Good to see that this isn't solely my issue. Living semi-rurally means that I travel affected roads pretty much daily. I've even found a stretch where the limit varies between 20, 30 & 60 in one direction but maintains a steady 30 in the other. The latest from Skoda is that the workshop didn't test the specific issue after applying the "fix", because it would have meant driving five minutes out of town. For a bonus laugh, it turns out they're one of the many service centres who don't sell vehicles. As such they have one Skoda trained technician, who promptly went sick. Skoda UK have shown zero interest in progressing this beyond waiting for him to return to work. They also have no idea about what's caused the instrument illumination to fix at max. ☹️

Those that have the 1.0 TSI all seem to be happy enough with them. I bought the 1.5 simply because the difference in fuel consumption was so small. So it made sense to me to go for the more powerful option, given the size of the car. How old is the car & is it a Skoda dealership? If it's outside the original three year warranty then I'd say buying from an approved dealer is essential. While I'm not aware of any specific infotainment issues, there are a number of others that really need to be covered. But that probably applies to most modern cars, given the complexity of the electronics & reliance on software combined, with manufacturer cost cutting. An example being LED lights which should easily outlast the life of the car. But Skoda have managed to produce LED indicators built into the headlight, that cost around £1k to replace. My car was new in June 25 & in December, the speed limit detection stopped working properly. Here we are nine months later & they're still unable to fix it.

What is the reason for choosing diesel & 4x4? What will your usage look like in terms of weekly usage? As @thamestrader has already alluded to, an elderly diesel with questionable usage could have all manner of issues just waiting to bit you on the *rse. Also note that the car will be too old to take Skoda's All-in service/warranty when the initial warranty has expired. There's quite a lot of relatively common faults like door locks, electric boot struts, leaking sunroof (if it hasn't been well maintained), fuel flaps, etc. together with the DSG & 4 x 4 system that you ideally would want covered. 19" wheels are prone to damage & many find the ride too compromised on the low profile tyres.

Try a factory reset of the infotainment & it should prompt you to set up from scratch. It's a PITA though as you'll lose all your setting, including radio stations & stored destinations in the SatNav. As for the secret solution sent to a dealer, I went through this recently for a different issue & the "fix" didn't work. At least it was covered by warranty. I wouldn't entertain writing the blank cheque being suggested to you.

What version do you have? Mine is on 0519 & doesn't seem to have changed in the 15 months of owning the car. Certainly not since December when I first recorded it.

Something you guys might want to check. Not sure if it was the result of the work a dealer did last week or a subsequent OTA update, but my instrument/infotainment lighting is now stuck on max, with the slider to adjust doing nothing. Makes driving at night problematic due to the high level of light beamed into the eye line. 🤬

Just to update, although it appears that I'm the only one affected. Skoda's next position was that they'd identified the issue with the map data & that it would be fixed in the next map update. Map update came & went with no fix. They then decided they could only fix it by supplying a secret solution to a dealer. Wouldn't disclose what the fix comprised of & wouldn't commit to covering the cost under warranty. Collected the car Wednesday after the ball ache of getting to/from the dealer by public transport. Dealer said they'd applied a service bulletin fix & updated "numerous modules". The end result of which is...absolutely no change. The only positive is that Skoda covered the cost,

No idea what a "Style" model is, but even the base SE model has voice control. To be sure, download the digital certificate from the My Skoda app. It can be manually initiated by the button on the top left of the steering wheel. Initiation by the wake command "OK Laura" is a setting in the infotainment. I leave voice activation off as even when travelling alone, the radio can trigger it.

I saw that too but my SEL Edition doesn't show any lights, only service related items. A cursory look at the menus didn't show any obvious way to turn it on. But given how poor the menu structure is & the lack of documentation, it could be hiding anywhere. @Berisford reported seeing it in October '24 on what I believe was a '24 SEL & @pinkpanther confirmed it on a '23 SEL.

Google tells me it was dropped as standard on MY24 cars, where it became a circa £900 option. So if it's something you want, carefully check the spec of late '23 cars when the change would have been made.

One of the biggest disadvantages in the Sportline is the ridiculous 40 profile tyres fitted to the 19" wheels. The wheels are also 8J rather than the 7J in the rest of the range, so the standard 215 tyres give little protection to the rims over potholes & when parking. I have a SEL Edition that came with 18/50 & I dropped those to 17/55. You're already aware of the issues with the sunroof & while the dancing headlights sound great, it's something else to go wrong as the car ages. We're already seeing instances of LED indicator failures requiring a whole headlight replacement at over £1k. If boot space is a premium requirement, maybe look at an SEL with Varioflex seats. They can be flipped forward or removed completely. Skoda dropped them as standard but I can't remember when. Whatever you go for, buying from an authorised dealer seems essential for the warranty, as does extending it as soon as it expires. Door locks, shock absorbers, electric boot struts & software issues all seem common.

Download the MySkoda app & then download the Digital Certificate. Inspect > Car Details > scroll to bottom. Look for Virtual Pedal. My March 25 built SEL Edition has it & it mostly works. But like most tech, it somehow knows when you need it most & malfunctions then! The infotainment setting to enable is vaguely called Easy Open, under Vehicle > Settings > Opening & Closing..

But you don't have a 2.0...

@McDuff If your car has ACC & it's enabled, it will drive itself in traffic.

I'd be inclined to send it back. That's even worse than the skinny 18".

What profile tyre is fitted?

If driving long distance I'd want a full size spare. No idea why but neither the wheel width nor tyre profile are specified on that 17". Possibly also worth mentioning that Skoda don't offer a 17" space-saver, only 16 & 18", so there could be an insurance issue using one. Best bet would be to find a same size wheel, both diameter & width, as fitted to the car, as that takes some of the pressure off of finding an immediate replacement should you get a puncture. One thing to note is that a full width wheel will eat into boot space.

For what it's worth I taped over the camera today & the only difference was Lane Assist not working. So no further forward. Interestingly there was no error reported like when the camera is obscured by ice. Skoda online continue to be pretty useless. They've vaguely suggested that the map data provider might have found an issue with map data, that might be resolved in a future update. But bizarrely they seem to be unable to provide an explanation of what the Advanced Road Sign Display setting is & even more bizarrely, are suggesting they're waiting for the map provider to tell them!

As @philbes said, ask the question & get the answer in writing. We've seen from previous discussions that there is no one correct answer.

@DGAsp If you intend keeping the car for a while it may be worth considering down-sizing the alloys. That would improve the ride by default, reduce the kerbing risk & the tyres would be cheaper.

I think next step is to tape over the camera & see if I can detect any difference then.

@CJJE Do you see any difference in behaviour for camera vs maps? You can submit changes to incorrect data here.

There is an on/off setting for this in Vehicle Setting > Instrument Cluster, but it doesn't seem to do anything on my year old car. So does anyone know what it's supposed to do? I still have doubts that TSR is working at all in my car. As a supplementary question, is there a difference in behaviour between when TSR sees a speed limit sign as opposed to the change in limit being detected by GPS map data? Scenario would be comparing a clearly visible clean sign to one broken or covered in algae & buried in a hedge.
