Locking wheel nuts
@sandal farmIndeed. Which is why drivers should check if the can get the security bolt and others off with the tools provided when they get a new car, a used car or after services or tyre changes. Even do away with the security bolt and just fit a normal one and a suitable plastic cover.

Couple of questions to those who have remapped 245 TSI VRS
Not so much a 'Track tool', more like a tool going on track day. @Carlstonwhat is it you drive with 15" rims and narrow / fuel efficient tyres?

the truth about electric cars
@wyx087 70 kWh batteries might well need 10 or 11 hours parked at a 7 kW charger, or less on a 11 kW. But the pith take is those that only do a few miles a day and somehow need to plug in for hours on chargers not charging. Like the ones i see, know, can check how long they are on a charger. Like the ones near me that i happily put up on Zapmap or Plugshare. They want to advertise their business on a company vehicle so i help them be seen by a wider public. PS. A rise from 23 pence a kWh to 41 pence seems to have them back charging at home or maybe at the workplace where HMRC / Tax payers are already subsidising their use of EV's for business use. Just as i did, once and only once.

the truth about electric cars
The ins and outs are drivers of BEV,s and PHEV,s that might just need an hour or 2 charging maybe only 10 minutes to top it up for the next trip on a rapid just not getting it that there are many others in the area wanting the same. The ins and out is where there are not many chargers to allow the charging of many vehicles. I understand that all do not want to spend 40 minutes rapid charging and parking elsewhere bit sticking a big battery EV on a 7 , 22, 22, 43 AC and bogging off when the car only needed maybe 10 kWh of a top up is the issue, the common issue. Anyway that crap will not be annoying me anymore. I am getting withdrawal symptoms and missing the charger wars and the kind of muppets that think they have entitlement to public charging and those that post pictures of them taking unfair advantage are just sad with too much time and crap electric cars and they should get bigger ones and park on Fast (Slow) / Destination chargers all day.

Are garages insured to drive taxis ?
'Solicitor' 'Hackney Carriage / Cab' . The OP is asking about a Private Hire vehicle and getting it serviced & put TAXI in the title. How a drama can get turned into a crisis. All around me are Taxis & Private hire cars & Executive private hire vehicles, airport transport, Uber etc and garages that service them. Real World, but not a City just a Local Authority and not England & not 'Taxis / Hackney Cabs.'

the truth about electric cars
@wyx087There are all sorts of circumstances right enough. If you ever live in a small community or area where people know people you get to know those that plug into a 'destination' chargers right near their house or Air B&B, work place etc and just leave there plugged in rather then walk a minute or 2 and take it out the bay and park in the car park that is free parking anyway. Crazy to get up in the middle of the night is fair enough. Park on a charger at T Time and even if you are only getting 6.6 kWh charge then before going to bed move it, and do not leave it til breakfast time if the car is within spitting distance. 'Simply Clever', simply not greedy because charging might be free or cheaper than your home tariff.

EV real world range and cost to charge
- On the edge… again… phev, or go all in on ev…
If petrol is back up to £2 a litre in the UK then Gas prices will be going up and so will be Electricity & lots of other stuff, as in all that stuff moved by sea, air, rail and road. Renault really have a confusing websites with the Austral showing what is what as in Hybrid, PHEV, not a BEV with AWD, not an Electric SUV. The term e-Tech 100% full hybrid, then e-Tech Plug in Hybrid. There are UK Renault sales executives AKA as sales men / woman that need to learn about the product they are going to be selling. & not be able to sell. She has a better grasp of Renault than some Renault UK reps.- the truth about electric cars
Location location location and not everyone is in London and this 'Destination charger' term means nothing if all there is within a mile or more is 1 charger post or maybe 2. Idiots that plug into a charger just for a parking place overnight or daytime on Public chargers and do not need the energy.- Roomster 2014 1.2 TSI (CBZB engine) – Cam chain wear measurement.
- 1.0 TSI 95PS Remap question
@WaveyDavey Stage 1 is not going to be too much for the turbo and certainly not for the clutch unless your good lady is going to be doing Standing Start drag races. Does she not just want a bit more acceleration in the normal flow of traffic flow and a bot quicker overtaking so when already moving? Surely the person you pay to do the remap will know the limits and advice accordingly. There are people that speak well of Celtic Tuning. I can not do so from knowledge of dealers years back but that is unfair if they have improved. That is the thing with Franchises, it matters who you go to and their knowledge and interest.- On the edge… again… phev, or go all in on ev…
@lol-lolnone of that statistics on charging and sessions can be trusted, there are ones that i do that do not come up or i have to pay for. Then lots of times the RFID card or App does not work so i use a Credit or Debit car to start chargers and that does not show on the Account, just on my statements from bank. 200 sessions. Some are having to start chargers maybe 2 or 3 times to get the car staying charging. Even as many as 5 attempts and no power taken & giving up in the end. Most of my charging on CPS chargers are getting around 23 kWh in on Rapids and only 7 kWh charging for topping up after the rapid slows down and i move to let someone on the rapid. I charge free lots at Tesco with a few 15 minute charges a session during a day. That is usually about 50 kWh worth of charging near home each week. As an example. @ Whitehills hospital i only ever actually managed to get a charge 3 times. Since these sessions once more it actually charged the car from about 4 attempts. PodPoint used for free charging without actually claiming charger or just tapping credit card now, and last week i used up the last of the credit sitting on it. I have credit on BP Pulse and every time i try to use my account i have to get a new Password as always fails to recognise. It really is hopeless as are many of the 100+ chargers.- Octavia Estate PHEV % read out on Dash giving a False read out
@Biggles33Did you actually buy it as a private vehicle thinking you could run it like a EV for 30 miles or so, and not as for business use and the breaks from HMRC of a PHEV and the kidology?- Are garages insured to drive taxis ?
May, might, could but will it? That is why people cover or remove 'The words'. TAXI or the Sign. Why 'Taxi' used to light up when you were 'Free for business' 'All night mister'. 'Trying to solicit custom' That is like the oldest profession, it is not standing on the kerb that is the issue, it is 'Trying to solicit custom'.- the truth about electric cars
@ColinD I am up, and see people pull in in the middle of the night or finish shifts or go to start them and want to charge a vehicle. I will move and let them on if i have enough charge, or tell them i need another 10, 20 mins or whatever. As i see when sitting charging at maybe 2 or 3 am when getting someplace after meeting a flight late at an airport. I will be doing that this week and if some barsteward has parked up for the night on a rapid i need to try and get on a 7 kW and get enough charge and hope in the morning the 'Blue BMW' has moved and i can get charging. This is in one particular place but there others i go to exactly the same. These are ignoramus's with home chargers that are parking up for a free charge for all night, actually their cars need only a couple of hours max, or even 30 minutes. I have met some and asked WTF and they are all french, with a shrug. PS Plugging into a Rapid charger and heading off for a round of golf and maybe lunch is a common practice for some utter muppets. Perth Park & Ride totally hopeless just now while the new chargers are installed. Edinburgh Park & Ride has plenty 7 kWh chargers, but if you plug in and leave your car for the up to 12 hours you might have the charger cut out 5 minutes after you have left.- the truth about electric cars
Right there is the issue. Fine when there are lines of 7 / 11 kW chargers and 'come on down'. Plenty to choose from. But the 'i am all right jack and stuff everyone else is i am parked up and no longer charging and no way going out of my way to move and let others get charged.' is a p!ss take.- Are garages insured to drive taxis ?
@Brian15 Might come back and speak with us. He never said TAXI he said Private Hire. In my are that is a car with a 'White Plate' maybe and not a TAXI. Pre-Booked, hired, School runs etc, not stopping picking up fares if hailed.- Knocking from drivers door area
Welcome to the forum. I will flag your post so a mod can move it to the Octavia Mk3 section.- Are garages insured to drive taxis ?
But garages / repairers have Insurance to drive others vehicles & actually have them at or in their premises. Taxis require servicing and likely more than Private or Commercial / Business use ones. I would think a Private Hire car or Taxi owner would ask another Private Hire / Taxi owner about these sort of things. Or their insurer or local authority.- On the edge… again… phev, or go all in on ev…
Things are changing for the better in Scotland as in higher charging tariffs and overstay penalties and less are hogging chargers. Sadly more and more older chargers can not be relied on and CPS / SWARCO are more useless than they were and unable to communicate with chargers and say they can not start them remotely. BP Pulse chargers are a PITA even when you have credit on a mobile and prepared to pay, thank goodness for Ionity or others that work, or Tesla Superchargers for those using them. For me the go to reliable is PodPoint @ a Tesco or LIDL or an Instavolt. I spend quite a lot of time at Rapid chargers and too long at Fast chargers because i can not get on a Rapid charger. I spend a lot of time trying to get through to CPS (Swarco in Broughty Ferry) reporting faults or trying to get them to start a charger. All sessions this year do not show, and not all actually get charged on my account at chargers that you do pay at.- Octavia III oil conundrum
@CNG_Driver I see now your car is a 2019, so for Variable / Flexible services / oil & filter changes it is VW508 00 / 509 00 , 0w 20 FS IV for your engine, unless for some reason Skoda / VW says not, maybe for the country you are in etc. That was the Owners manual as they came out first and around the time Skoda / VW were using 0w 20 FS IV at the factory. 2018 when GPF,s were being fitted. There will be an Owners manual only for your car or in paper form. As it is you mentioned no year and on a phone you do not see what you have to the left. It would be useful to say what country you are in just so that people know. ? Is your 1.5 TSI an ACT or without Active Cylinder Technology. If not a 1.5 ACT it is ok to use VW502 00 for Fixed Regimes, and likely also with 1.5 TSI,s, as Main Dealers have done.- Roomster 2014 1.2 TSI (CBZB engine) – Cam chain wear measurement.
- Engine vibration after cambelt change 1.0 TSI 110 3 cylinder DSG 2018 Fabia MK3
There is a very good reason that there are warning about needing the right gear and more than just ideas and how easy it is to mess doing the cam belt replacement on a 1.0 tsi. (Even easier with the 1.4 or 1.5 TSI engines with ACT to mess up.) Easy for those that mess up not to admit it and blame something that was not faulty pre them putting on their work gloves.- 1.0 TSI 95PS Remap question
Just check out your local tuners / remapers, their reputation, who's software they use or if they write it and pay your money. Remember the car has a GPF (OPF) http://goapr.co.uk/products/ecu_upgrade_10tsi_opf.html On E5 Super Unleaded, so maybe best 99 ron & not 97 and APR keeps showing 98 ron even though nobody sells that bin the UK. 97 ron is Minimum though so can be a higher octane at the pump. http://celtictuning.co.uk It is 2017 on you need to look at. A pedalbox is not going to really make that much of a difference. ? Is it a manual & 5 speed? I take it that it is a manual since you mention the clutch. The Cambelt replacement recommendation is at 5 years, that is a bit more expensive than the remap. The spark plugs should have been replaced by now, they need changed before the remap if not done. A new air filter probably, but look see it's condition. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/491195-fabia-mk3-10-tsi http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/471730-apr-10tsi-remap-released http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/470749-10-tsi-remap-success http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/485325-skoda-rapid-10-tsi-110-remapping http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/433171-modifying-your-fabia-mk-iii- Octavia III oil conundrum
VW502 00 so 5w 40 FS was and is for Fixed Service Regimes with a TSI, and VW / Skoda are not recommending it for TSI's since they went to VW 508 00 to get cars the WLTP Results. So that is the story. It is not Long Life Oil. It has saved many a TSI by being used because VW504 00 so 5w 30 FS III or 0w 30 FS III and long life service regimes never really meant long life Euro 5 TSI,s, it suited Fleets maybe, lease cars, ones that were not keepers. Long life oil is not special, and VW502 00 is not crap, it is just an oil that many use with a keeper, maybe just not on engines since 2018. 1.4 TSI as used in VW Group / Skoda PHEV,s require Fixed Services (Oil & Filters) , i wonder if all Main Dealers use VW 508 00 or if some use VW504 00. There are dealerships using VW508 00 in older TSI's and they should not be doing so. Bottom chart is from the past, so pre VW508 00 509 00 - On the edge… again… phev, or go all in on ev…
