  1. Sorry can't link the thread but you should find what you want in the Fabia mk 2 section with a search. Or someone can maybe help you find the various threads. Maybe @Breezy_Petecan help.
  2. An Octavia scout or any 2.0 TDI or TSI or Skoda car with Haldex has not got a 7 speed DQ200 DSG. It will have a DQ 381 7 speed wet clutch DSG where MCU failures are becoming more and more common. Globally. Check with a search of DQ381 failures. Not overblown on forums. VW would like owners to believe that though.
  3. I just received an e-mail from Motability about a Connect Trial on EV,s. Their team and the RAC can track vehicles and see if there might be maintenance requirements or service needs. They say that almost all EV,s that can connect to the internet can be part of this trial. Then that my car qualifies and no need to opt in as already part of this. We will see how they are doing because I have wheels on with no TPMS sensors in and the car gives a warning every time I start it to contact a dealer. Big brother has been here for a long time and Data Protection appears to not be your choice to opt in. I can disconnect the car from internet, but it likely still is able to connect to wi-fi hot spots. PS, it says that if any potential or actual issues are detected from the Data collected from Connected Vehicles the RAC can contact me and arrange a visit from a mobile patrol or arrange a visit to a dealership.
  4. Is it down to 2 years 20,000 miles on vehicles built after a certain date or are they making out on any? Generation 4 or 5. If based on how many failures there have been they have to take into account all there years of Official VW group approved repairers / main dealers only doing half the job at services.. taking the Michael actually.
  5. @J.R. yes yah. Not no nae never. With a Fabia MK2 vRS with a 45 litre tank and down to maybe 40 mile range and still able to get 52 litre in. Actual is better than theory and there will be those on this forum that have done exactly this.
  6. @DMAC23 was that someone on the service desk rather than a Technician.? They are partly right. When it breaks life is over for the timing belt and maybe the engine. As of July 2023 the recommendations , guidelines , advice is not the time scale you were just told. Others have in writing the time or distance and advice on checking, inspecting.
  7. There must be at least 5 threads on this now in the Superb and Octavia sections but with different titles.
  8. A quoted tank of 45 litres is a 45 litre tank. You might well get 7 more litres up the pipe so brimmed if you brim. Same with any tank. Many do not want to brim, or on cars with tanks that can vent, actually vent before a trip.
  9. Bump for @MarkyG82 just one of similar threads on VAQ,s. Lots of cars out there with a VAQ diff might not have had it serviced. Including Skoda VW approved used cars with FMDSH. In the MK4 section seemingly now a @ 2 year / 20,000 miles schedule item.
  10. @BerisfordImpossible to find price list for 2024 because in 2022 they started saying price on application. POA. But plenty dealers have prices showing in there ads. But beware £99, £110 on Haldex might not be a proper clean out. You want the job done correctly.
  11. Oil and filter change due on VAQ, front diff, fwd cars. Octavia MK4 now at 2 years 20,000 miles apparently. There are threads on the ones leaking or wrecked through lack of servicing. Links in the threads from me on service kits etc.
  12. @LeGrumpy re your oils. VW 502 is not long life 5w 40 FS. So if doing fixed oil services. Your choice if you want. It is VW 504 00 / 507 00. Long life. 507 must be the spec for TDI,s fixed or Variable. The VW 504 /507 you use might well be 0w 30 FS III. 5w 30 FS III or even 0W 40 FS III. Later for WLTP is when vw went 0w 20 FS IV, VW508 00/ 509 00. GPF,s were fitted a couple of years after your car was built.
  13. @lol-lol fertiliser requires lots of energy to produce. Electricity and hence the Nuclear power stations in the Ukraine.
  14. Not to make light of those all around the world getting killed, starved, raped etc because supposedly they are so religious that they think torturing and killing others is perfectly fine, but the wars are really about land, oil and gas, and minerals and who controls the land and wealth there in. The only fighting over renewables so far seems to be with Planning or local or not even local objectors. OT, But the people are being conned by DRAX and paying for that pleasure. The whole Green Energy thing is a nonsense. The UK Government and the political parties need to get a grip.
  15. I had 225,35 R 18 on wheels off a Audi A1 Competition 122 ps on a Fabia. They were no better than any good tyres i had used. Hard ride though. There are different rear axles pre and post 2012. Threads on that. ARB front and rear, rear brace fitted all been done. Just check the Fabia Project Section. Lighter battery in the front threads, turned to side kit etc. Plenty done all the bits a pieces.
  16. It is not 40,000 miles on all DSG,s since DQ200,s are no Schedule. DQ381 @ 80,000 or sooner obviously. There is changes now, there was / is VAQ front diffs that were at 30,000 / 3 years, now at 20,000 / 2 year. ***Many never get told about the VAQ service, or told not necessary or can be done sometime.*** Same with Brake Fluid, was @ 30,000 / 3 years then each 2 years. Now at 2 years and each 2 years. Not seen Skoda and Haldex at 20,000 miles / 2 yeas, but Volvo had that. Some need doing, use, location, blocked up and dirty even if never offroad, in a river, sea or mud. It is pick a number any number as far as Guidelines, Recommendations, Advice or Schedules these days. What a pity those in Skoda Dealerships seem to not know.
  17. @Sandgroper Maybe an idea to find out if the car does have Stop / Start. ? Which spec of Mk2 Fabia? What year of car, what engine, is there a button for switching Stop / Start off?
  18. Not have the cheapest and actually lightest of the 5 1.4 TSI / TFSI 132-136 kW twin chargers have the best performance. The other car they added weights to after there were handling issues were Audi TT,s. But no other engine Fabia, Polo, Ibiza , A1 needed ballast at the rear. Nobody fits extra weight to the rear corner of a Fabia MK2 Monte Carlo 1.6tdi if tuned and to have it perform / handle better. The MK2 vRS even with weights fitted can **** (co+-ck) a back wheel on cornering hard on tracks or up hill fast corners. What they should have done was fit the correct suspension and even the battery in the boot. But then the Polo GTI was thousands more expensive and not truly faster and is heavy to this day. Anyone could just weigh them.
  19. Sounds like a Technician with the gear and no idea. Maybe a day off when the course on MCU fitting and adaptions were done. This 200 miles and 500 miles they go on about is a nonsense. Total guff.
  20. @J.R. the MK2 Fabia vRS was built between 2010 and 2014. Skoda put on the rear crash bar ballast weight of 25 kG. On the Hatch not on the 9 3/4" longer estate which they have as 5kG lighter. Stronger rear springs obviously, does not go light on front when accelerating from a standstill. Not the TC flashing or power cut or brakes nipped.. They also got spare wheels and tools, 19kG. The sister cars were showing as lighter. No weight on the crash bar. They can have tow bars. The Polo GTI got the battery in the boot and no spare as standard. That was a tax band lower and lighter. Well until the true kerb weight was given for 3 and 5 doors. The Ibiza 3 door was heavier than the hatch vRS, only the A1 195 PS two charger was lighter. Basically with the rear springs on the vRS and ballast weights the front goes light under acceleration.. the figures for 0-62 and the economy are an accounts exercise in cheating the lightest of the cars / cheapest. The vRS on 205 tyres the sister cars on 215,s. When the CTHE engines was fitted in 2012 SEAT had the Ibiza showing lower emissions and a lower tax band. Skoda never bothered. Testing would have shown the false official figures when show. Against the sister car or vRS estate. Kerb weights and emissions.. as it is as others built cars light Skoda designed and manufacturer and the fitted Ballast weights, even type approved or maybe not. Add weight, not improved brakes. Really took the pith. PS. The important bit is the better ride of a Polo GTI than the vRS even on the same springs if you had fitted the Eibach option. Also if you fit 215/40 r 17 tyres on the vRS. The vRS still had a big heavy lump fitted at the very rear most fixing place. The GTI has a between the wheels and no spare wheel in the boot unless fitted as an option.
  21. Personally I use manual for Down shifts. Decelerating, off the accelerator or ready dropping a gear to boot it and get a move on. I knock back across to D and let it do upshifts. And with a DQ200 like the Arona has then actually if you boot it hard in manual 2,3,4 etc and don't shift up you might find the box does anyway to save revving it's nuts off. Then there is being in D. If you want to slow down drop the shifter back to S. Or if you want to boot it and not kick down. Back to S, it comes down a gear and boot it, you might even get a double kick down. But then with a DQ200 and just 115 ps or less maybe wasting your time. A 150, 180 or 192 ps does move a bit quicker.
  22. That is great. But the Safety Critical Recall is in place in the UK for those possibly affected and this could have been done. Or the other 2 patches attempted by some. If people want to find someone that can resolve issues if there are still ones then great. What a pity that VW that had the engineers and software engineers and were the biggest car manufacturer in the world never just fixed them but leave people to DIY. If someone has a warranty or an extended warranty I would protect it. 2018 vehicles now being 6 years old and if VW 🏀 ed up then they still are responsible for 🍋,s.
  23. If a TSI then if or when you change the Cambelt the water pump does not require replacing. With a TDI it is best to. As far as a 1.6 TDI or a 2.0 TDI I would be considering have I had the car from new and know how it has been driven. How it has been possibly driven by others if bought used and how much you like to risk it for a biscuit. Recommendations from VW group or others is OK but it is not them paying to have maintenance or failures.
  24. Around 50 pence a kWh is acceptable, but now 69 pence, 78 pence, 89 pence is just crazy for private drivers. Even at 4.5 miles to a kWh so 10 kW giving 45 miles and 10x 78 pence £7.80. that can be the reality of traveling and public charging. A diesel can be cheaper.
  25. @CJS-Do Are you even dealing with Skoda HQ or VW UK HQ at and level or has your Warranty issue got to nobody ? Get the Area Warranty Manager involved for the Dealership or Dealership group you are dealing with.
