  1. Try banging on the door near the handle lock area while using the remote to unlock. If you use the search function there have been threads on it, when you get it open disconnect the electrical connection going to the door and any of the others if they are playing up.
  2. Have you read the water ingress thread and checked for water under the carpet, do the interior lights work, any other electrical issues? If not, do that and sort out the pollen filter housing seal, if its been wet for long there will be corrosion in the wiring connections. If all is dry then the problem could be the lock module, search for dry solder joints & microswitches failing in Passat B5.5 or Superb 3U4, there are some good videos on YouTube showing how it can be repaired or just buy the whole lock assembly. Three of my doors failed this way, I disconnected power to the door by unplugging the wiring going to the doors. I locked and unlocked them manually until I had time to address it, still have the back two to do, mine were on the blink for a while so I had warning that they were failing, eventually they will fail in the closed position and then its a bigger problem.
  3. "Yours will be the only Superb MK1 in history not to leak then" You have to lift the carpet or at least remove the floor air vent under both front seats and get your hand in there to check for damp, they can hold litres of water undeneath and the carpet could be dry to touch. As Jim says above the leaks may have been fixed but the corrosion not sorted, to be honest if it is really clean around the pollen filter it would be a flag that someone has been in there recently. As per the previous post read the water ingress thread start to finish, lots of people have dismissed it to their cost believing the issue to originate some where else.
  4. +1 for water ingress, read the thread at the top of page from start to finish, impossible to say how expensive it will depend on how long the water has been there. If you are equipped to tackle the work yourself then it will drop the cost but it is time consuming work so prohibitive if you are paying dealership labour prices. If you are keeping the car do it once and fix it right don't bodge it, there are great how to instructions in the thread, search is your friend.
  5. What caused the alignment issue, was it the correct pulley?
  6. Have you replaced the drive belt tensioner, if its original could be on its last legs and possible collateral damage from the seized alt pulley. Crankshaft balancer/harmonic balancer possibly separating with age/wear. Hope you get it sorted let us know how you get on.
  7. The transmission control unit is under the carpet, check for damp under the carpet front and back on both sides of the car theses cars leak like a sieve. If you haven't done so already read the water ingress thread at the top of the page from start to finish, it will serve you well. Search function is your friend you will get lots of hits like this one same engine as yours too!
  8. Nackuk, what length of time and mileage did that clutch pulley last and what brand was it? Are you still on the original alternator?
  9. Ben, don't wait to reseal the pollen filter housing if it still has the original open foam seal or has had a bodge job repair done, check underneath the carpet front and back on both sides for damp and read the water ingress thread at the top of the page from start to finish it will be time well spent, all of these cars leak water in just a matter of time. SMF I have an auto so not sure, but have seen some discussion on increased vibration after replacing the DMF so if you can source one at the right money then sticking with the DMF might be the way to go, Rotodiesel has same spec he would be a good source for info. Gates, Contitech on the timing belt stuff just do it all when your in there, you can get complete kits including tensioner, time wise it could be left for awhile, the interval is (4years/60k). Aux belt tensioner, AC tensioner and Clutch pulley: INA are a good brand Have a look on some of the VW Passat forums for more info around the clutch, DMF issue for the best solution it has gotten very quiet in here the last year or so.
  10. "Also inside light not working and soonroof also not working" This points to a water ingress issue, read that thread from start to finish there is a lot of good info in there, these cars leak water in from multiple points its just a matter of time. Check for rotten corroded wiring from the plugs at the A pillar passenger side and work down along the wiring from there, unwrap the wiring to visually inspect each individual wire along its length. The thread will have all the info and pictures.
  11. Could be a corrosion issue in the wiring loom or plugs any other strange electrical issues? Have you checked under the carpet both sides front and back for damp? Check the water ingress thread stickered at the top of the page. The chances of all 4 windows failing at the same time are pretty low.
  12. +1 vacuum line off at the back of the engine, check the hard plastic lines and the rubber hose, sometimes they wear through if they are rubbing on the engine cover or other part, but if it happened directly after the car was worked on then it would indicate a line not reconnected.
  13. Read the water ingress thread sticky at the top of the page from start to finish all of these cars let in water, dry out the car thoroughly, there will be a lot of water in there and if the car is 11-12 years old and the fix was never done or done poorly then the car has been wet for a long time so the wiring/multiplugs will have corrosion as jimbof says above, do a proper job or it will be an ongoing nightmare.
  14. Switch the lights off, disconnect the battery.
  15. Check both sides front and back under the carpet for dampness those issues could be related to corrosion in the wiring and/or damage to the TCM.
  16. As above, bumper off (look for an excellent guide in search) change both at the same time, for best results recondition the lenses and have the lights focused using the correct equipment, must be put in reference position using the VCDS then adjusted as needed, they are excellent when properly set up!
  17. 2000 1.6 AKL Petrol, 286,377 miles, original clutch, gearbox, engine, rebuilt the alternator twice, a few window regulators, other than that usual consumables brakes, timing belts etc. Have had to retire it this year with the 15 year old insurance loading it is not saleable, its a pity the car is running great has been a great workhorse.
  18. The actuator test sequence is on the second page, all actuators are exercised follow the instructions and do not interrupt the test. http://www.saunalahti.fi/~jues/Climatronic_Self_Diagnostics.pdf
  19. The dealers sell the insert at reasonable money decent quality
  20. Has there been any acknowledgement of the problem from Skoda/VAG, what are the years, engines, gearboxes affected by this? Another scandal in the making, surely the clutch manufacturer SACHS will be made to cover the costs of this back to Skoda, they don't need any more bad press given their record of the past couple of years! There has got to be a lot cars out there with this configuration just a matter of time before they fail, just like the water ingress in the Mark 1!
  21. If you are sick of the beep just take the fuse out
  22. Other sites of water entry, door carriers same sealing issues as the pollen filter housing check for water under carpet front and rear left and right, if you have a sunroof pinch the sunroof drain nipples in the front door jambs, I snipped a few mm off the end of them and they have stayed free since then, just test all the four drains to make sure there are not blocked. Its a pain to do it, so do a good complete job on it and it will be sorted, let us know how the door lock works out, I am down to one working from 4, opening the others manually.
  23. Do yourself a favour and read the sticky thread at the top of the Superb 1 section from beginning to end it is an invaluable resource lots of your answers will be there, pretty much everyone on here has been through this mess as they all leak sooner or later. Hairdryer, dehumidifier you will get it dry eventually, dry it from underneath otherwise it will smell, mould etc. A good tip too is to run the climate on auto so that the AC runs too (provided outside temp is 5C or higher) and it will help dry things out. I used a 3M mastic tape type seal comes in a roll (similar to what the dealers have from the repair Bulletin), makes a good seal and is easier to apply.
  24. Do you have rims for the smaller tyre, 16 inch tyres will not fit 17 inch rims
  25. As Milan says there is a rocker switch on the end of the wiper stalk that scrolls through the display, choice of approx 6 variables displayed.
