  1. Also, I’ve found Carista dongle and the app pretty good, just pay for the 12 month subscription and it’s not that expensive
  2. Regen doesn’t just happen at high revs or hot engine, it’s during a set of parameters. I have a 1.6 cayc diesel Octavia and for carista to force start a regen you need to keep - Engine warm, Min 1/4 tank fuel Speed above 60kph Revs 2000 - 2500 In my car (5speed manual) this is 4th gear at 90kph or 55mph. Duration of the above up to 20mins, then some cool down time, but generally about 9mins will put the DPF light back off. I imagine your will be similar, it you bead a good stretch of clear road where you won’t be changing gears or speed much - a nice dual carriage way.
  3. Good morning and welcome to Briskoda. There’s a few German members floating around, and @Lee01 is a Brit living there too. Superbs are amazingly massive. Test drive one a few yrs ago, I just couldn’t afford it at the time and the one I was driving that was in budget had already been sold. Sales guy was doing me a favour letting me take it for a spin anyway, to get a feel for the model.
  4. Morning Lo_Hi, Welcome to the forums! 8 yrs with a Citigo is how long we had my wife’s one aswell. I loved that little gokart of a car 🤣 drive it anyway you wanted and it never complained, just buzzed along. Live-withable niggles seem to form part of Skoda’s design ethos 🤣 Little things that aren’t bad enough to turn you against the car overall. Unlike other brands where those little niggles can make you want to burn it out.
  5. Mk 1 Octavia was the same, only blade that would fit and actually wipe the rear window properly could only be gotten at the dealer, due to the curve needed to match the glass profile. All the others would miss half the swept area 🤦🏼‍♂️
  6. As above, is it a 2013 mk3 or a 2003 mk1? There’s… a lot.. of differences 🤔
  7. Tbh, this doesn’t surprise me. Mrs Mac’s Arona went for servicing yesterday at the VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda dealership she bought it from. They gave her a courtesy car - Brand new Cupra Leon 1.5l 150bhp dsg. I think a hybrid, but didn’t get to see it as I was gone to work, and she was returning it again before I got home. Sticker price - 45 grand. For a Leon hatchback. That’s insane money, I don’t even want to think about A3 equivalent’s price tag. So why wouldn’t people look to Chinese brands when the majority see a car as no different to a washing machine purchase?
  8. Must add it to the main guide as an optional course if action in a pinch 🤣
  9. Welcome along Andy 👋 It’s amazing how we can suddenly get used to a convenience we previously shunned 🤣 My wife’s car and previous are both autos and I have to say… it’s lazy comfort to pootle along without bothering with gears or a 3rd pedal in traffic!
  10. Mk4 golf - PQ34 Mk1 octy - PQ34 Mk5 golf - PQ35 Mk2 Octy - PQ35 Evolution, not replacement: PQ35 was not a complete redesign from PQ34, but rather a significant advancement As I said a modified (heavily) version of the PQ34 👍🏻😉 What I actually got wrong was the mk5, which I got the timing wrong for, I couldn’t remember off the top of my head if MQB was out for mk5 or mk6
  11. /\ this. You can also just full lock the steering to each side to reset the pad light before driving off.
  12. No one has actually said why it’s happening - The car wiring is designed for normal halogen bulbs. and so an amount of current leaks through all the time which but doesn’t affect the halogens as it gets blocked by the filament resistance in the bulb. LEDs use a fraction of the power, With a fraction of resistance so then the current leaks through it illuminates the bulbs. For them to work properly there needs to be a resistor pack built into the bulb strong enough to block that residual power flow. The ones you got don’t do this properly.
  13. It’s a rite of passage. I did the exact same thing assuming tighter was better..
  14. As what Dean said, BUT!!!!!!! Count how many of the grooves are visible to make sure you put the cable back in exactly the right spot. Otherwise the tension won’t be correct and the lock won’t open. Do not close the door until you tested it successfully at least a dozen times, using a screwdriver to close the latch with the door open.

You did nothing wrong @yetitwins In fact you followed the guidelines perfectly 👍🏻 Hopefully someone will have advice for you soon 🤞🏻

You do realise the last post was only 3 yrs ago, not 7, and the age of the post is irrelevant if it’s about a topic someone (a new member, so that’s a warm welcome, laughing at them...) has searched and may be able to get help from?
  17. I thought that too, but wasn’t getting any hits on Google even with spelling changes. Tried it with vignette (which I remembered from ooooold chat about the windscreen clip 😂) and got hits about the nav settings 🤷🏻‍♂️
  18. It’s saying “Attention vignette required” which is a message that you may have to pay a toll. The car doesn’t know you have an annual pass. Go into the settings for the navigation and there’s an option to turn it off. https://www.vwidtalk.com/threads/turning-off-the-%E2%80%9Cattention-toll-road-ahead%E2%80%9D-announcement.8977/
  19. Morning Andy! Sometimes a car gets into your soul in spite of its niggles and flaws. Sometimes a car gets under your skin like a tick because of its niggles and flaws. 🤣 we’ve all been there, on both sides of the coin toss. My current mk2 is getting on now but I can’t find anything to justify replacing it with, despite its creaks, rattles, etc. The thing it replaced (1st gen Inshi7nia) was fancier looking, had way more torque and power, as many toys etc. but its list of niggles made me hate it by the time it died on me, and I wasn’t sad about it, just annoyed at the financial implications.. Keep on bussing on in the wagon chief 👍🏻
  20. Morning! And welcome to Briskoda properly. Glad the site was able to help you out!
  21. Evening, welcome to the forum! Have a search on the mk3 octy section or post up a new thread to ask about the issue and you should get a decent response 👍🏻
  22. Hi Penfold, How’s Danger Mouse these days? 😉 glad the aite has helped you out before joining, imagine how helpful it will be when you ask questions! 😂
  23. I’ll be watching this later on, but… wwwhhhhaaaaat???? I thought your kids would be trying to figure out who was gonna be getting Rusty on which weekends in a few decades.
