the truth about electric cars
I dunno, but I’d say it may have more to do with a certain “B” word leading to government decisions on trying to keep foreign procurement within the EU Zone. I know it’s caused us several pains in the arse with tendering for equipment and services that get awarded to UK suppliers. Even down to stupid stuff like the D&A urine test kits our CMO and random/post incident screening service use. Ended up with dozens of us having to be recalled for repeat testing because the samples being held in storage while a paperwork snafu - who’s paying the customs, us or the supplier? (Ultimately us, but directly or via the supplier on a re-charge..) - went on so long the samples were deemed compromised.

the truth about electric cars
Imagine the flow of electrons as the same as water in a pipe - you push water in one end and the water in the pipe already gets shoved out the other end “instantly” bringing water to you flowers, or electricity to a light bulb, but it isn’t really instant. We are getting closer to our own French interconnector being ready, but it’s going to cause chaos with all those French speaking electrons mixing into our native English/Irish grid electrons. I really hope my toaster is able to translate!

the truth about electric cars
But as @Aspman has discovered, those cheap night rate ones are the wrong type of electron for some batteries 😂😂

New owner impressions and some questions
Mine is Present but blanked out and ECU coded to not look for it. You may be alright if the maf was historical. Hopefully it was and stays like that..

Is the worst thing about EVs actually the apps?
…. So cheap electricity is now being treated like 87ron versus 99ron super unleaded? You need more expensive electrons? 🤣🤣

the truth about electric cars
You have made several repeated comments that have led me to the belief you don’t accept climate change as being real, nor that the consequences are real. And facts are facts - vehicle emissions are a major part of the global co2 issue, so you comment about tailpipe emissions very much ties to that same view 🤷🏻♂️

Mk 2 octavia Vrs future classic
I don’t think so tbh. The mk1 has a better chance, as the original of the species, but even then I reckon only the WRC version will be really valued- only 100 of them, and check the register.. a lot are now bean tins.. Have to remember what these cars are to most people who know about them - VW’s reheated leftovers from old Golf GTI’s. I’m not slagging them off, I think they are great and just wish I could find a few in my budget to justify the change, but… they are most likely never going to get much traction (lol ) as a classic outside a very select few.

the truth about electric cars
I see you’re still not accepting of the reality of climate change… you need to read and accept the cookies from a few more sources so your algorithms stop pipelining your viewing recommendations. ( just a friendly suggestion) IF the EU policy is changed, then it won’t be because of your reason. It will be because of the reality that no country has the grid capacity or generation capacity in place or possibly in place to supply the electricity needed for majority EV private vehicles to be on the road by 2030, and continuing with the push to that deadline wasn’t feasible. For it to become possible, we all need to accept that nuclear power is clean and safe. And there are modular designs that use much less fuel and produce a lot less waste than the stuff everyone thinks of from the 50’s/60’s (which were only pushed as the main design because it produced byproducts suitable for weapons…) Renewable does need investment too, but it can’t cover everything unfortunately. Fusion in my lifetime would be the ultimate game changer…

vRS Drag Race
Given the power gap from the mk1’s up to the new ones, and let’s face, a mk1 octy/ furby is now a min 20/21 yrs old, finding a couple of actually unaltered, and running clean and well ones was probably a challenge. So they were never gonna be giving much newer stuff a real run. Even losing 1 horse a year they were gonna be down a good bit. That said, I do think they both did incredibly well!

New owner impressions and some questions
Fingers crossed, but keep an eye on it. Esp with those implausible maf readings. That’s stage one of a sticking egr too, which is incredibly common on the 1.6 cayc engine.. had mine deleted (blanked and mapped out) last January

New owner impressions and some questions
If it’s giving you a flashing glow plug light but no drop in power , It’s the egr starting to fail… It will get progressively more symptomatic. I did a detailed descriptor in the guides section for diagnosing. An elm327 bt dongle with torquepro app Or a carista dongle and app would be my recommendation.

the truth about electric cars
I’m not trawling through pages of bickering again, but… ffs stop the personal insults and keep it between the topic rails so mods don’t need to be told to start banging yer virtual skulls together.. again 👍🏻 It’s meant to discuss the realities of living with an EV… try and keep it there?

Cornering Performance Help
What type of blow off valve have you fitted? In terms of cornering etc, coilovers might help a smidge but Jesus don’t buy cheap ones and be very Very careful about exactly what ones you get. The RARB, upgraded front arb and a front strut brace if not already on it are also good to stiffen the whole chassis up.

70mph drone
Does it only happen at the revs equal to 70mph in 6th? Or only at 70mph regardless of gear? Ie - does 70mph in 5th produce the same drone, or (guesstimating) does it come in at “2500rpm” in other other gears regardless of speed?

Quiet Forum :(
I think a bit part of the change in activity comes down to a couple of things . Firstly “social media” so fb groups are “easier” to join and more “modern” than old style bulletin boards. Esp for younger folk who have grown up on fb etc. Secondly, less and less folk are willing or able to work on their own cars so are less likely to look for help or guides on sorting issues themselves that they aren’t finding owners forums anymore. And thirdly, compared to when the forum started, so many more people have their new cars on lease or pcp or even second hand models bought from dealers on finance that then offer service plans and extended warranties into the deal that again - have a problem? Ring the dealer not turn to Google for a diy solution. The above being said, Brisky is still a relatively active forum, compared to some of the others around the net this place is like a London Underground stop at 845am. There is also still a nice steady flow of new members joining to counteract the number of members who sign off one day and don’t come back for… years… 😉
