But I have a perfectly good 3.5yr old 272ps superb sat outside, it's paid for and owes me nothing, goes well, quite well ;). Has a chance of making 40mpg if taken mostly steady, albeit at £2 a litre for 98/99. I'm really struggling to pony up the extra spend/finance for cheaper running, I can't square it, any "savings" get chewed up in finance, even at 20k down. I was toying of putting it on the company while bik rates are low, but it's still spending money I don't actually need to, to save a few hundred a month on liquid fuel. SWMBO keep reminding me I was only doing all this because it would be good for the planet; despite the while new car bad, I now feel like I'm being swept along by a hidden current... of my own dam making So, enyaq/worse case motorway recharging/near motorway/dual, whats the likely true running costs, i.e. away from home? I am missing something obvious on HP/pcp? (never done either before and I don't trust the snakeman pushing it) That said I don't trust buying one outright and hoping the tech curve/future value curves come out in my favour. A bit of me is saying this is now the worst time to 'switch'. IDK... paralysed by thinking about it, I miss my old impulsive self.

2022 crazy used market…
They value offered was about right, on bare metal ignoring all else. Eg my options are worth zero, theirs are worth 6k type of value. It’s the massive overage on approved used thats crazy Renault offered way more, it’s all about the cost to change of course and oddly I’m not necessarily after a newer model. But I’m dam sure I’m not handing the keys over for an older car and money. I use the valuation tools to get a value on the plate I’m thinking of. Basis that’s what it’s worth a week later if I had to distress sell it.

2022 crazy used market…
I think we all know now is a crazy market in the car industry. Seemingly not enough cars to sell, yet used lots well stocked. I was seriously tempted, for an impulsive buyer I was in the showroom … danger! So got a valuation for my superb ‘19 … 4k less than a car 2years older with as many miles of a lower spec on the forecourt, plus Superb > Octavia. The webuyanycar offer on the city was 7k lower than windshield… 7k… I know there needs to be a profit, but are they having a laugh? I cannot square the deal at the moment. The next nearest comparison is my sportline 4x4 272ps to a L&K 190PS diesel, comparable mileage & age… 10k difference. Pretty sure the l&k wasn’t 10k more when I was shopping three years ago... and scarcity… so few 272 superbs at all, ever It seems diesel still has a higher price, I’d of thought it might of taken a bit of a hit, not as desirable, but equally what I was looking at… diesel estate or mid van… still can’t quite see a suv outside, small or not. Crazy…

Bike ride stats/Strava etc
Can’t wait to get a lovely fresh baguette and good cheese. Off to Switzerland for two weeks climbing… so trying to get some fitness. Going over an old peak mountain biking book, pre-suspension, figure my gravel bike is at least comparable. one down. Some bridleways are seriously overgrown! day 2. never been to langsett on a bike. figured I’d finally do a bit of it. Better coming down I think Man the ride up the “snow road” into todays wind was a downer. The bridleways are deeply rutted, much carrying and walking today 😞. Guy on full Susp bike was impressed I’d come down the woodhead to dam bridleways bit on a gravel bike. My junk definitely wasn’t as impressed with my choice.

the truth about electric cars
must admit I’ve thought… just grab a diesel. diesel is most dense fuel, energy per whatever. I don’t do short trips <20mins. I don’t go into ulez that often if ever, and 600 a month gets a lot of fuel and ulez… we’ll not that much fuel… there are loads of diesels on the market. 8years from now bev will have worked, or it will of failed. idk. I really want to do electric. And if I didn’t have the long drive/random mileage (pcp/lease blocker) I’d of done it by now I think. Because I could home charge, that seems to be the pivot point. might just grab a second hand leaf, then use swmbo for out of county. Problem is when we go in different directions. really struggling to commit 40k plus to something with 250+ miles. Or make it 50k. Watching video reviews from less than 12mths ago is confusing. Volvos xc40recharge twin is at least a ton more per month now. I think there will be a pricing reset. Although the seat guy said never going to happen. Carwow investors may differ, discounts will be back.

Cupra Born
No the only thing on the v3 is the electric seats. Rather have the smaller alloys too. it’s not actually that much smaller 7pms narrower) than the enyaq. But a lot smaller in the boot etc.

Cupra Born
Na born in a month. Dealers putting orders in for models. Albeit at there own admission with options that offer little value like tech pack l and blue paint.

Cupra Born
Well finally went for a test drive Not a long one, like 20mins. In the v3 small 58 battery, no e-boost. Possibly the one I’d consider. Different to the enyaq in almost every way. The one thing I didn’t like was. The way to select ‘performance’ over ‘eco’, it was three screen taps. Far to many to deal with pre overtake opportunity, and crucially post. Superb, just tap it into sport off we go. Touch screens great, but the old physically button would be nice. I know the teslas you need to use the screen/mobile app to open a glove box… it’s bonkers, but all good for the bean counters. Surprisingly unthrashy on potholes and poor roads as we have up here in sheffield. An enyaq 60 and this are the same (near enough) on pcp. As much as I don’t want a SUV, the born isn’t that much smaller. Only 70cm narrower, lighter, bit shorter… but not a huge amount, yet boot is considerably smaller. Coming from the superb this is a thing Still 500 a month, 3k down 10k pa 48months. On paper I was pegging the superb at 400 a month; I paid cash but need to replace that pot… So it kind of makes sense. Plus I can get one in a month if I don’t want options

We can’t give you his details. However we do have them. We can share with legal / law as required. If you paid via PayPal guest you can raise a dispute with them. East to say in retrospect of course. ultimately there is little we can do to prevent fraud if indeed this turns out to be. He may equally of gone on holiday for two weeks… or longer. I know unlikely. Now I’m aware we can try a few things.

Someone had set an alarm for 5am… well dam I’m awake now. (They carried on sleeping). As it happens an hour later setting off and the sun had burnt most of the interest off. This could be good conditions for a brockenspectre…

Saw a good video on the new Renault Megane Electric. Vehicle to Load, 290 odd range in one form, a nice cabin space, looks promising. I might walk to the end of the road to look at the born, but the local garage haven’t got in touch yet about a look.
