  1. @D.FYLAKTOSyou just posted a picture of modular alloys that someone took apart to powder coat, stove enamel or paint did you not. I have modular alloys / split rim alloys on my 4x4 which can be taken apart just like that.
  2. Common in the UK especially among customisers, VW enthusiasts. Done by people with all the gear and more than ideas. http://gcfabrications.co.uk/banded-wheels http://usherengineering.co.uk/ecom/?product=banded-steel-wheels http://bandedsteelwheels.co.uk
  3. Amazing the lack of contributions from members that operate Private Hire vehicles. No idea if any amendments was made back from this in 2014. New Clause 9 - Private hire vehicles_ circumstances in which driver’s licence required_ 25 Mar 2014_ Public Bill Committees - TheyWorkForYou.mhtml
  4. If DQ381,s are going to have the issues that DQ200,s did that ultimately required a Global Recall in 2012 which excluded Europe then Service Campaigns and Recalls and TPI,s and software updates then it is important that faults are reported to the VW Group via Dealerships and Customer Services and the Importers. No point being told, 'never heard of that before', or 'they all do that', or you use the gearbox / autohold / e-brake wrong. If there are fundamental design, manufacturing, material or fluid faults or issues this early in the production life of these DSG,s then that does not bode well.
  5. ? How much is this highly skilled person with the equipment to be able to do this modification charging for the work? It is nothing like just banding steel wheels.
  6. @NeillvrsAny developments? What is being replaced?
  7. Step 2 if that is not done at a Skoda Main Dealer or Approved VW Group repairer is do not let anyone other than them touch the car / dsg. Even though you might be told the car is out of manufacturers warranty you want it in for a diagnosis at a Main Dealers even if you have to pay for that. Keep a record in writing & then you might need to get into discussions with Skoda UK over the failure if there is a failure of a 5 year old DSG that has no Servicing requirements until 80,000 miles. There might be the need for an independent expert to be involved, but that all depends on what is faulty and how the Main Dealership or Skoda UK deal with things. This was a DQ200 has no Service Requirements and is an example of how a owner might be dealt with at a Main Dealership. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/513192-dsg-repair-costs-should-skoda-pay

  9. @Knodty ? How many miles has your 2018 Karoq done and have you had it from new? Which engine has it? Has it had Main Dealer Servicing as per manufacturer Recommendations, Guidelines, specifications or even schedule? The DQ381 service interval according to them is @ 80,000 miles, so if not serviced that is OK if under that. (Was the Haldex serviced in 2021 @ 3 years?, not relevant to the DSG just to the Servicing it has had carried out.) Unfortunately DQ381 issues are not unheard of. Yes people report issues on forums, but surely Dealership Employees can not say they have never heard of issues. Receptionists might, but not Master Techs. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/508475-gearbox-dq381-in-emergency-mode http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/509581-7-gear-4x4-dsg-gearbox-error-codes=for-2018-tsi-kodiaq http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/509101-dsg-in-emergency-mode-in-the-cold http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/502781-gearbox-in-emergency-mode-no-reverse-gear http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/505394-gearbox-oil-leak http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510461-what-dsg-box-do-i-have http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/513943-kodiaq-20-tdi-dsg DQ200 not a DSG. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/513192-dsg-repair-costs-should-skoda-pay
  10. Mercedes Luxury Minibuses. Not the latest as you get now. They had a 95 mile range. So allow for the driver getting on a charger before collecting passengers from the airport requires them to get on any of the 5 Edinburgh Park & Ride chargers with usually 2 out of order and people wanting on them, and a max 30 minutes charge time. (Me explaining to 2 drivers with their vehicles why the Charge Place Scotland cards they were given do not work and they might get the App to start the chargers if they put them on their phones, that they had not the accounts so they need to try getting CPS to start a charger or use a credit or debit card as i do, and all this while there are no chargers as me and other are on them and someone waiting, and the flights are due in that they are meeting people off of. It got no better as the week went on.) Glasgow is even worse with a total lack of rapid chargers near. So drivers that travel with the likes of events and unfamiliar with localities are virtually up creaks without paddles and back at base there with Diesel Generators charging the vehicles. That is Real World. I see that the Westminster Government has different grants than the Scottish Government. There is a different Secretary of State for Transport & Minister for Transport because there are devolved governments in Scotland & Wales. http://transport.gov.scot/news/30-million-to-support-the-shift-to-zero-emission-transport The Scottish Transport Minister resigned this week for health reason, he used to be the Minister for Mental Health & Well Being. He was as hopeless as those that went before him were. Millions and millions are thrown at getting EV,s on the road in Scotland and chargers and it is just wasted in many cases as the Maintenance of many Public Chargers is pathetic, and the speed with which planning, approval and then actually building and going live happens. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-63371759 http://dailyrecord.co.uk/news/local-news/over-1000-faults-found-ev-29239495 The actual key is getting on with it and not just announcing plans, and the then when people invest and build hubs and install chargers get them actually turned on.

77 kW usable would be running til empty. So if you want 10% left for a margin of safety you take 7.7 kWh off that and you get to 69.3 kWh. This 80 kW then 77 kW stuff is all about kidolgy. As with my car, 50 kWh battery, 45 kWh usable, not tempting going below 10% unless certain of getting a charge means if i start with 100% then i am playing with 40.5 kWh. If starting on 100% battery i might not have regen / regen breaking until the battery is down to 98%. 77 x 4.4 = 338.8 69.3 x 4.4 = 304.92 Bigger battery you might just use 5% as the figure where you start getting range anxiety. 77 - 3.85 = 73.15 kWh x 4.4 = 321.86 miles.
  12. Or a Fifer residing on the West Coast. That got me in trouble from a Fifer last time i posted the likes. Plenty houses / homes in parts of Fife have the possibility of off street parking , just to get things back on topic. Then for Electric Vehicles like at the Open Golf in St Andrews and the Executive Travel EV's they can just bring the Diesel Generators to charge them & still they had not enough range to get to Edinburgh or Glasgow airport and back without having to try and get on chargers. ,........................... Pathetic in Fife for 50 kW Rapid charging and 'Destination Charging'.
  13. So many UK road registered cars are sitting in Long Stay or short stay at airports, and in compounds at hirers, then sitting at garages, as in dealership compounds, car super markets etc etc. You only need to drive about in the UK to see where cars are in council house estates, villages, towns and cities and look at 4 in a block housing, multi storey buildings and various types of housing, then semi detached or detached. the 24% of housing in England not having off street parking is yet another fantasy in a country where the government have no idea how many are in the country, how many properties are sub divided or illegal properties of multiple occupation. More importantly the UK government , Dft / DVSA have no idea how may illegal vehicles are on UK roads, but then they are unlikely to be EV,s and when illegals get parked 'Off road'.
  14. I think if the Office for National Statistics or A.N.Other was to do the 'score on the doors' that 'most EV,s' in the UK are Company Cars or for business use, owned / leased by local authorities, NHS, Social Work, etc and not more than 50 % are privately owned or leased. Someplace there might well be statistics by country or region. Statistics on Vehicle & EV ownership in London with over 8 million or more of a population, or Scotland with under 6 million of a population. This Off road parking, driveway stuff that keeps getting trotted out i suspect is total guff. DVLA know registered keepers address's but not actually where vehicles are parked. Insurance companies know where they are told vehicles are kept overnight.

  16. @MJ1I would have a cambelt replaced @ 5 years or maybe before if i had owned one from new and knew how it was driven and where kept because i would have driven it. (I lease cars from Motability that do lots of miles and cars i own do not do many miles and get serviced accordingly and cost little over the many years i have them.) In my Electric Corsa from Motability i have done 55,000 miles in 34 months & it is a shame but someone will end up buying it once it is at auction in the next 3 months. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/513911-kodiaq-cam-belt-replacement-required-or-advisory
  17. Used seldom. Not used by some that run Taxis / Private hire cars and then when the engine or gearbox give up & they are claiming off a warranty then say, 'Not me, i stopped using it for that'.
  18. As in that 2nd page i screenshot, The servicing and maintenance to manufacturers instructions and suitable records might well have Private Hire cars at garages with all the gear, more than ideas and no Taxi Licence. But obviously they would need insured to drive Customers vehicles & work on them. Taxi's and warranties are an issue that many would want nothing to do with. Back when AdBlue and the other similar systems came out there were Dundee Car Dealers that had new buyers sign a document that they had been told the cars were not suitable for use as Taxis. They liked their Peugeot, Citroen, Renault etc and sitting with cars ticking over, the cars didn't like it. There were those buying cars privately or leasing and thinking they could just clock them to hide the mileage but they ended up with cars that were crap for their needs. The Fluid Bags were changed at the Services not just topped up like you do with AdBlue.
  19. Exemptions on page 3 covers it just fine for Taxi's.. Not spotted the 'Private hire' yet.
  20. Well in cars / Skoda the Alarm Siren has it's own battery. Surely a mobile battery like a Tesla / EV (a battery on wheels) is with lots of energy but just a flat 12 v battery can have a bit of power for the security, CCTV? Maybe designing a car that makes Fart noises is more important than protecting stuff in the frunk.
  21. The torque increase to 320 Nm or so with 1.4 TSI / TFSI Twinchargers with Stage 1 maps has not been an issue & you can have upgrade clutch packs and software, but many never had and the DSG did the job. As for a Euro 5 Emissions 1.8 TSI in India & a DQ200 DSG, i think i would leave well alone and keep my fingers crossed the engine stays good as standard. @Anu123 Has your 2014 DQ200 DSG had a Service Campaign action carried out? There was one for some DQ200,s between 2013-2015 and this was a Software Update. '34H5' in Europe. It was because of pressure / heat problems and failures. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/513150-increase-mileage
  22. I would expect an alarm to sound and even a camera in the car to catch the action even with a flat 12v battery.
  23. http://falkirkherald.co.uk/news/people/disappointment-for-electric-vehicle-drivers-after-nhs-forth-valley-restricts-use-of-new-charge-points-at-falkirk-community-hospital Loads of NHS and Social Work employees now have EV's for work and not enough workplace parking or charging. Many large hospitals without EV charging for Visitors or staff with private cars. Dundee Ninewells teaching hospital as an example with 1 ev charging point. Free parking now after the Scottish Government had to buy out the private operators contract for Ninewells for £35 million. That should give some idea of the size and how much the operator was making annually.
  24. I understand what someone at the OP,s garage says. I understand insurance for the business or even family or partners of a Taxi / Private hire vehicle needing to have insurance cover or maybe not allowed to drive a Licensed vehicle for Private Use. I know that all Mechanics / Techs that work on Taxis / Private hire cars are not Licensed Taxi or drivers with a taxi badge.
  25. @sussambhave you had the covers off your nuts to check? Odd that you would not have a locking nut on each wheels as they are standard fir in the UK.
