  1. Skoda UK years ago eventually followed VW when the Guidelines / Recommendations were reduced from 40,000 / 4 years to 30,000 miles / 3 years. Skoda just went first with 30,000 miles but not the 3 years, then they caught up. Still many Dealerships only did have a job and changed just the oil no clean out or Screen clean or replacing. 3 years / 30,000 miles for the first time has been far too long for some cars. Be sure the DQ381 is getting the Filter replaced and do not listen to 'We do not change the filter, it is not required'.
  2. Some here who switch it off must know when theirs operates. When they have not put it off obviously. Then for passing cyclists they will be observing the 1.5 meter distance rule. Which is often not possible, well unless you follow the bike until the other carriageway is clear.
  3. @Kirky2k2What was bedding in, and have you had it on a Dyno now to know that you get that figures?
  4. ? Is Lane Keep Assist working on Mk4 Octavia at speeds below 40 mph?
  5. Toyota Corolla 1.8 hybrid Touring Sport.
  6. Best not let them stretch out dealing with the Poor Preparation of their Skoda Approved Used cars. They need to get a hire car if they have not enough courtesy cars, or one of the Demonstrators that the Staff are using as daily drives which Skoda UK still own or they have for 3 months / 3,000 miles before getting the Tax Break on when sold as Ex Demonstrator / Management. Their Vallaters can get the car dry before frosts. Or they can bring in someone.

Is that a Typo and you meant change at 100,000 miles not 10,000 ? No idea how many miles you do annually, so how long / years until you do or have an inspection.
  8. Is the Old pollen filter out ready for a new one to go in. The area vacuumed and washed with disinfectant & dry ?
  9. Sorry if i state the obvious. There is a wall right in front of the car and the Matrix light system knows there is. Go sit with just half a wall across in front of the car.
  10. Winter diesel is anti-waxing and starts getting delivered in Scotland and the North of England from mid to late October then further south and until the end of March.
  11. @TiltI had driven with the same engine and gearbox in a Mini and it was fine. The tyres on the BMW were noisy, the alloys on that hire car were really bad, but that is because so easily kerbed. Comfort was good, the interior nice, but really there are cars / auto,s that are a better drive IMO. Check which if any other panels have had paint repairs or panels replaced.
  12. Registered Keepers, not Owners. I have owned cars, 2nd owner / registered keeper after Demonstrator, then given / lent to son, Registered in his name, then to partner, Registered in her name, then sold. 2 Owner car. But not just a 1-2 year old car. So what is the History of that one?, BMW, Hire / Courtesy car. sold. defaulted on finance, anyone's guess really. I had this from Eurocar. Bucket of sh!t really. Needed to be in Sport to get a move on really and was a heavy drinker and trying to drive economically was boring.
  13. @J.R.Was it maybe a few years earlier? , they were out racing by 1984.
  14. Welcome. Maybe a mod can move your post to the Roomster section where it might get a reply. A Yeti or Fabia 1.2 TSI tows a lightweight caravan just fine. ? What power of engine has your Roomster, is it 105ps?
  15. The online information they have at Dealers / Skoda is likely not much more than you know. Not much needs doing. Have the brakes ever had a service, not just an inspection? 2nd Variable Service sounds like there was the first one, so at 24 months / 18,000- 20,000 miles or sooner, so now the second of the same. Old days If it was a Oil & Filter service with a Pollen Filter replaced that looks very much like what was referred / called a Interim or Minor Service. It was 2019 / 2020 that the Oil & Inspection Service & Extended Scope started being used in the Fixed Servicing & Maintenance. Then a Major Service. (Not that much about it being Major, just servicing really.) ? Any record of the Brake Fluid changed at this 2nd Service if not at the 1st, or in between at 3 years / 30,000 miles. That is an extra that needs paid for. Unless included in a Service Plan. .................. This is about the Fixed / Annual Servicing not Variable / Flexible, so different.

The threads that have posts on Timing Belts in 2023 nearly all have the update from July the 1st 2023 where VW Group UK / Skoda changed the 5 years / 50,000 mile, recommendation / guidelines, as it never was a Schedule, just the UK different from other European or EU Counties Dust Free. People are still asking is it also Cambelts & Waterpumps in TDI,s that are no longer at 5 years / 50,000 miles and Skoda CS / Bots say it is all engines.
  17. For when lower than 8*oC and to freezing and below, Is there a nice clean air filter, and air box, and has the Fuel Filter been replaced any time in the past few years. Winter Spec Diesel even in the south now being sold, so if the old Summer Spec is in the tank time to fill the tank before really low temperatures, but they would need to be more than minus 8*oC and much lower.
  18. @Carlstonmight just know where and at what price, i spotted some in a thread today in Wheel & Tyres, 'Winter Tyres'.
  19. @john1952Have you had a chance to listen with the car locked, then unlock and open the drivers door and hear if the priming noise is what you hear under the bonnet?
  20. OT but did the Prime Minister and wife have the No.11 flat freshened up a bit or painted / papered over at their or tax payers expense or was the last but one Prime Minister made to have it back in an acceptable condition for whoever was next going to be occupying it. As to painted walls, or lined and painted and then Gold Leaf or Gold paint wall Stencilling, it is not something easy to tell what has been done just from pictures. A £30,000 a year allowance. Lovely stuff.
  21. The story of the money lent by Lord Brownlow is not in doubt is it regardless of what materials and contractors were used, or the interior designer?
  22. The ACT / COD Engines have evolved and changed and not just the Cubic Capacity, it is 1.5 TSI EVO engines and then the Software / Engine Management that they were released with and then the Software and changes not just for the WLTP / RDE2 but to have them behave and be fit for actual Real World, not Real World Test kidology.
  23. The Oil level is critical, within certain quantities, and getting low has the oil worked harder. The Oil spec is important but the Additives are part of the Spec. The 1.8 TSI,s that had the issues could be fine on VW502 00 so 5w 40 FS & Fixed Services. Many might have been better using that rather the Long Life oil VW504 00 / 509 00 5w 30 FS III The Fabia and other Euro 5 engine cars had issues and there were Dealership techs that did know of the Oil Capacity change of 1.2 TSI in 2012 from 3.6 to 3.9, and even fitted the wrong filters. The 1.4 TSI Twinchargers were running too low oil at 3.6 litres, and then lower as oil was used, 3.9 litres was correct at an oil and filter change. 3..6 litres in and they could be 1.3 litres low before you got a LOW OIL warning, sometime you got a LOW OIL PRESSURE warning first. 1/3 low on oil in engines already not with much of a capacity and 178 BHP from 1,390cc, Turbo & Supercharger. Hence a contribution to the failure rate of over 20%.
