  1. I’d go with one of these from that list.. ( or just go straight to a furby.) I don’t know about the insurance but as a learner car they are ideal. Easy to drive, basic enough to really learn the art of driving as not many driving aids, not enough power to get in any real trouble, but will buzz along at motorway speeds too. Like learning how to drive race cars starting out in go-karts. Cheap to run. Cabin is roomy enough for the size of the car, just the boot isn’t very big. We bought missus Mac’s as an ex demo and kept it for 7yrs… Pass test, then upgrade to a furby.
  2. Missus Mac is on her second DSG Arona. I’ve driven a bit, it’s not terrible, though the lag from stamping one’s foot to the box kicking down to pull away can be a tad long. But… knock it over into semi auto and prime it yourself to hold the revs where you want and it’s fine. My only gripe is my brain says if your accelerating you should be pulling the lever back to change up not pushing forward against the vehicles “g-force”. Other than that I’ve no issue with autos, May even get one next myself. Missus mac will never go back to a manual, in fact 6months after buying the first auto she was driving my car for the first time again and she pulled in after 2 miles, told me I could drive, she’d rather feel a bit car sick as a passenger than be arsed with remembering how to do gear changing. Horses for courses eh?
  3. Because it’s a circuit with wiring nearby the 12v socket which is on a switched live. By wiring it as he did it’s put the switches fuse wiring into series on the 12v permanent live, which because it’s in series, now makes the 12v socket also a switched live. Because his car doesn’t have heated seats it meant the circuit wasn’t being used so it also made it suitable for use.
  4. If it’s the bearing, you find the noise is worst at a certain speed and multiples/ fractions of that, and then quietens a bit in between. Eg, if the noise is loudest at 50mph, it will also be relatively loud at 25mph and 100mph (hard to test that) Or 20, 40, 80mph. Reason being the frequency of the drone resonates through the bearing into the hub and chassis. If it’s tyre related i expect it to change pitch depending on speed. Other possibility is it’s part of t a wheel arch liner or trim piece that’s loose, and the airflow above 50mph is enough force to push it out and rub on the tyre or road. Might not be noticeable looking at the car when it’s stopped. I remember it took me ages to figure what a weird rubbing noise was on my old cordoba, turned out it was the under tray was loose and hitting the road at 54mph. Stationary it tucked itself back up out of the way. Drove me nuts for about a week until enough sandpapering on the asphalt wore it away enough to hang loose enough that I copped it.
  5. Morning and welcome along Lee!
  6. I remember getting one for my mk1 octy, from the main dealer. Even the parts dept manager (also my “Indy mechanic” outside work hours) was looking at it like wtf kinda bulb is that?! He only charged me about 5quid at the time in 2014.
  7. Ooooo fresh site sponsor! Well done @fa-callum 👍🏻

Hi Alison, Welcome to Briskoda. There’s a good number of Scots already here, so you should find your neighbours fairly easily 🙃
  9. @Breezy_Pete you are inadequately tagged above 😉 But.. have you checked the reluctor rings on the hubs? They often fail or could be misaligned after your brake replacement, so it may not be the controller.
  10. Hello everyone, I'm hopeless with computers, but a pretty good mechanic on (old) mopeds. I need your help. I wanted to see my phone screen on my radio. I displayed the SmartLink function on the screen using VCDS, but that's where it stops. The AI only tells me to search for version MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0361T. Could someone tell me more? Thank you. Please use a translation tool to English for posting as that is the standard language on this site, thanks. @pab567 is our resident guru for your query
  11. @Dean Could you check is this a glitch? Gould have the check box lower right Of each attachment frame
  12. @NorfolkBluenose I had a better guide in this thread.
  13. Congratulations @Lee01 ! You win…… nothing 🤣 have a shiny trophy emoji 🏆
  14. Hi Jimmy, Welcome to the forum! Hopefully you’ll get an idea on what happening with the touchscreen and be able to get it sorted 👍🏻
  15. So, rather than pi55 people off by making non posts on ancient threads to get your count up, go back to the hello section and say hi to some fellow new members. Or float over to the social zones where you chit chat about life the universe and the number 42 until you get you pm access enabled.
  16. My missus is on her second 🤣 I don’t disagree, it is a bit under powered but it’s ideal for the driving she does 90% of the time
  17. The Sandero? I’ve not been inside one, but I can’t imagine it being much alright…
  18. I reckon an Arona Or a sandero cross over thingy … Stepway?
  19. Good morning, And welcome to Briskoda. Hopefully you will be able to learn some stuff from around the forum 👍🏻
  20. You can try and it might work. It depends on if it’s just gummed up or mechanically just failing. But essentially it’s sticking open so your getting more “air” in the chamber than the maf is metering in when you lift off after a long consistent run. So the ECU thinks it’s a maf problem. If you search my username and egr you’ll find my symptom development guide I did up. In the end I had mine blanked off and mapped out for 20% the cost replacing.
  21. Yup! Exact same early days symptoms of a sticking egr
  22. Good morning and welcome to Briskoda. Please note the standard language as per the site rules is English. You can use an online translation tool to do this if it’s not your first language 👍🏻 Guten Morgen und herzlich willkommen bei Briskoda. 23. @poulter Just to note that the mod, admin, and site owner doesn’t take kindly to using the site for free company advertising. I note they’ve removed the corporate hyperlink since this morning. From prior experience watching this happen that’s a gentle first step to remind new members that unsolicited advertising is against the rules. next couple of steps tend to involve the ban stick… If you want to become a site sponsor then I’m sure a little advertising space might be available 😊
