  1. Not good. I see them and know it is not a car sitting with sidelights on and one faulty. They are there so that people do see a parked car where there is no street lights. Hopefully you see me if i am parked at the roadside or the lay-by i use them. Only for a short while, or if in the car having a sleep / rest and there is a chance of a lorry not spotting me where i am. Rear offside sidelight and one reg plate light on.
  2. Sorry not a clue. Someone that knows about them might be along. Obviously you are replacing it for a reason, can i ask what is wrong with the one on the car?
  3. For parking in areas like the roadside or layby where the speed limit is greater than 30 mph. As per the Highway Code in the UK, as has been the case for decades. Highway Code Waiting & Parking. 238-252.
  4. They are simply clever, The disguise parts stuck on to cover any new design not to be shown until a reveal has to be bigger than what it is covering.

  6. @Mark-Surrey There is no 'issue' other than one with the UK Importers & authorised repairers / Main Dealeships. You have a Euro 6 1.5 TSI ACT that Skoda UK / VW UK recommends having the Cam Belt replaced at 5 years. You chose to ignore or not and if you are doing an inspection sooner, or at 5 years or anytime after that then that is that.
  7. @munkebo66. Who ever at the dealership is not making a big deal over the diagnostic check are they? Drop in first appointment in the morning or an arranged time. 30 mins the tech plugs in, arranges ordering a part if required, tells the desk person to tell you they are checking with the factory for updates. Appointment then arranged for a later date. Same old same old.

@varooom might find you anything that is in the system. He had been a great help to many here and further afield.
  9. This week I have been using public chargers which are 23 pence a kWh. I am getting 3.5 miles to a kWh. 40 kW is costing me £9.20 and I am getting 140 miles for that. I have had some sessions sitting on a Tesco PodPoint charging for free 15 minute charges which reduces the cost per mile. I am on a 50 kW charger now and started it when I had a low battery and was getting 52 kW. This is unusual in my experience of Angus Council and the SWARCO chargers they install. This is one of the cheapest Council areas that are charging to charge. That must be the majority now. 35 pence a kWh is now common. .................. The 8,600 mile for around £200 was really pretty good, as there were thousands more miles done free, but some miles paid other ways than on a CPS account at higher pence per kWh. That is based on the 3.1 miles a kWh i have had long term.

  11. So just so those that have a DQ381 know, use someone with all the gear and more than ideas if having it serviced at the 80,000 miles or even sooner. Best stick with a VW Authorised repairer, and let them mess it up if anyone will. Be sure to have a valid warranty running that will cover failures of a DQ381 DSG. or even a DQ200 DSG, maybe any DSG. Skoda / VW Extended / or after the manufacturers warranties that do not exclude them. Time will tell with DQ381,s, but Driver Error is not going to be the issue. The Manufacturers service schedule and procedures might well be. See the vid on the Servicing of a DQ381. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/509581-7-gear-4x4-dsg-gearbox-error-codes-for-a-2018-tsi-kodiaq
  12. http://autocar.co.uk/car-news/business/volkswagen-deliveries-halted-wltp-emissions-certification Just for future so as no internet myth from re-writing history or having alternative facts. The 1.5 TSI ACT engines were produced and on sale pre WLTP coming in on September 2018. (There were issues reported with cars and the kangerooing pre the WLTP 1.5 TSI ACT's but really it was much more of an issue for some with the cars that were delivered with WLTP Cerification and they needed to start the fight to get vehicles fit for purpose, which is driving on real roads in the real world.) What the issue was that the figures on emissions pre WLTP need to get sorted out as they were far to high to go and get Certification as were other VW Group engines. The delay was VW having to manipulate Engine Management / Software to get the results needed under testing, WLTP & RDE. That meant some cars then behaved poorly out in the real world compared to under World Wide Harmonised Testing which was not about the Whole World but the EU & Europe. Ones that could not be used like a 1.4 TSI without being a PHEV were fine for other World Wide regions where just being honest with emissions seems to be OK. Use the 1.4 TSI and an 8 speed automatic and things are all good. 2017 .................... Below is not a 2017 car as you can not put on newer plates on older cars in the UK. (Unless first registering a car built years before.) But there were Skoda 1.5 TSI ACT DSG in 2017. http://autoexpress.co.uk/skoda/octavia/101350/new-skoda-octavia-estate-15-petrol-2017-review These were available before the WLTP was coming in, then the issue arose when they had to do the WLTP & VW struggled so cars were bunkered. Cars could not be imported into the likes of the UK or other countries, so Deliveries were held up for months.
  13. And this time of the year up north in Scotland shire it has been near as warm as summer weather at times and there is winter formulation diesel and petrol in the filling stations and maybe as good or better fuel efficiency as there will be in a couple of months. Turbo,s like cooler air, and cooler roads have less grip so less friction if you are scooting about on summer / eco tyres once the engine / oil is up to temp.
  14. They should not need replacing at 49,000 miles. In the UK the DSG clutches are not excluded in the manufacturers warranty. So 3 years cover, or 4 or 5 if the extension was purchased. With DQ381 DSG,s there are growing amounts with issues being reported or posted about it. If DQ200,s in newer cars are having issues again then time for Skoda / VW to be finding out once again where they are getting things wrong. It can not always be blamed on driver error.
  15. Matrix lights are really not about a Stylee thing and just how they look, but about how they perform for the car driver. (Personally i love them.) How what they light up looks to the vehicles driver. And the way you get used to no longer dipping the headlights. How they look when working is what affects other drivers and road users and pedestrians when it is dark. When they are working correctly then there should be no issues, sadly there are many out there fitted to vehicles that are crap in how they function.
  16. Someone i know personally and i am currently sitting with... goes through the 23 miles on the A9 Average Speed Cameras at 74 mph ish, as others are doing and is often passed by others going faster, much the same as the same on other average camera routes where locals are a few mph above the max speed limit, be that 50 mph, 60 mph etc, but these are permanent cameras. At road works they would never do that, and where there are road works on Motorways or Dual Carriageways with overhead cameras and variable speeds that can be posted there can be portable cameras placed at the lane closures. There are NIP's and actual fines that get issued in Scotland that then get over turned because the signage was wrong, or the Speed restrictions were wrongly posted in the press. The thing is that the drivers were still over the speed at the place that the work was being done, if the Reduced Speed signs were showing or lanes were closed even if no workers were about.

  18. The guy says the Tech heard me and checked the passenger side again and Vauxhall will not replace as it is ok. Well I will not be bringing it back in to have more work done after they do this job right, if they do. Motability can collect the car or arrange to have the repairs done at the Vauxhall workshop that is no longer a dealership for Vauxhall but has the trained and qualified mechanics, equipment and does Vauxhall work for customers. 1 mile from my home. They supplied and PDI,d the car. Then left the Vauxhall Network. They are still a Kia dealership.
  19. The service desk gent just showed me the removed drivers side drop link and the part wrongly sent for my car which is the left one. No, it is not the same part in anyway. The left one is shagged anyway. So they are away to refit the crap drop link. Corsas to the left of me, and to the right and a huge Service Centre Dundee if anyone want to check it out. No point posting the Arse and elbow pic as that does not even begin to cover this shower.
  20. Lol. Cars moved. Not a warm welcome today. Totally rubbered other than being asked for the keys. No asking my name. Nothing to sign yet. Not asking would I like it washed. No point, roads are filthy as my name must be dirt. Down to 46% now at 8.14am. I will see what it is at once the keys are handed back. Nice that I can track it's location now and where it goes before I get it back. And does it get a road test?
  21. Back at Arnold Clark Vauxhall Service Centre for the fitment of drop link. Supposedly front drivers side. Keys handed over and through to workshop at 8.40. So I will see how things go. An automatic Corsa (electric) would have been available but as this should not take long I will just sit and wait. Time booked for 8.00 am and should be less than a couple of hours. It certainly should. Lol not. PS. The other day the car did an over the air update and what ever had been updated that always had the car assuming that when charged it would get 4 miles per kWh disappears and it went back to being accurate to the last efficiency. So today at around freezing it had 50% battery and showed 46 miles range. 20 miles later with a slow drive on ungritted roads and AC off it was getting 3 miles per kWh displayed and 41miles range. 47%.
  22. The TPMS is standard and does not come as sensors inside the tyres with a Skoda Fabia. You get that sensors in the tyres more recently with a Kodiaq or Superb. You can identify that by how the valves look. ................... Picture pinched from a post by@Kenny R
  23. Ps. Someone was feeding you BS. Forte injector / fuel cleaner / additives, snake oils, available from Amazon, eBay or anyplace really. Hopefully they sold it at a reasonable price to you.
  24. ? Did they plug in and check for fault codes. Low mileage at 6 years old does not mean the gap is correct on all 4 plugs. Inspecting then would have been a plan, and since out change them. Are they waiting for another year of low miles to pass? Edit. Missed your post that the plugs were now changed.
  25. @cogggo Try E5 then, so Tesco Momentum 99 or Sainsburys Super Unleaded 97 ron minimum. Note they are on sale @ Filling stations near Supermarkets or Express Shops. Greenergy might be supplying the fuel as they do for Esso and other filling stations . There is nothing different from E10 in a Supermarket filling station than from BP, Shell or any others not near a Supermarket. There is in different parts of the UK with differences of the E5. All in the UK is winter formulation until March or maybe even later further north. Do not put in fuel cleaner. ? How many miles has your car done? Has it had new spark plugs fitted ever?
