  1. No idea,, Maybe because they use Civilian Airports for military flights & various purposes quite commonly. But they do have issues with GPS or lack of, or am i just making that up? Get out and about in your EV, maybe oop north and see. Serious question. Will employees & others EV's with their various systems always be allowed into high security locations with onboard cameras, over the air upgrades and communication, and are they any different from systems already in ICE vehicles. Then as far as Bomb Detection for vehicles and high risk / high security areas how do they access the risk with EV's. Is putting EV's through an xray going to reveal what they might need to find.
  2. Jamming, nail on head. Feet for dancing head for thinking and left hand spare for using on the screen while right hand is busy.
  3. It certainly does not work in the same way, but can mean the same thing, that is where it is crap, Like around about airports, Park and Rides, Military Airbases and Submarine bases / naval ports. You know how you know were it does not work, by being there and it not working. You know where Mobile Phone reception can just go? Where there is already dodge reception then an incident like a crash and the system to the general public is on reduced power. Funnily on roads like in Scotland where a road closure might mean it takes a while for the diversion to be in place and the diversion can be hours longer.
  4. You are getting a MY23 are you not? They need to get them built delivered and paid for as not long before they start turning out MY24,s.
  5. I go every time for Sainsbury Super Unleaded 97 ron (Minimum) before i would ever use Shell v-Power, and they have a new formulation. Nothing to go with the money, just Royal Dutch Shell. In Scotland though you do get a better 'Super Unleaded' pretty much all the time, especially over the winter season and Winter Formulations.
  6. There is more than one tuner thinks ESSO is among the worst. But then it is not the same nation wide. But then the tuner should have a preference from experience, as well as an opinion on spark plugs and coils.
  7. @MO230So what or were does the £300 difference come from? Is it their map or someone elses they put on, is the difference labour on the clutch? ? Are you servicing the car first and running it so see all is well, as well as the clutch, new plugs fitted, oil & filter and air filter and running the super unleaded before the before on the dyno. Then the remap and dyno runs.
  8. I see it now, Londoners setting Sat Nav to drive where they regularly go to and when needing to find their way home by the fastest route with no road closures, snow gates closed causing diversions. Some seem never to drive in parts of the UK where there is poor / broken or no GPS reception or digital radio reception or mobile reception. These places exist still to these very days. Even @ EV charger hubs or in their vicinity, and were the Chargers sim can not communicate with anything at times, even a control unit only meters away.
  9. What a joy being back in a right hand drive ICE vehicle with no screen in the middle of the car with any setting, or loads of stuff on the steering wheel and just the stuff needed to occasional change with a left hand when right handed like me. Voice activated phone and satvav that functions well is a boon. Via a mobile / smart phone. Waiting your turn occasionally for a few minutes to get to a petrol / diesel pump maybe behind someone towing a caravan is a treat compared to waiting for a EV towing a caravan or just a big battery vehicle wanting to charge to as full as they can get. Why do many in EV's drive just below or well below the NSL much of the time other than when in the vicinity of a charger hub when they are desperate to beat you to it? Is this what all the performance is for with these cars, loads of show and go rather than range efficiency?
  10. @Fabbydawn Why not tell us what engine & gearbox this car has that you keep paying people to fix who apparently can not, and how old it is and how many miles has it done? Petrol Carb treatment was a waste of time / money and mention of a lazy carb is odd. So some fuel treatment or injection cleaner i assume that you paid them handsomely for.
  11. No. For cabin air intake. Just instead of the plates with holes you get on top of the wings. At some points they were blocked because not required offroad, and for engine air i ran a Snorkle and wading plugs and raised breather axles and exhaust. As it is you engine does not overheat. Run water wetter as a coolant if needs must, but your needs do not require.
  12. Bump for @brian62c

  14. Of course they did, they were behind the radiator in the engines compartment drawing air through the radiator and aiding cooling. You have fans on some cars Infront blowing through. You have cars / vehicles moving and the airflow going through. A switchable additional fan was very necessary on my last 4.6 V8 auto running on LPG. EDIT. Pics of larger capacity radiator and addition fan missing right now.
  15. As simple as Skoda / VW / SEAT doing either 14 or 15 " wheels on UP!MiiCitigo. Different models / trims. Look your self at Tyre Sellers, Blackcircles / Tesco / Asda tyres etc and see what the difference in prices are, the difference between Ooo & Aaaa really as in not much. The ride will be just like in any Up!MiiCitigo and the traction / braking/ handling might depend very much on which tyres / brand you fit and how they are in the cold / wet / snow or warm sunny days. All Season tyres in a suitable size might be 'simply clever'.
  16. It might be totally repairable and safe and it might not be, but just looking at a picture is not going to be how you know. Those that do repairs need it to check.
  17. KISS, like Skoda / VW and other car manufacturers did with vehicles sold all around the world for all climates and envirionments. I had extra electric fans on V8 engines for when sitting in traffic and the temperatures could rise rather quickly and that was an early demise of heads / gaskets. I have a Ford Granada Scorpio 2.9 auto that was much the same and would spew the coolant out in summertime grid lock traffic.
  18. Welcome. I will flag your post so that mod can move it the Mk2 Octavia section.
  19. Be aware this more expensive diesel is not Premium Diesel like their ESSO Synergy Supreme+. http://esso.co.uk/en-gb/fuels It is about being green and maybe you get less mpg and paying more to get that. http://esso.co.uk/en-gb/hvo-faqs
  20. Is it not a MK4 Octavia iV that has a smaller fuel tank so a 1.4 TSI DSG PHEV of which you get a vRS model?
  21. The thing with the 'All in one.' from Skoda is the website is there to read and the T&C,s will be available to get online or in hard copy so that is what needs read rather than what told by someone at a dealership. Whoever tells a customer something should be able to show the t&c,s that they are quoting if trying to sell the product.
  22. The 1.4 tsi ACT is not done as the 1.5 tsi ACT is done and takes 1/2 the time. Nothing showing as far as failures on this forum. If people do not want to have the Cambelt changed then do not. Not rocket science. Does a extended / used car warranty in the UK cover a failure if it was not changed at the schedule UK main dealers are recommending?
  23. Can you renew a Warranty with a Skoda / VW product that is valid and covers a Cam Belt failure if the car / engine is not serviced to the Manufacturers Guidelines, recommendations or specifications? But then Skoda / VW UK are not manufacturers they are importers. Skoda CZ are the Manufacturer or VW group is, so is it their Guidelines, recommendations or schedule / specifications referred to in the T&C,s?
  24. @MijIsTiredRunning normally but with a leak that you need to find. Are you posting about a 1.2 TSI from 2011 rather than a 1.6TDI or is it a 1.6 TDI you have? OT. & in the past. & front loom. There was / is a TPI (Service Campaign) on 1.2 TSI looms from over a decade ago. Maybe your car had the loom replaced and maybe not. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/297028-my-monte-has-been-recalled
  25. You have a manual switch to reach up to and press and switch it on have you not, and if there is maybe forget to switch off and have a flat battery. Plenty cars come with things you can set like interior lighting that might come on as you switch off the ignition. But then that is the kind of thing that costs and might come with higher spec / trims. Skoda must have gone 'Simply Clever' and the KISS principal.
