  1. Re the hot tar being poured to seal the edges. I seem to remember something about cyclists complaining that it was slippy to ride on. Might be a reason they stopped using it. All I know is it was a massive pothole that I hit that threw me arse over tit requiring a bone graft and screws to stop my left arm dislocating at random and nothing to do with hot tar sealing.
  2. Just the Daily Mail's anti EV agenda on display again. Note how the article bears no relation whatsoever to the alarmist headline. Seriously, the DM just rots your brain. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13212177/Heavier-electric-cars-blamed-16-billion-cost-Britains-pothole-plague-crumbling-roads-reach-breaking-point.html
  3. Is it trying to be a WWI battleship?
  4. Bloody hell 😳 186mph in under ten seconds is crazy quick. That's top fuel drag car territory. It'll probably do it only once or twice per charge but still.
  5. Hmmm. I think that's going to be one for personal taste but I'm not keen tbh. It's shiny though. No getting away from that.
  6. There were a couple of pygmy goats at a garden centre we used to go to. I'd go and watch them arseing around or give them a scratch while SWMBOS looked at fuchsias or rhododendrons and the other crap garden centres sell nowadays.
  7. ICE vehicles will still be getting sold in the EU up to 2035 so 'in the next few years' is still over a decade away. Even after 2035, new ICE vehicles will still be getting sold as long as the engine can run on what's known as 'e-fuels' which are carbon neutral. And even then you'll still be able to buy ICE vehicles on the used market. Nobody's forcing people to buy new EVs currently or used ICE vehicles in the future. What the taxation and duty will look like on fossil fuels remains an unknown. https://www.sae.org/news/2023/03/european-ice-ban#:~:text=The EU agreed to permit,'
  8. What you planning on doing to it, David? (forgive me if you've said and I missed it)
  9. If there's no physical damage to the floorpan then you can probably go ahead and use some Hammerite Underbody Sealant or CarPlan 'Tetroseal' to cover over what's been damaged/ removed.
  10. I should have added in my post that the cambelt cover is removed and the belt is inspected for signs of wear/ cracking/ fraying at each service. Well, at least that's what I was told.
  11. I took my 2015 Rapid for a service last month and enquired about the cambelt change and I was told it's not due until 220,000Km or 2032!
  12. Hard agree. The market's flooded with EV SUVs - we're in danger of being flooded with cheap city EV's from the East IMO with their low labour and build costs.
  13. It helps if you can get them to actually vote for it.
  14. As title. More in link https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/press-releases/electric-mobility-entry-level-bev-will-be-skoda-epiq/?utm_source=x
  15. I'll try and catch up tomorrow but FWIW I've never payed full price for a brand new car as I've never bought one but I always buy my cars outright from day one with cash money . HPs always been a scam as far as I can tell. Nowt for nowt usually though there may be exceptions I'm unaware of though HP may suit some people and there are different and sometimes good deals to be had which may suit some people.

  18. Test. Not on a mobile.
  19. Energy cannot be created or destroyed only changed from one form to another as you're probably aware and what I believe you are saying.
  20. Lots of things have been suffixed with 'Turbo' since as far back as the 80's when they began to become more common on cars. Turbo oven cleaners, Turbo washing machines etc etc.
  21. One thing I don't miss is people pulling up at a pump, putting in 20 quids worth of fuel, then going inside to do what seems like a weeks shop whilst they leave their car at the pump.
  22. lol It seems traffic calming measures are popular and effective but Sunak didn't like the results https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/mar/08/low-traffic-neighbourhoods-generally-popular-report-ordered-by-sunak-finds lol #2 ULEZ helped London cut pollution faster than the rest of the UK https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2024/mar/08/sadiq-khan-hails-remarkable-progress-in-improving-london-air-quality?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other
