  1. Bedrock in Wishaw do Jabba maps, this could be handy for you judging by your location. Neil
  2. Just wondered if any dealers or folks with inside knowledge have an idea when DAB radios will be available for the Octavia MK2. I will probably change my car around next March, but with analogue radio being gradually phased out and the Octy having (to my mind) a nicely integrated system, I would not want to be left with just having to listen to CD's. Trawling around various manufacturers sites, it seems very few of them are offering DAB sets as an option (BMW being the only one that sticks in my head). Looks like there will be an almighty rush for aftermarket units anytime soon. Neil
  3. That dreaded time of year is upon us - the arrival of the insurance renewal letter. Went with Highway through Chris Knotts last year, great price, about
  4. Decided to give Chathams a try after my fiasco with Newmarket Garage last year. Asked them to replace the drivers seat cover (fraying where the fabric meets the leather), replace the glovebox lock and sort a squeak from the trim around the dials. Went to collect it and they had replaced the seat cover (although the cable loom was hanging out the front of the seat and the centre console has a nice scratch on it), hadn't noticed that the lock was still to arrive at the garage and done nothing about the squeak. They were very full of apologies, but I am starting to get fed up with the whole Skoda dealer thing. Neil
  5. I'm pretty sure that if the traction control activates in my Octy it disengages cruise control. Seem to remember it happening when I hit a patch of standing water on the motorway. Neil
  6. I had a look at V50's a little while back and don't think they're worth the money. Interior seems really cramped and in the manual version there is no room for a rest for your clutch foot. This may sound trivial but it really put me off the car. Also Volvo servicing is very expensive, I had an old shape V40, first service at 6000 miles, basic oil and filter change - £204. That was about five years ago so God knows what they charge now.
  7. What about a Porsche 968 Club Sport, up to a 80 mile commute but reckoned to be the best handling car ever. Neil

Usually get car changing urges after about a year, but the only thing I can think to replace the Octy with is another Octy and I'm still not sure about the MK2. Neil

  10. Not for much longer they're not. Wasn't quick enough was I!
  11. Welcome to the site. How does the vRS compare to the X type? These are on my possible list for my next car. Neil

  13. I've had it done, cost around £200 at the stealers, looks 100% better. My only gripe was the dealer made a hash of fitting them (damaging a lot of the plastic trim etc) but I reckon it was well worth the money. Neil
  14. Hello, another member from central Scotland, I take it from your user name that you're Lithuanian!!! Neil
  15. I had a Picasso HDI Exclusive before the Octy, great car for what it was, no major problems and very, very comfy. Averaged around 42mpg around town, 51mpg on a long motorway run. The Exclusive has all the toys (auto climate, sunroof, alloys etc) and was an alright place to be. With only 90bhp it won't set the heather on fire but performance was adequate. The 110bhp 1.6 engine seems to be far better, but I think they have only been out a couple of years so maybe slightly over budget. Hope this helps Neil

  17. Hello, there's loads of scottish guys here, a lot of them use Star Performance in Kirkcaldy for performance mods. I used them for servicing, seemed good to me. Neil
  18. Would be easier if we knew where you were. I got mine serviced at Star Performance as I have a severe mistrust of dealers. Couldn't fault the work carried out or the cost. Neil
  19. Congratulations big man, best wishes to your better half and the bairn. Neil
