  1. +1 for the software update. March 21 car, picked it up at 6 months old. Had SOS errors from the start. If there was one lingering when you turned the car on it couldn’t validate your profile and so you didn’t get anything on the MMB. Also GPS had me miles away from where we were on occasion. Update to latest software sorted everything. Has been weeks since with no issue. Been through classic part of m25 where SOS would arise and nothing. Can’t be done OTA but I think it enables future OTA updates I think (I could be wrong on that). Def do it.
  2. This is insane - I've been wondering where the SD slot referred to in all the documentation is; at no point does anything talk about OTA updates. So I'm on 270, I had an update download while driving (stopped when the car moved, but continued when we were in traffic. I now get a popup telling me to install an available update but when I click on the install button, it goes to engineering mode and then has nothing in the list of media to install from. If I'm reading the above right, I need to go to a dealer and get them to run the update so I can get the OTA updates working properly, is that right? And if they're not happy, raise a complaint with Skoda UK?
  3. Cheers Ian, good to know there is an updated version from 270 because it is dogsh**e. Life’s got in the way of chasing the dealer up but it’s getting to the top of my list of things to do especially with the recall on the engine cover letter coming through.
  4. Recently been getting a pop up for a software update. Have had these sporadically throughout ownership since Sept, but this time I pressed on download and, when we were stopped in traffic it would show a download indicator. I thought it was just for stuff like maps or the other apps through the shop, but now when I hold Menu and click on software download/version it goes into Engineering Mode. Looks a bit like this. When you follow the menu options to download there’s no option to. There are some other options for activation codes and something else. Otherwise i’m just left with the option of quitting Engineering mode and it reboots Columbus. So nothing gets done. Is this for the main software download/update rather than just maps/Skoda connect stuff? If so, what’s depressing is that I seem to have v270 which is fairly up to date and therefore all my woes won’t necessarily be resolved by a software update unless there’s a newer version.
  5. Maybe drop into conversation you can see the list of updates so they know it can be immediately checked.
  6. Best of luck with the research and…motions 😁
  7. Well - that's a shame but I'm sure it'll bring on the smiles again and looks an intriguing colour; got a reddish brown tinge to it in the light? Or is that just my eyes playing tricks? I like that, if so - interesting leftfield colours are always good to see. Best of luck with it and sorry it didn't work out in VAG. And obvs hope you weren't injured in the foray!
  8. If it works for you go for it; and completely respect what you do and don't choose to eat on rides or have around the house; I'm the same with snacking on junk. And honey is a naturally occuring by-product which should avoid a fair amount of processing, China aside. It's not a magic elixir. As a formulated recognised "diet" - doing a quick internet search reveals nothing that makes me think its got any particular substance over anything else. A dozen articles bordering on clickbaity straplines e.g. "can help you lose weight" (compared to what, doing nothing? eating pies?). Everything seems to be getting on for 10 years ago, which says to me there's been no buzz (pardon the pun) since then. Not sure what you meant about Chris Hoy - article up top says "it is said to be endorsed by Olympic gold-medal winning cyclist". That's vague as it is (said by whom?) but either way it's there to lend credibility and therefore improve sales. Example to back-up my point: https://www.hachette.co.uk/titles/mike-mcinnes/eat-sleep-and-slim-with-honey/9781444775921/ "Scientifically-backed" - according to who? (aside from the Daily Mail) "Honey has always been regarded as a food with almost magical, health-giving and healing properties" - No it hasn't "Just a spoonful of honey is all it takes to lose weight according to the sweetest, easiest diet - fall asleep and the weight will fall off" - a s reviewing statement on a website selling the book, this is borderline criminal. To make bold claims, you need a mountain of evidence. This lot above is tripe designed to bolster sales. Seriously, if it's working for you and you feel better for it, I'm genuinely supportive for you; but without proper data proving this as an isolated variable, it shouldn't be marketed as it is being.
  9. Gutted for you on this - you don't think you'll sort yourself out another with the payout?
  10. Carbs don't get any more complicated than the number of saccharide molecules they're made up from. Glucose, fructose, sucrose, maltose are all single molecule sugars and therefore very easy and quick for the gut to absorb; that's the whole issue about Glycaemic index - the speed at which something can be absorbed means it hits your blood stream quicker but then leaves your blood stream quicker and is converted to fat. Lower GI carb sources are either disaccharides (2 saccharides), oligosoccharides (3-6 ) or polysaccharides (greater than 7 saccharides) which are progressively more complex in structure and need to take time to break down. This diet doesn't make much sense where honey is used - you could do the same with Haribo, Wine gums, Fruit - anything that's made up of simple sugars. in fact, nutritionists would likely all advise not going to bed hungry as they are correct that sleep can be quite energy-intensive. Honey is seen as healthy but its no more natural than sugar cane - it doesn't get refined to within an inch of its life though and with all foods, the real evil is in the refining processes. As for Chris hoy endorsing it - it means he's heard it and doesn't disagree. I doubt anyone can remember the last time he needed to lose bodyfat (and I mean properly lose bodyfat, not the marginal pre-season toning that goes on in pro sports) so I can't see him having leant on the diet enough to swear by it without a payment being made somewhere along the line. He will have been coached and advised on nutrition in far too much depth to start being able to nail 'those 2 teaspoonfuls of sugar before bed' being the clincher to save the world's fattening population. Manuka Honey has an extract called Propolis I think which has supposedly been isolated as being the thing able to bolster your immune system but I think it's just another claim with insufficient science to back-up. Doesn't make it BS, there just isn't a reliable quantity of data to draw meaningful reliable scientific conclusions. Certainly not enough to justify the price tag. BUT - people will go with what they believe and live and let live on that one. Key take-aways from this: 1. Carbs are not inherently evil; we all need carbs for bodily functions to work properly and starving ourselves of that is not the way to live healthily (but that justifies brown rice/wholemeal pasta, not chip shops chips). 2. Sports recovery fuel is stated as a ratio of 4:1 carbs to protein i.e. for every gram of protein, you should be taking 4g of carbs. They both give approximately 4 calories per gram, so a classic after a workout would be 25 grams of protein, 100g of carbs, giving you 500 calories. Baked beans on brown toast is meant to be pretty good (don't give me that 'full of sugar' nonsense, that's part of the point) 3. Go for food with the least additives and processing if possible - 4. The saccharide complexity is key as is timing - doing a workout, get simple sugars in. I've done plenty of rides with a bag of jelly babies in the jersey pocket - couple of those every 5/10 mins is fine. 5. Celebrity endorsements are worth the bung, not the paper they're printed on.
  11. Mine's never done it either. Might be depending on which custom view is setup or something like that
  12. Jeez chaps - sold on these when the time comes. @JR RS - spotted the tyre change; are spacers needed to stop the 245s from rubbing internally? Or just aesthetically (very) pleasing?
  13. Another thing changed with facelift. MY21 always reverts to Normal upon startup. That’s everything. Lighting is white, gearbox in D, straight road indicator on digital dash - Normal profile. Even if I’ve started driving before the infotainment has finished loading me as user (which has taken 30mins before) - when it does, it resets everything to normal.
  14. https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/en-GB Someone linked to this once which is pretty useful. Put in your VIN and it'll give you the update. I seem to get this - might be the same thing? (Otherwise might just be a map update...) Either way, yeah the fundamental is the MIB3 system is dogs**t and needs a fair amount of work/complete overhaul. I get the same non-loading of the profile, loading of profile settings ages after seemingly accepting my PIN, not necessary putting seat to my position whether it does or doesn't recognise its me. The lies things is annoying but as long as you haven't paid for anything, there's probably little recourse for the strife. Could take it to another dealer, talk about how the last place strung you along (shows you do your research) and some BS about you're looking for someone to restore your faith in the brand etc. Maybe make sure that isn't to another dealer in the same franchise...
  15. Oh well - either way, I’m Donald ducked on this topic. Cheers JR
  16. Lashes lit up. Dynamic Light Assist, not Smart Light Assist or High Beam Assist. Only observable sticker is the one with D at the end.
  17. Yes they light up. Tbh are there any top of the range superbs that don’t? Edit: and I’m not JUST being belligerent. There was only one sticker I could see. Had exactly the same part number but with D. I’ll have another look in the daytime but the top of the unit looks flush with the chassis so I can’t be assed to start taking bits apart. either way I’ve seen the lashes lit up
  18. Well the only stickers I can find on my headlights end in D, not A or B.
  19. Exactly the best reasons for forums. If it’s not from the pothole it could inadvertently tell you your alignment is out
  20. This is from the Superb 3 tried and tested thread: “Increased sensitivity of the throttle pedal Controller 01- Engine 07 - Coding Byte 0, Bit 0-2, Change from Škoda (01) to AUDI (02) this will dramatically reduce lag on pressing accelerator pedal. If like me and many other owners you think the std throttle response is pretty dead, then this will dramatically change the way the car drives, the power is now instant just like on other cars. IMO this is the best free mod you can do!” I did it the other day. No errors, just removes the lack of response on the throttle pedal, most noticeable in ECO profile.
  21. Tried a few bits and came a cropper on a few: Fog lights as coming home lights, doesn’t include dry and eyelashes. Also, the xenon’s give a flash which I’m not overly keen on. Have spotted I didn’t include eyelashes always on so maybe worth doing that to see if it works. Automatically changing clocks to dst didn’t seem to work. Both setting to Europe and Auto both disabled the menu tick (ticked but non-responsive) but the clock went back an hour so permanently wrong. Enabling fan speed on auto mode - guide states changing bit 6 from 01 to 41 but Bit 6 on mine was 0D so wasn’t sure what’s changed but would rather not muck about with that. Changing the interior colour - seems there is a channel for each colour(1-10 and 11-30) and hue(rgb) to amend, but I also noticed an additional channel for each hue with “lin” in the title. I changed the blue and green for colour 2 (seemed to be the colour for Comfort mode, although not the second colour in the palette so good knows what order they’re in) and the colour just became inactive until I put the numbers back to original. Was in a bit of a rush so couldn’t be as systematic as I wanted but wonder if I need to change the “lin” channel value too. Otherwise not sure what’s not working.
  22. You can slightly move the steering wheel too. Or on cars with ACC, radar triggers the car in front moving off and starts the engine.
