France. 'clean air stickers' Paris, Lyon, Grenoble.
The Mayor of Paris Anne Hisalgo is going to hold a referendum in February on an increase in parking charges on SUV,s . I wonder how they will class a SUV if buy Size, length, weight, being AWD etc. Or is there some vehicle classes in France that shows a difference from a MPV or a Crossover, 4x4 etc?

England EV Charging points, a proposal. & location & news on new charging hubs in England & Wales.
MFG pricing for EV charging 79 pence kWh is quite some price. They are getting customers at their chargers. Maybe the chancellor can do something in the Autumn Budget Announcement to help private drivers with the cost of public charging via the VAT rate.

^^^ Common on EV,s of the cheaper type which might be £30,000-£40,000 plus are Michelin Primacy 4. Crap on BEV, PHEV,s, Hybridsas they are on ICE vehicles in adverse weather and winter conditions, just as the Pirelli, Continental, Dunlop or Goodyear that might get fitted. LIke the Goodyear Eagle F1 fitted to my Electric MINI. These are the same type of tyres that have a Summer or ECO Bias. Even the VW Group / Skoda SUV,s might be on Bridgestone Dueler which are pretty rubbish tyres in colder / winter / snowy/ icy weather. Just like those that an Enyaq comes to the UK wearing. Even with Staggered Tyres, that is wide rears, but still with rubbish Traction / Grip.

Correct tyre size for 2018 octavia
I have the C of C for my MINI Electric & it is for 205/45 R 17 W 88 on 7,0 J x 17 ET54 the car came with. The cars limit is 94 mph with up to 168 mph (max) tyres. The thing is the tyres they came with were Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres which were rubbish in the slights of a damp surface even at UK NSL of 60 mph.

@J.R.I got your 14 days a year. It is nonsense though and not just in the areas of Scotland's 5 Ski Centres. There are palm trees near Spey Bay on the Moray Firth as well, but that does not mean they do not get snow and iced roads that need salted and gritted. There are post code areas of Scotland that get Cold Weather payments for maybe as much as 7 weeks in a winter for temperatures or forecast temps of zero or below for 7 consecutive days nights. (Well there was before last winter when it stopped in Scotland but Cold Weather payments still can be paid in the RoUK.)

@J.R.Don't be daft. Where you get that 14 days in 3 decades is mystery, it might not be in the majority of the UK but there is weeks of poor conditions in enough of the UK in winter. Plenty members drive in parts of Scotland, England, Wales or Ireland South or North that need tyres to deal with adverse conditions and snow. You might just have 20 miles to travel in the worst of conditions i wish you had appropriate tyres. FWD cars are not an issue, low profile / wide tyres with Summer / ECO bias treads are and that need not even be vehicles with more than 75 ps having issies let alone twice that. A DSG is good in Snow but a DQ200 DSG has a 1st gear that spins up quick to change by 6 mph or so. It can just be a gentle accelerator foot needed with them. Even the TC off when having an issue getting moving. Using S for slowing down helps when off the accelerator rather than touch the brakes.

@ChoclabThe newness is not even off your tyres really if just 750 miles done. ? Have you adjusted the pressures for the load carried and reset the TPMS?

Space saver
The Foam does not ruin a tyre. Tyre fitters might not want the bother of cleaning up. You can take the tyre away and clean it up and if repairable have it repaired later. Just saying. No use at the time, but do not scrap a tyre just because foam was used as a temp repair.

They are not hopeless in winter on the right tyres. The Petrols are no Premium. They might be E5 and 97 or 99 Octane Minimum, & Costco E5 is 99 ron Min. Or E10 and 95 ron. All Petrol delivered now in the UK is winter grade so less hygroscopic. All Diesel is also Winter spec, so has Anti Waxing. This is until March 2024.

^^^ Thats the last thing i would do with the OEM tyres unless summer / warm fully loaded or towing. ECO Pressures, less grip / traction is the only way better fuel economy is achieved. ECO Pressure is getting near to the 'In transit' pressure the cars are delivered at and the pressure not dropped at the PDI, or they send EV,s out on when demonstrators to kid on they get a better range.

I would, Send the sales person an e-mail and tell them the pressure you want the tyres set at. When you arrive check the pressures with your gauge. If wrong start at that point to be telling them to get their act together if necessary, Hopefully not. Check before the car is started where the coolant sits. Dip the oil cold and see where it sits. Later check at normal operating temp after a few minutes stopped on the flat. Check the spare wheel and the kit is all there OK. Enjoy, it should be all fine. Perth is lovely even for a flying visit, weather forecasts not to bad.

the truth about electric cars
The day will come when it all goes t!ts up though. People in the UK are bothered about ID cards & stuff, the cars know it all, as do others. Not just BEV,s though.

Octy vRS 245 Oil Type
You are fine with Oil to VW504 00 / 507 00. so 5w 30 FS III or 0w 30 FS III if topping up or changing oil and that is what is in. If last time it got 0w 20 FS IV at the service use that for topping up. ? Has your VAQ Diff been service? @ 3 years / 30,000 mile intervals, maybe even @ 20,000 mile intervals now. PS Skoda never started putting in VW508 00 / 509 00 until before the WLTP came in, they were not using it in 2017.

There really are not too crap in Perth. Better in Dundee though. As long as the Dealer Principal knows about the travelling and the time scale and that their staff are on the ball or the Dealerships customer service or they will be torn to shreds on Social Media. Someone there will see this so hopefully they do their very best....

Lane assist - does anyone actually like it?
It does not exist because the EU legislation which the non EU UK will accept will be on NEW Type Approved vehicles. All the stuff up to now was evolving and being R&D,d on the Paying Public, the issue is that VW Group took Software Inhouse and ballsed up. There are systems with other manufacturers which work just fine.

Thomson & Potter Skoda Perth (John Clark Motor Group) are OK, better than those south of Perth IMO. They do check at the PDI, but sometimes someone might be more interested in their phone. ? Are you getting the train or bus up? You have 23 miles of 70 mph max Average Speed Cameras as you head back towards Stirling which is fine for getting used to the car. A Tesco for Tesco Momentum 99 near enough if you want to fill up with the good stuff from the off.

Welcome. Enjoy the car and the drive back. How far up Scotland are you coming? Remember and tell the Salesperson to be sure the tyres are not overinflated before hand over and the TPMS set, Surely by now the VW Group have chain tensioners as reliable as they can be, it has been many decades they have for them to remember Vosrprung durch Technik.

Welcome. Your tyre question is covered in lots of threads in the Karoq section and also in the Wheel & Tyres threads. Asked or discussed every winter.

My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
4*oC. Not a breath of wind. But then it was 3.5 miles kW/h going up hill for 21 miles, and it gets to 3.9 with 23 miles coming back but it was over 4 miles quite a bit until the last 2 miles.

A wee run up to Glen Doll and back after the rain and before anymore. Not many about other than at the Clova Hotel or Workers doing ditch work and fallen trees, but there were some cyclists that would be going through pretty long stretches of water.

Haldex 5 service interval
Ps. There has never been anything MAJOR about a variable / flexible service at 2 years old. Other than it used to be a fixed price the same as 2nd service at 4 years. It was a con. The extra was a Pollen filter. It was at 4 years / 40,000 miles that the price was to include the Fuel filter or spark plugs and Air filter. All odd as it would be in the UK that Brake and Haldex would be due at 3 years, but might be done at extra cost when you paid for Fixed / annual service. In the UK before the Manufacturers warranty expired or the first MOT. Germany never gave the UK being a different set up from the rest of the EU or Europe any thought.

DSG problem, No Reverse and only 1st and 3rd in D
The '34H5' was on MY 2013 cars, DQ200's produced after the Summer 2012, those before were covered under 34F7. There were cars / DQ200,s late 2012 tto early 2013 hat were not part of the Service Campaigns, according to Skoda / VW. That was wrong and if interested look at the last pages in the pinned thread at the top of the Fabia Mk2 section. 'Flashing white spanner' and those cheated or lied to by Skoda.
