  1. If the emergency services, fire / rescue, police , ambulance where at hubs in towns and suburbs and there were transport hubs, parks and ride and ev charging there how forward thinking that would be. Solar and wind and battery storage right there on and around the buildings. Maybe not every place being adapted now but at New towns and estates being built on the edges of cities and between cities. Low emissions transport hubs with hydrogen filling stations. Kind of like that getting planning permission on the outskirts of Perth near Broxden and the Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness trunk routes.
  2. 37 pence a kWh, a minimum £5 for charging and a time penalty on the Rapids has stopped locals taking their EV and plugging in and some even abandoning the car for hours / while they have a round of golf it seems in part of South Ayrshire.
  3. Can you not look at the air filter and see that there is no mice or wasp nest in there?
  4. Was there some petrol in the tank from who knows when or where when you got the car? Had that gone now and just nice fresh fuel being run now. That might still be winter grade from filling stations. Or maybe new summer spec in the last week or so.
  5. Do you want to replace as bulb or an actual light unit including bulbs?
  6. 14 years of a Conservative and Unionist Government that just agreed with the EU up to Brexit and since. Type approval of vehicles and legislation. Cornering Foglights, brake lights on with Autohold, brake lights the full length of the rear of cars. They let the Manufacturers off with defeat devices. They knew of them pre breaking news late 2015. So now they are against the war on motorists seemingly. Now they think that older drivers annoyed by headlights might give their vote to the Tories at the next GE. Simply clever. Maybe mandate that car headlights require checking at a PDI and at each pre delivery check and not first after 3 years on the road.
  7. @classic was it 1.4TSI ACT,s that you did like @LS8Pilothas? Anyone having the cambelt done or asking someone for the cost of the cambelt be sure that they know it is a 1.4 TSI ACT and not just a 1.4TSI. (If you have a 1.5 TSI ACT be sure they know that is what you have, but Skoda,s do not just come with a 1.5TSI)
  8. Advertised today. & there will be more for sale if i look for another 5 minutes.
  9. @SurreyJohn I have told you a trillion times, do not exaggerate. Pull out the dipstick when the outside temperature is minus 10 centigrade and run that 0w 20 FS IV oil between your fingers. Does it really feel as thick as treacle? But we might get you point. Lots of cold starts possibly.
  10. Ps. Come on as you brake. But they were not all on when autohold then held the car. Front and rear brakes not just rears as with the parking brake.
  11. With Skoda,s by 2016. Not necessarily with Seat, Audi or VW,s. Several threads on that on the forum. Ones asking how to code them out as well. It is good if drivers know what lights are on when.
  12. This is the issue, good dipped headlights for those on twisty country roads that will likely be a 60 mph speed limit and the Government needing to listen to those that have to put up with them coming towards them. More likely Matrix LEDs, though and not just bulbs being the problem. E-brakes are good, and Autohold, and using an E-brakes manually to have the parking brake on and no rear brake lights on. A hand brake is damn useful with a Skoda where there is the needs to get the rust cleared off the rear discs after every time the cars are washed or parked..
  13. ? What is the issue with having a car without LED headlights. EDIT. Good news that the DfT (Not the Government as reported on the news) are to look into Headlight Glare. Look right into it, and then decide if the EU Regulations have allowed some really crap types of headlights for cars, and tail lights and brake lights. Government Research. Odd it has taken 14 years of this Government to bother. There is a GE coming. Nothing to do with populist ideas, get older, blinder voters on side. There are plenty drivers around that should be using lane keep assist to help keep other road users safe from their wandering about all other the road.
  14. The UK Government does not run the World or an Empire and can not even run the UK successfully. But the percentage of vehicles each year to be Zero Emissions is happening with the EU and the UK and as much as anyone hums and ho,s that is it for a decade and a bit. If some emissions / pollution is reduced then that might be something towards what the UK government signed up to. There is some real nonsense spoken about BEV,s by those that are not wanting them or have not got them, and also by those with them. If you are not interested in BEV,s and do not want ones you have plenty years to keep buying new ICE vehicles but the choice of them might reduce and more with be electrified as hybrid or PHEV running up til 2035. PS There are countries now that are banning the import of the dirty ICE vehicles that other countries are getting rid of. 3rd World Countries. Actual ones with lots of sun or wind and the ability to generate electricity. Likely countries rich in oil, gas or minerals that gets stolen for the likes of the car manufacturers and corporations in the energy business in the countries that want to reduce emissions. Supposedly.
  15. Well run in then, and has not been sitting idle.
  16. Many will want an Extended Warranty valid. A PHEV & DQ400-e DSG. That has a service interval of 40,000 miles.
  17. The engine has long life oil in, vw508 00 / 509 00, 0w20 FS IV. Good for 18.000 - 20,000 miles in the right application. Used for longer trips etc. They recommend not in the plug in hybrid. This is because a PHEV is a whole different kettle of fish or potential bucket of bolts. Maybe only running. EV. The DSG oil and brake fluid are hygroscopic . Service as you think fit. But many will want a valid warranty and service per schedule..
  18. 'Autohold' is great. BUT, for extended stops the Rear Brake Lights are on, and unless you are last in the traffic maybe not necessary and not how the UK Highway codes indicates you should use Brakes / Brake lights. Just another thing where the EU and the UK have differences. Like the EU / Type approval seemed to be OK with Cornering Fog lights, or Front Fog Lights that can be enabled to automatically come on when reverse is selected. (Rather than a driver thinking, nothing coming, i am reversing and need more lights to the front to see where i have come from, best put Front Fog lights on. Or just putting the Full Beam on.) Lots of drivers have no idea that the Brake Lights are on with Autohold, not all VW Group cars are. Or that the Fog Lights come on in Reverse because someone thought it a good idea to enable. Yeti Drivers.
  19. The Oil change interval in the UK for a 1.4 TSI PHEV is Fixed Regime, 1 year / 9,400 miles. 15,000 km.
  20. Your car, You do not have to do anything to your engine. Ignore the Fixed Oil & Filter change, the air filter the spark plugs etc. But that is not that clever really is it. The engine is firing up occasionally, maybe not getting to a good temp. There is condensation / H20 is the engine & that causes rust / corrosion.
  21. Not if the radio unit is the one that was in the car when it left the factory. Do you know that it is?
  22. Is it really stage 3 with the standard hardware? Intake, full exhaust, intercooler and hard pipes, turbo, injectors, fuel pump, wastegate. Not just the Name and a badge on the boot with 3 flashes like some with a APR remap have.
  23. If there is a FMDSH / Full Main Dealer Service History, ask is that serviced to the Recommendations, Guidelines, Specifications or Schedule. Brake fluid changed, Pollen filter twice, spark plugs, & has the Air Filter even been looked at to see if it needs replaced.
  24. Welcome. 3 Cylinder TSI,s with a GPF can be like 4 Cylinders but lets concentrate on the 3 Cylinder. Like with the 1.2 TSI,s the Skoda Employees can be told to tell customers any old crap and that things are normal & some are. The engine might start and have a higher RPM and drop in 40 seconds or so. But has this 2019 3 cylinder 1.0 TSI had new spark plugs at 4 years / 40,000 miles might be important. Ask them, see if they say too low a mileage. This was the guff they were told to tell owners of 1.2 TSI with cold start issues. Pre GPF,s. But they have a Catalytic converter.
  25. Those that call themselves 'Service Centers', are often Poor Service offered centers. Desk and workshop staff with full time jobs doing the same thing day in and day out and not very well really.
