  1. I was on the M9 heading home on Friday afternoon, sitting happily around 0.8-0.9Leptons, safe distance behind an old Scorpio, came over the brow of a hill and this boy swerved into the inside lane and jammed on the brakes. I tell you I about had an accident in my trousers. Looked at the bridge over the motorway and lo and behold a scamera van. Don't know if I've been done yet, but if I had been much closer to the Scorpio I would have jammed on the brakes because of his manouver, which can cause the old motorway concertina effect. If I have been clocked, well fair enough, but what is a scamera van on a motorway at 1530 on a Friday for? Would it not have been better placed near a school?
  2. Looking at the graphs perhaps we should not complain too much, it shows petrol per litre to have approximately doubled since 1996, but crude oil prices have increased fivefold, someone must be absorbing these increased costs:confused: With regards to closing down the refinery, there are also a vast amount of petrochem plants owned by Ineos on the site, the refinery is a pretty small part overall. I do not believe they will shut down completely, I imagine they will leave as much "hot" stuff running if possible to ensure as speedy as possible a restart. I presume their figure of a month is to get the full plant up and running again and the refinery would be at full capacity within a week
  3. Dads first car was a 1968 MK1 Escort Deluxe in a fetching grey colour with red vinyl seats. His next one was an Avenger 1500 when they first came out. To be honest he's never owned anything very exciting which explains why he is now on his third Picasso:(
  4. I see what your saying with regard to signage (and to be fair had forgotten bikes get affected by the high winds) but the majority of high sided vehicles will be coming from M9, M8 or city bypass which are all pretty well served with matrix signs. Totally agree with the southbound signs, why then is there always a queue of trucks sitting in the layby before the bridge? Illiterate truck drivers perhaps:confused: Neil
  5. I've done 700 miles with my petrol vRS and for the first tankful got really poor average mpg. Reset the computer when I filled the tank and I'm now getting the average I would expect. I reckon the car had been sitting idling at the dealers, doing no miles but using fuel which is disastarous for the average 2 readings. I also wondered how much fuel was actually in the tank, was it "full" or really full:confused:
  6. I got 5.2%APR from Skoda Finance on a three year PCP which I thought was really good. For comparison BMW were charging approx 10% and Alfa Romeo over 11%.
  7. I believe that there is not a huge amount of refining capability for diesel, it's relatively recently that the amount of diesel cars in the UK has rocketed and the refiners have not been building new plants to meet demand. Having said that the refinery down the road is building a Bio diesel plant at the moment, perhaps more will be built for future needs.
  8. I got the registration documents through for the new vRS on Monday and the model name is VRS. On the mark 1 vRS the model name was RS, so Skoda UK must have changed the official name.
  9. I went from a black magic Octy1 vRS to a black magic Octy2 vRS.
  10. I started a thread asking who was getting a new car on 1st March but had no replies:( Anyway, got my Octy vRS TFSI in Black Magic, not that you would guess having a private plate.
  11. I looked at these a while back, I thought the interior space was pretty poor. The main thing that put me off was the lack of a footrest for the left foot, the clutch pedal is pretty tight to the tunnel. Also quite overpriced for what you get, they seem to charge premium prices without quite being a premium manufacturer.
  12. Anyone else collecting their new car on 1st March. I pick up my new Octy vRS TFSI, it's been a long wait, hope it's worth it.
  13. That don't make no sense, preview is your friend;)
  14. Welshy, johnwg's wife wants a Fabia1.4TDI Sport, her choice not yours. If this is what she wants why should you argue one way or another against her getting one. You think it is financially naive. So what, it's not your money. I buy brand new cars every two or three years, why, because I want to. I don't care about losing money on them, I can afford it. Get over yourself and let people do what they want to do. Neil
  15. Pick up my new car on the 1st March. We'll see a) How good the finish is from the showroom If good how long it stays that way!
  16. There was a wedding at the church in George Street on Saturday with the coolest wedding car ever. A white, original Beetle convertible with a set of minted chrome Fuchs alloys. Neil
  17. Cracking job guys, you'll get the shout when I need mine done. Neil

Scuderia Ecosse // Racing with Ferrari. Official Team Website.
  19. I got the charcoal carpets fitted by the local dealer, think it cost around £200 in total. Makes a huge difference, the car was just over a year old when I had it done and the silver carpets were already very tired looking, the dark one still looks pretty fresh after eighteen months.
  20. There used to be a chip shop on the beach at Marazion in Cornwall called Eager Ronnies, I thought it was hilarious.
  21. I'll keep my eyes open for a Fabia SE with 22" spinnaz. Wicked innit:D:D
  22. If I'm not mistaken that picture was taken at the retail park in Falkirk. There are some godawful heaps of dung going around here, that is quite mild really.
